Objectives: To compare visual outcomes for low vision eyes (LVE) (<35 letters LogMAR or <20/200 Snellen) versus non-low vision eyes (NLVE) (>35 letters LogMAR or >20/200 Snellen) at the time of the first injection in a clinical practice setting.
Methods: Subgroup analysis of a multicenter national database of treatment- naïve eyes neovascular age related macular degeneration (nAMD) treated with anti-VEGF intravitreal injections divided into LVE and NLVE. Demographics, visual acuity (VA) at baseline and subsequent timepoints (12, 24, and 36 months), number of injections and visits data were collected using a validated web-based tool (Fight Retinal Blindness!).

The use of new technologies in rehabilitation to evaluate and improve occupational performance and quality of life is increasing. Technological applications in the health field could help meet the needs of patients, including those of women breast cancer survivors. The main aim of this study was to design a mobile phone application "MAIA" focused on the perceived needs of women who have had breast cancer to achieve optimal performance in their daily lives in a meaningful way.

Purpose: To evaluate the influence of macular neovascularization (MNV) lesion type on 12-month clinical outcomes in treatment-naive eyes with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) treated with anti-VEGF drugs nationwide.
Design: Multicenter national nAMD database observational study.
Subjects: One thousand six hundred six treatment-naive nAMD eyes (1330 patients) undergoing anti-VEGF therapy for 12 months nationwide.

Epiretinal membrane (ERM) formation is a known postoperative complication following retinal detachment (RD) repair surgery. Prophylactic peeling of the internal limiting membrane (ILM) during surgery has been shown to reduce the risk of developing postoperative ERM formation. Some baseline characteristics and degrees of surgical complexity may act as risk factors for ERM development.

Aim: To explore associations between artificial intelligence (AI)-based fluid compartment quantifications and 12 months visual outcomes in OCT images from a real-world, multicentre, national cohort of naïve neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) treated eyes.
Methods: Demographics, visual acuity (VA), drug and number of injections data were collected using a validated web-based tool. Fluid compartment quantifications including intraretinal fluid (IRF), subretinal fluid (SRF) and pigment epithelial detachment (PED) in the fovea (1 mm), parafovea (3 mm) and perifovea (6 mm) were measured in nanoliters (nL) using a validated AI-tool.

Background: Solar maculopathy is a well described clinical entity that usually occurs in patients that have gazed directly the sun. In this report we describe the first two cases of solar maculopathy in individuals exposed to sunlight reflected from the screen of mobile devices in the absence of direct sun gaze.
Cases Description: Case 1.
The existing literature is reviewed to determine the current state of knowledge about eating disorders (ED), prevention programs in relation to stigma-discrimination, help search, empowerment, emotional education, mental health literacy, and recommending future directions. Preventive interventions, necessary during adolescence and young adulthood, must be designed with the focus on reducing discrimination based on weight and the stigmatization of ED. With some gender specificities, with attention to stress and social isolation, social consensus, EDs in men; with work to reduce compliance with some norms of the male gender, as one of the targets in the development of prevention programs.

People with ED or related characteristics suffer more often (two to three times more) from bullying or teasing related to appearance. Special mention should be made of participants in intimidation and harassment behaviors, both as victims or perpetrators, who are at greater risk of developing food symptoms.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe most up-to-date information on the secondary prevention of eating disorders (EDs) is systematically and thoughtfully reviewed. Recommendations are given on screening and detection methods in the school population and at-risk populations; successful programs, training of professionals; referral to care and therapeutic resources; and early intervention. Also future lines are pointed out.

Purpose: To report the estimated incidence, probability, risk factors, and 1-year outcomes of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) in eyes receiving intravitreal injections (IVTs) of VEGF inhibitors for various retinal conditions in routine clinical practice.
Design: Retrospective analysis of data from a prospectively designed observational outcomes registry: the Fight Retinal Blindness!
Participants: Eyes of patients starting IVTs of VEGF inhibitors (ranibizumab, aflibercept, or bevacizumab) for neovascular age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, or retinal vein occlusion from January 1, 2006, to December 31, 2020. All eyes that developed RRD within 90 days of IVTs were defined as cases with RRD and were matched with control eyes.

Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is one of the main neurodegenerative diseases worldwide. Unfortunately, AD shares many similarities with other dementias at early stages, which impedes an accurate diagnosis. Therefore, it is urgent to find biomarkers to allow for early diagnosis of the disease.

The yellow-legged Asian hornet ( Lepeletier 1836 (Hymenoptera: Vespidae)) is naturally distributed in China, Southeast Asia, and India; however, recently it has been detected outside of its native area, confirmed as being established in South Korea, Europe, and Japan. Health risks and deaths caused by the invasive stings have become a public health concern, being the most common cause of anaphylaxis due to hymenopterans in some European regions. This in turn has led to increased demand from medical practitioners and researchers for venom for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.

Purpose: To elucidate dysregulated proteins in keratoconus (KC) to provide a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms that lead to the development of the disease using sequential window acquisition of all theoretical mass spectra (SWATH-MS) as a protein quantification tool of the tear proteomic profile.
Methods: Prospective cross-sectional study that includes 25 keratoconic eyes and 25 healthy eyes. All participants underwent a clinical, tomographic, and aberrometric exam.
