Adherence to antiretroviral therapy and the associated factors among people living with HIV/AIDS in Northern Peru: a cross-sectional study.

Background: There are approximately 72,000 people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) in Peru. Non-adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART) is the most important factor for therapeutic failure and the development of resistance. Peru has achieved moderate progress in meeting the 90-90-90 targets, but only 60% of PLHIV receiving ART are virally suppressed.

[Association between exclusive breastfeeding and atopic dermatitis in a third level of care hospital].

Objetive.: To assess whether exclusive breastfeeding is associated with atopic dermatitis in children under seven years of age.

Case Report: Recurrent hypokalemic periodic paralysis associated with distal renal tubular acidosis (type 1) and hypothyroidism secondary to Hashimoto's thyroiditis.

Hypokalemic periodic paralysis (HypoKPP) is characterized by transient episodes of flaccid muscle weakness. We describe the case of a teenaged boy with HypoKPP and hyperthyroidism due to Hashimoto's thyroiditis with initial manifestation of renal tubular acidosis. This combination is rare and little described previously in men.

Diabetic Ketoacidosis Associated with Thyroxine (T₄) Toxicosis and Thyrotoxic Cardiomyopathy.

Thyrotoxicosis and diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) both may present as endocrine emergencies and may have devastating consequences if not diagnosed and managed promptly and effectively. The combination of diabetes mellitus (DM) with thyrotoxicosis is well known, and one condition usually precedes the other. Furthermore, thyrotoxicosis is complicated by some degree of cardiomyopathy in at least 5% de patients; but the coexistence of DKA, thyroxin (T₄) toxicosis, and acute cardiomyopathy is extremely rare.

[Histological complete response to neoadjuvant therapy in advanced gastric carcinoma. A case report and review of literature].

[Chromoblastomycosis: clinical and microbiological characteristics of a neglected disease].

Chromoblastomycosis is a neglected and chronic fungal disease, mainly affects the subcutaneous tissue in limbs of people with occupational risk. Here, we report two cases of adult patients from tropical regions of northern Peru, affected with chronic erythematous scaly lesions and multiple blackheads, pain, itching and scarring in older areas of injury. [Cystoisospora belli infection in HIV patients: Analysis of cases with different clinical evolution].
