Development and Content Validity of a Questionnaire on Peripheral Intravenous Catheter Maintenance and Knowledge of Nursing Professionals Regarding Best Practices.

The aims of this study were to develop a questionnaire on peripheral intravenous catheter (PIVC) maintenance, evaluate its content validity, and assess factors influencing the level of knowledge of nursing professionals regarding best practices.The study was conducted in 3 stages: (1) development of a questionnaire on PIVC maintenance; (2) content validity assessment by experts with assessment of comprehensiveness, relevance, and clarity; and (3) application of the questionnaire to 1493 nursing professionals. Relationships between personal characteristics and knowledge levels were evaluated.

P2Y12 inhibitors plus aspirin versus aspirin alone in patients with ischemic cerebrovascular events: An updated meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

Background: The efficacy and safety of P2Y12 inhibitors (P2Y12i) with aspirin in patients with non-cardioembolic ischemic cerebrovascular events remains a topic of ongoing debate. Therefore, we conducted an updated meta-analysis to compare these drugs with aspirin alone.

Methods: We systematically searched PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Central for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing the two treatment regimens in patients with ischemic cerebrovascular events.

Urethral instrumentation in men with artificial urinary sphincter: a national survey among Brazilian urologists.

Purpose: Urethral instrumentation (UI) in patients with an artificial urinary sphincter (AUS) demands technical considerations and poses a risk of urethral erosion, leading to serious clinical and legal consequences. We conducted a national survey to evaluate the knowledge and experience of Brazilian urologists with UI in these patients.

Methods: This study used an electronic survey distributed to members of the Brazilian Society of Urology.

[Permanent health education for managers as a tool to combat institutional racism in a Northeastern Brazilian municipality].

This article discusses the experience of a permanent health education initiative focused on institutional racism with health professionals from the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS) holding management positions in a municipality in the interior of Bahia, in Northeastern Brazil. A workshop was held in September 2022, based on a problematizing methodology called the Maguerez Arc, conducted by residents of the Multiprofessional Family Health Program. Ten managers participated in the workshop, most of whom were women.

Kahook Dual Blade Goniotomy versus iStent Implantation Combined with Phacoemulsification: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.

Prcis: In this meta-analysis, Kahook dual blade goniotomy achieved higher rates of surgical success compared to iStent/iStent inject implantation combined with phacoemulsification. KDB goniotomy demonstrated better IOP reduction at month 6 compared to the Stent group.

Effects of the TIV-Disinfect educational intervention in pediatric units: a quasi-experimental study.

Objective: To verify the effect of the educational intervention TIV-Disinfect (Intravenous Therapy-Disinfect) on the knowledge of nursing professionals in pediatric inpatient units.

Method: Quasi-experimental study, with a dependent sample of 65 nursing professionals from pediatric inpatient units. A questionnaire with objective questions regarding the disinfection of venous devices was used, and pre- and post-tests were applied.

Enhancing Podocyte Degenerative Changes Identification With Pathologist Collaboration: Implications for Improved Diagnosis in Kidney Diseases.

Podocyte degenerative changes are common in various kidney diseases, and their accurate identification is crucial for pathologists to diagnose and treat such conditions. However, this can be a difficult task, and previous attempts to automate the identification of podocytes have not been entirely successful. To address this issue, this study proposes a novel approach that combines pathologists' expertise with an automated classifier to enhance the identification of podocytopathies.

Clinical and urodynamic findings in children and adolescents with neurogenic bladder undergoing augmentation cystoplasty: a systematic review.

Background: Augmentation cystoplasty (AC) is a procedure to improve the clinical and urodynamic parameters of neurogenic bladder (NB) in children and adolescents refractory to other treatments. We performed a systematic review to investigate these parameters in children and adolescents with NB undergoing AC.

Methods: We followed PRISMA guidelines and searched electronic databases until March 2024 for studies involving patients aged three to 19 years diagnosed with NB undergoing AC.

Cannabis therapy in rheumatological diseases: A systematic review.

Cannabis has been used in rheumatic diseases as therapy for chronic pain or inflammatory conditions. Herein, the authors systematically review the rheumatological diseases in which cannabis has been studied: systemic sclerosis, fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, polymyalgia rheumatica, gout, dermatomyositis, and psoriatic arthritis. We systematically searched PubMed for articles on cannabis and rheumatic diseases between 1966 and March 2023.
