Safety and effectiveness of sucroferric oxyhydroxide in Spanish patients on dialysis: sub-analysis of the VERIFIE study.

Background And Aims: In this study, we show the results of the subset of Spanish patients of the VERIFIE study, the first post-marketing study assessing the long-term safety and effectiveness of sucroferric oxyhydroxide (SFOH) in patients with hyperphosphatemia undergoing dialysis during clinical practice.

Patients And Methods: Patients undergoing hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis with indication of SFOH treatment were included. Follow-up duration was 12-36 months after SFOH initiation.

Long-term recurrent events in ST-elevation myocardial infarction and multivessel disease. The impact of different revascularization strategies.

Introduction: The benefit of complete revascularization (CR) on long-term total event reduction in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and multivessel disease (MVD), still remains unclear. We assessed the efficacy of three different revascularization strategies on long-term total recurrent events.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 414 consecutive patients admitted with STEMI and MVD who were categorized according to the revascularization strategy used: culprit-vessel-only percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) (n=163); in-hospital CR (n=136); and delayed CR (n=115).

Futibatinib for -Rearranged Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma.

Background: Alterations in fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 () have emerged as promising drug targets for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, a rare cancer with a poor prognosis. Futibatinib, a next-generation, covalently binding FGFR1-4 inhibitor, has been shown to have both antitumor activity in patients with -altered tumors and strong preclinical activity against acquired resistance mutations associated with ATP-competitive FGFR inhibitors.

Methods: In this multinational, open-label, single-group, phase 2 study, we enrolled patients with unresectable or metastatic fusion-positive or rearrangement-positive intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and disease progression after one or more previous lines of systemic therapy (excluding FGFR inhibitors).

A Comprehensive Biomarker Analysis of Microsatellite Unstable/Mismatch Repair Deficient Colorectal Cancer Cohort Treated with Immunotherapy.

The search for immunotherapy biomarkers in Microsatellite Instability High/Deficient Mismatch Repair system (MSI-H/dMMR) metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) is an unmet need. Sixteen patients with mCRC and MSI-H/dMMR (determined by either immunohistochemistry or polymerase chain reaction) treated with PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors at our institution were included. According to whether the progression-free survival with PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors was longer than 6 months or shorter, patients were clustered into the IT-responder group (: 9 patients) or IT-resistant group (: 7 patients), respectively.

Influence of the ectopic location on the antigen expression and functional characteristics of endometrioma stromal cells.

Research Question: Are the alterations observed in the endometriotic cells, such as progesterone resistance, already present in the eutopic endometrium or acquired in the ectopic location?

Design: The response to decidualization with progesterone and cyclic AMP for up to 28 days was compared in different endometrial stromal cell (EnSC) lines established from samples of endometriomas (eEnSC), eutopic endometrium from women with endometriosis (eBEnSC), endometrial tissue from healthy women (BEnSC) and menstrual blood from healthy donors (mEnSC).

SARS-CoV-2 infection in patients with melanoma: results of the Spanish Melanoma Group registry.

Background: The Spanish Melanoma Group (GEM) developed a national registry of patients with melanoma infected by SARS-CoV-2 ("GRAVID").

Methods: The main objective was to describe the COVID-19 fatality rate in patients with melanoma throughout the pandemic, as well as to explore the effect of melanoma treatment and tumor stage on the risk of COVID-19 complications. These are the final data of the register, including cases from February 2020 to September 2021.

Cytology Smears: An Enhanced Alternative Method for Colorectal Cancer pN Stage-A Multicentre Study.

Stage II colorectal cancer (CRC) recurrence remains a clinical problem. Some of these patients are true stage III CRC with a pN0 pathology stage. Sjögren syndrome.

In 1933, the Swedish ophthalmologist Hendrik Sjögren was the first to suggest that behind the dryness that several of his patients presented, there could be a systemic disease related to an abnormal immune response. Since then, the term Sjögren's syndrome (SjS) has been used and it has been considered a minor and infrequent disorder compared to other systemic autoimmune diseases (SAD) and, consequently, with little progress both in clinical and therapeutic research. The emergence of new technologies at the end of the 20th century rapidly promoted the development of international projects of great impact and diffusion, which have completely changed this scenario, and in the last 20 years significant progress has been made in understanding the main epidemiological determinants and pathogenic mechanisms to increase the diagnostic accuracy and to design specific and individualized therapeutic strategies.

Regulation and directed inhibition of ECP production by human neutrophils.

Background: Neutrophils are involved in the pathophysiology of allergic asthma, where the Eosinophil Cationic Protein ECP) is a critical inflammatory mediator. Although ECP production is attributed to eosinophils, we reported that ECP is also present in neutrophils from allergic patients where, in contrast to eosinophils, it is produced in an IgE-dependent manner. Given the key role of ECP in asthma, we investigated the molecular mechanisms involved in ECP production as well as the effects induced by agonists and widely used clinical approaches.

The purpose of this study was to perform a histological and biochemical evaluation of the influence of plasma rich in growth factors (PRGF) on muscle regeneration process after a surgically induced grade II muscle laceration. A randomized, single blind, controlled experimental research was conducted including twenty-one adult healthy sheep, randomly divided in three groups (n = 7). A grade II surgical section was performed in the biceps femoris muscle of both hindlimbs.

We aimed to quantify potential associations between demographic, migraine-related, and psychophysical and psychophysical variables in women with migraine.
