Background: The internet is a key source of health information, but the quality of content from popular search engines varies, posing challenges for users-especially those with low health or digital health literacy. To address this, the "tala-med" search engine was developed in 2020 to provide access to high-quality, evidence-based content. It prioritizes German health websites based on trustworthiness, recency, user-friendliness, and comprehensibility, offering category-based filters while ensuring privacy by avoiding data collection and advertisements.

The DNA-damaging agent Gemcitabine (GEM) is a first-line treatment for pancreatic cancer, but chemoresistance is frequently observed. Several clinical trials investigate the efficacy of GEM in combination with targeted drugs, including kinase inhibitors, but the experimental evidence for such rationale is often unclear. Here, we phenotypically screened 13 human pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PDAC) cell lines against GEM in combination with 146 clinical inhibitors and observed strong synergy for the ATR kinase inhibitor Elimusertib in most cell lines.

Here, we retrospectively evaluated the informational yield of 338 post-reperfusion kidney transplant biopsies (including 95 living donations) assessed according to BANFF for the histological characteristics interstitial fibrosis and tubular atrophy (IF/TA), glomerulosclerosis, arteriosclerosis, and acute tubular injury (ATI). Associations with delayed graft function (DGF) and death-censored graft survival were explored through Cox-regression analyses. The maximum follow-up time was 11.

Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-targeted positron emission tomography (PET) has improved localization of prostate cancer (PC) lesions in biochemical recurrence (BCR) for salvage radiotherapy (SRT). We conducted a retrospective review of patients undergoing F-rhPSMA-7 or F-flotufolastat (F-rhPSMA-7.3)-PET-guided SRT compared with conventional-SRT (C-SRT) without PET.

Background: Flail chest (FC) injuries are segmental osseous injuries of the thorax that typically result from high-energy blunt trauma and regularly occur in multiple trauma (MT) patients. FC injuries are associated with paradoxical chest wall movements and, thus, have a high risk of respiratory insufficiency or even death. An increasing number of studies recommend an early surgical stabilization of FC injuries, but a definite trigger that would indicate surgery has, thus far, not been identified.

Objective: In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, a significant number of critical care nurses have left their positions, citing overload, burnout, and moral distress. This scoping review is not just a theoretical exploration but a timely and crucial investigation into the aspects and structures of critical care nursing that can make the job fulfilling and appealing, thereby promoting intrinsic motivation and staff retention.
Methodology: A scoping review of studies reporting on factors that allow critical care nurses to fall back on their intrinsic job motivation.

Courses of SARS-CoV-2 infections are highly variable, ranging from asymptomatic to lethal COVID-19. Though research has shown that host genetic factors contribute to this variability, cohort-based joint analyses of variants from the entire allelic spectrum in individuals with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infections are still lacking. Here, we present the results of whole genome sequencing in 1,220 mainly vaccine-naïve individuals with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection, including 827 hospitalized COVID-19 cases.

Background: The authors' previous research suggested the hypothesis that aesthetic surgery in general has a positive impact on quality of life (QoL). This prospective study aimed to investigate the indication-specific effect on QoL in patients undergoing transaxillary endoscopic breast augmentation.
Methods: Seventy-seven patients underwent aesthetic breast augmentation.

Background: Rhabdomyosarcoma and other soft tissue sarcomas (STS) with high-risk features are still associated with an unsatisfactory outcome. We evaluated the efficacy of oral maintenance therapy added at the end of standard therapy in patients with high-risk rhabdomyosarcoma and STS.
Methods: CWS-2007-HR was a multicentre, open-label, randomised controlled, phase 3 trial done at 87 centers in 5 countries.

Microvascular endothelial dysfunction may provide insights into systemic diseases, such as carotid artery disease. Raster-scan optoacoustic mesoscopy (RSOM) can produce images of skin microvasculature during endothelial dysfunction challenges via numerous microvascular features. Herein, RSOM was employed to image the microvasculature of 26 subjects (13 patients with single carotid artery disease, 13 healthy participants) to assess the dynamics of 18 microvascular features at three scales of detail, i.

Background: Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) presents significant challenges for affected children and adolescents, their social environment, and treating physicians, due to its profound impact on quality of life and the lack of causal therapeutic approaches. One crucial aspect of care that has been missing for these patients is comprehensive education for both them and their social circles.
Objective: This study protocol aims to outline the goals, study design, execution, and evaluation of the subproject within the BAYNET FOR ME/CFS project.

Background And Objectives: Multiple sclerosis (MS) can start as relapsing or progressive. While their clinical features and treatment responses are distinct, it has remained uncertain whether their pathomechanisms differ. A notable age-related effect on MS phenotype and response to immunotherapies is well acknowledged, but the underlying pathophysiologic reasons are yet to be fully elucidated.

Background: Post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) pancreatitis (PEP) is the most common complication of ERCP, with limited studies comparing combined prophylactic measures and their efficacy relative to individual patient risk profiles. This study aims to perform an individual patient data meta-analysis (IPDMA) to evaluate the contribution of patient and ERCP-related risk factors to PEP development and to identify the best prophylaxis strategies according to the patient's risk profile.
Methods: We systematically searched MEDLINE, Embase, and Cochrane databases until November 2022 for randomized controlled PEP prophylaxis trials.

Chronic disease progression models are available for several highly prevalent conditions. For chronic kidney disease (CKD), the scope of existing progression models is limited to the risk of kidney failure and major cardiovascular (CV) events. The aim of this project was to develop a comprehensive CKD progression model (CKD-PM) that simulates the risk of CKD progression and a broad range of complications in patients with CKD.
