Aim: To assess the feasibility and acceptability of massive hepatitis C virus (HCV) testing in point of care on the street using quick tests, determine the characteristics of the population included, and the prevalence of HCV infection in this population.
Methods: Cross-sectional community-based study including adult men who have sex with men (MSM) who attended the three most important LGTB+ events in Sitges (Catalonia, Spain) in 2022. Points of care were set up on tents on the street and attendees were offered voluntary anti-HCV antibody self-testing.

The aim of this work is to establish recommendations for the preoperative evaluation and selection of patients with malignant oesophageal neoplasms, who are candidates for surgical resection with curative intent, based on the consensus established by a group of experts. Using the Delphi methodolgy and after 2 rounds of evaluation, responses were obtained from 37 experts to 47 questions about the preoperative management of oesophageal cancer, considering consensus if there was a mean score greater than 8 (range between 0 to 10). Of the respondents, 54% were women, with a mean age of 50.

EWSR1/FUS::TFCP2-rearranged rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is a rare tumor with an aggressive clinical course, a predilection for craniofacial bones, spindled and/or epithelioid histomorphology, and positive immunohistochemistry (IHC) for epithelial and myogenic markers, along with variable ALK expression. Herein, we present four additional cases of primary cutaneous TFCP2-rearranged RMS. Notably, one tumor (case 1) displayed a varied pathological spectrum, initially presenting as a low-grade spindle cell neoplasm, but progressed into a high-grade spindle/epithelioid tumor.

Pathogenic alterations, namely, fusions and amplifications, of the GLI1 gene have been identified in various mesenchymal tumors, including pericytoma with t(7;12), plexiform fibromyxoma, gastroblastoma, and other malignant mesenchymal neoplasms arising in the soft tissues, as well as in various visceral organs. However, only three cases of GLI1-rearranged renal tumors have been reported to date, comprising two low-grade spindle cell tumors with GLI1::FOXO4 fusion along with one GLI1-rearranged case with an unknown fusion partner. In this study, we analyzed three cases with GLI1::FOXO4 fusion and overlapping morphology.

Historically, blind intrauterine procedures such as dilation and curettage (D&C) and blind endometrial biopsies have been the primary approach for diagnosing and managing intrauterine pathologies. However, these techniques lack direct visualization, leading to diagnostic limitations, incomplete treatment, and increased complication rates. Despite substantial advances in hysteroscopic technology, including high-definition imaging and minimally invasive instruments, blind procedures remain widely used.

Background: Predictors of response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) and endocrine therapy (NET) in hormone receptor-positive (HoR+)/human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative breast cancer (BC) are required. Also, pathological and molecular changes induced by both strategies and their impact on patients' outcomes have not been reported so far.
Patients And Methods: In a cohort of 186 patients with early-stage HoR+/HER2-negative BC treated with NACT or NET, we assessed the association of baseline main clinicopathological features and PAM50 gene expression (GE), intrinsic subtypes (IS) and risk-of-relapse (ROR-P) score with pathological outcomes according to treatment strategy.

Male patients with congenital hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (CHH) have impaired postnatal activation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis that occurs during mini-puberty. The aim of this study was to report our experience using gonadotropin replacement therapy for mini-puberty in male infants with CHH and to establish treatment recommendations. The patients included in this retrospective case series ( = 9) were diagnosed in the postnatal period due to micropenis, with two being accompanied by cryptorchidism and four with other associated hormonal deficits.

Background: Previous studies showed opposite effects of NOTCH1 and NOTCH2 on mesothelioma cell survival under hypoxia. Mechanisms underlying these effects are not still clear and this pathway plays a key role in angiogenesis and cancer stem cells (CSCs) self-renewal processes.
Purpose: In this study we evaluated whether NOTCH1, NOTCH2 copy number alterations (CNAs) might predict prognosis of patients with pleural mesothelioma (PM) and if the modulation of this pathway might target CSCs, potentiating pemetrexed activity, also in hypoxic conditions.

Background And Aims: Liver transplant (LT) for transplant oncology (TO) indications is being slowly adopted worldwide and has been recommended to be incorporated cautiously due to concerns about mid-long-term survival and its impact on the waiting list.
Approach And Results: We conducted 4 systematic reviews of all series on TO indications (intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and perihilar cholangiocarcinoma [phCC]) and liver metastases from neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) and colorectal cancer (CRLM) and compared them using patient-level meta-analyses to data obtained from the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) database considering conventional daily-practice indications. Secondary analyses were done for specific selection criteria (Mayo-like protocols for phCC, SECA-2 for CRLM, and Milan criteria for NET).

Lesser metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joints instability is usually produced by the rupture of the plantar plate. The treatment algorithm may change in patients with advanced stages of the plantar plate rupture, and surgical treatment is proposed to avoid MTP dislocation. Palliative surgery with minimally invasive surgery (MIS) can offer a less aggressive approach and enable excellent clinical correction and a good function.

Aging is one of the main factors associated with cardiovascular diseases. Androgens exert beneficial effects on the cardiovascular system and testosterone (TES) replacement therapy improves cardiometabolic risk factors. However, TES is contraindicated in patients with prostate cancer due to its proliferative effects on prostatic tumor cells.

Research on the neural imprint of dual-language experience, crucial for understanding how the brain processes dominant and non-dominant languages, remains inconclusive. Conflicting evidence suggests either similarity or distinction in neural processing, with implications for bilingual patients with brain tumors. Preserving dual-language functions after surgery requires considering pre-diagnosis neuroplastic changes.

Purpose: Inflammation and neutrophils play a central role in both COVID-19 disease and cancer. We aimed to assess the impact of pre-existing tumor-related inflammation on COVID-19 outcomes in patients with cancer and to elucidate the role of circulating neutrophil subpopulations.
Methods: We conducted a multicenter retrospective analysis of 524 patients with cancer and SARS-CoV-2 infection, assessing the relationship between clinical outcomes and circulating inflammatory biomarkers collected before and during COVID-19 infection.

Background: Given the boom in sports in school age, its intensity and the increase in sports in females, we are experiencing a boom in sports injuries characteristic of "adults" in growing patients, the anterior cruciate ligament being an injury with possible serious consequences.
Methods: To show the surgical technique "without bone tunnels" by Micheli-Kocher in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction in growing patients based on our results in 20 patients.
Results: Since 2017 we have performed the technique "without bone tunnels" by Micheli-Kocher in 30 patients, 20 of whom have been followed up for more than 2 years.

An efficient mode of evaluation for eye movements is the use of objective eye tracking systems combined with subjective tests (NSUCO or DEM), which are easily applicable across all age groups and in eye care clinical settings. The objective of this study was to characterize fixations during reading in two groups: a group of children with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDG, 24 children, age: 6-12 years) and a group of children with oculomotor anomalies but without NDD (OAG, 24 children, age: 6-12 years). The results obtained were compared with those from a control group (CG, 20 children, age: 6-12 years).
