Hospital Pharmacist Manager, Pharmaceutical Department, Asl Napoli 3 Sud., Italy. Electronic address:

Statins are crucial for both the prevention and management of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). However, even with optimized statin therapy, a significant residual risk of ASCVD remains, highlighting the need for innovative approaches to lipid-lowering therapies (LLT) that more effectively target low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and other atherogenic lipoproteins. Recently, novel pharmacologic agents have been introduced for the management of dyslipidemia.

November 2023

Istituto Nazionale Tumori di Napoli, IRCCS "G. Pascale", Via Mariano Semmola, 80131 Napoli, Italy.

Oligo-metastatic disease (OMD) in the field of oncology denotes a distinct subset of metastatic tumors characterized by less aggressive biological behavior and extended survival times in comparison to their widely metastatic counterparts. While there is a general consensus regarding the existence of OMD, there remains a lack of widely accepted criteria for its a priori identification at the time of presentation. This review delves into the concept of OMD, placing a particular emphasis on the significance of understanding the limitations and potential of genetic assessments.

Results: New legislation called "note 100" was introduced in early 2022, outlining the eligibility of certain categories of drugs used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus for direct prescription by primary care physicians in Italy.

The renin-angiotensin system (RAS) plays a crucial role and coordinates multiple body functions through its hormonal mechanism. The RAS is supported in its function by numerous peptides such as angiotensin II (Ang II), Ang IV, Ang III, angiotensin (1-7) and (1-9). The system formed by ACE2/Ang(1-7)/MASr is a regulatory pathway within the RAS system and its functions are different from those of the ACE/Ang II/AT-1r system.
