Background: To better understand the importance of the New York esophageal squamous cell carcinoma 1 (NY-ESO-1) and human leukocyte antigen (HLA) subtypes in treatment decision-making, further investigation of their prevalence and prognostic impact among patients with metastatic synovial sarcoma (mSS) is needed.
Patients And Methods: This was a retrospective clinico-biological cohort study of adults with mSS. Patient data were collected from the French Sarcoma Group NetSARC database and supplemented by electronic medical records.

We report a successful, albeit complicated pregnancy with a live-born healthy baby at 28 weeks' gestation, after 10 pregnancy failures, in a 39-year-old patient with a history of liver transplantation and chronic kidney disease with hypertension and proteinuria. Multidisciplinary management (obstetrician, nephrologist and hepatology transplant specialist) allowed close monitoring, adaptation of immunosuppressive treatments and strict control of fetal growth. The onset of preeclampsia at 28 weeks' gestation led to a cesarean section, resulting in the birth of a healthy 830 g boy, with subsequent normal development.

Objective: To develop a simple scoring system in order to predict the risk of severe (death and/or surgery) ischemic colitis METHODS: In this retrospective study, 205 patients diagnosed with ischemic colitis in a tertiary hospital were consecutively included over a 6-year period. The study sample was sequentially divided into a training cohort (n = 103) and a validation cohort (n = 102). In the training cohort, multivariable analysis was used to identify clinical, biological, and CT variables associated with poor outcome and to build a risk scoring system.

Introduction: Topical applications of hyaluronic acid (HA)-containing formulations, based on the complex and vital role of HA in all stages of the wound-healing process, are routinely used with standard therapy to promote faster healing of chronic wounds. However, evidence to guide clinical decisions on the use of topical HA in the healing of vascular leg ulcers is limited.
Objective: This study compared the efficacy and safety of topical application of a hyaluronic acid cream vs a neutral comparator (identical cream without HA) in treating subjects with chronic leg ulcers of vascular origin.

Previous studies have described the clinical, serological and pathological features of patients with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) and antibodies directed against the paranodal proteins neurofascin-155, contactin-1 (CNTN1), contactin-associated protein-1 (Caspr1), or nodal forms of neurofascin. Such antibodies are useful for diagnosis and potentially treatment selection. However, antibodies targeting Caspr1 only or the Caspr1/CNTN1 complex have been reported in few patients with CIDP.

Three clinical scales (the Nociception Coma Scale adapted for Intubated patients [NCS-I], its Revised version [NCS-R-I], and the Behavioral Pain Scale [BPS]) and videopupillometry were compared for measuring pain in intubated, noncommunicating, critically ill, brain-injured patients. Pain assessment was performed before, during, just after, and 5 minutes after 3 procedures: the reference non-nociceptive procedure (assessment of the Richmond Agitation Sedation Scale) and 2 nociceptive procedures (turning and tracheal suctioning). The primary endpoint was construct validity (discriminant and criterion validation), determined by comparing pain measurements between different times/procedures.

Primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) is a rare and heterogeneous genetic disorder that affects the structure and function of motile cilia. In the airway epithelium, impaired ciliary motion results in reduced or absent mucociliary clearance that leads to the appearance of chronic airway infection, sinusitis, and bronchiectasis. Currently, there is no effective treatment for PCD, and research is limited by the lack of convenient models to study this disease and investigate innovative therapies.

Human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-G, a HLA class Ib molecule, interacts with receptors on lymphocytes such as T cells, B cells, and natural killer cells to influence immune responses. Unlike classical HLA molecules, HLA-G expression is not found on all somatic cells, but restricted to tissue sites, including human bronchial epithelium cells (HBEC). Individual variation in HLA-G expression is linked to its genetic polymorphism and has been associated with many pathological situations such as asthma, which is characterized by epithelium abnormalities and inflammatory cell activation.

Growth factors have key roles in liver physiology and pathology, particularly by promoting cell proliferation and growth. Recently, it has been shown that in mouse hepatocytes, epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) plays a crucial role in the activation of the xenosensor constitutive androstane receptor (CAR) by the antiepileptic drug phenobarbital. Due to the species selectivity of CAR signaling, here we investigated epidermal growth factor (EGF) role in CAR signaling in primary human hepatocytes.

Lungs have a complex structure composed of different cell types that form approximately 17 million airway branches of gas-delivering bronchioles connected to 500 million gas-exchanging alveoli. Airways and alveoli are lined by epithelial cells that display a low rate of turnover at steady-state, but can regenerate the epithelium in response to injuries. Here, we review the key points of lung development, homeostasis and epithelial cell plasticity in response to injury and disease, because this knowledge is required to develop new lung disease treatments.

Polymorphisms have been identified in the Xq28 locus as risk loci for rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Here, we investigated the association between three polymorphisms in the Xq28 region containing and (rs13397, rs1059703, and rs1059702) in two unstudied populations: Tunisian and French. The rs13397 G and rs1059703 T major alleles were significantly increased in RA patients ( = 408) compared with age-matched controls ( = 471) in both Tunisian and French women.

With a single exception, all isolates of hepatitis C virus (HCV) require adaptive mutations to replicate efficiently in cell culture. Here, we show that a major class of adaptive mutations regulates the activity of a cellular lipid kinase, phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase IIIα (PI4KA). HCV needs to stimulate PI4KA to create a permissive phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate-enriched membrane microenvironment in the liver and in primary human hepatocytes (PHHs).
