Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is associated with comorbidities and altered pharmacokinetics, making appropriate prescribing, and monitoring necessary to minimise drug-related problems (DRPs). Therefore, this study aimed to describe the drug-utilisation pattern in hospitalised CKD patients.
Methods: An observational study was conducted in hospitalised adult (≥18 years old) CKD patients in the UK using WHO prescribing indicators, from November 2021 to April 2022 in a large teaching hospital in England from admission until discharge.

Sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitors such as Empagliflozin, are increasingly recommended as part of guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) for heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) in many developed nations. This recommendation is based on robust clinical evidence showing that adding Empagliflozin to GDMT improves heart failure symptoms, clinical outcomes, functional status, and overall quality of life. In Malaysia, where healthcare is predominantly public and heavily subsidized, the introduction of new treatments can significantly impact costs, requiring detailed economic assessments.

Tumors occurring in the submandibular space are infrequent among pediatric patients, and benign peripheral nerve tumors in this region are exceptionally rare. This study describes the uncommon occurrence of a schwannoma in the submandibular space in a child and describes its management. A 7-year-old child presented with a gradually enlarging swelling over a 7-month period in the submandibular region, clinically resembling a salivary gland tumor.

Purpose: Health-related quality-of-life (HRQoL) data for the chronic heart failure (HF) population in Malaysia are lacking. Using EQ-5D-5L, this study intended to describe their HRQoL, identify predictors of worse HRQoL, and derive EQ-5D-5L index scores for use in economic evaluations.
Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted between April and September 2023 to collect EQ-5D-5L, sociodemographic, and clinical data from outpatients with HF across seven public specialist hospitals in Malaysia.

Diagnosing a soft tissue tumor in the head and neck region can be challenging due to its complex anatomy and diverse histological spectrum. This case report highlights the case of a woman who presented with a painless neck lump in the posterior triangle of the neck. Various pathological and imaging studies were suggestive of pleomorphic adenoma, which arises from the left prevertebral space.

Purpose: Breast cancer deaths disproportionately affect women living in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Patient navigation has emerged as a cost-effective and impactful approach to enable women with symptoms or suspicious mammogram findings to access timely diagnosis and patients with breast cancer to access timely and appropriate multimodality treatment. However, few studies have systematically evaluated the impact of patient navigation on timeliness of diagnosis and treatment in LMICs.

Spinal involvement in primary amyloidosis is an exceedingly rare condition, presenting with typical pathological fracture symptoms that are often indistinguishable from other pathologies such as bone metastasis, metabolic disorders and infections. Histopathological studies for tissue diagnosis are the cornerstone of a definitive diagnosis, leading to successful treatment. Early diagnosis and intervention play a pivotal role in the care of patients with amyloidosis.
