Objective: To describe an effective two-step surgical approach for the management of cesarean scar ectopic pregnancies (CSEPs). CSEPs occur at an estimated frequency of 1 in 1,800 pregnancies, constituting approximately 6% of ectopic pregnancies in women with a history of prior cesarean delivery [1, 2]. Despite numerous recommended therapeutic approaches, the most effective treatment strategy remains uncertain [3].

Introduction: Biphasic or segmented sleep is the habit of sleeping a first and a second sleep separated by a watching. The historian A Ekirch found that this was how people slept in pre-industrial times before the powerful artificial lighting. He is based on texts in different languages, from Antiquity to the 20th century, but the absence of sources in Spanish is striking.

May 2021

Instituto de Investigaciones Biomédicas en Retrovirus y SIDA, Facultad de Medicina. UBA-CONICET, Paraguay 2155, C1121ABG CABA, Argentina. Electronic address:

Background: Perhaps reflecting that children with COVID-19 rarely exhibit severe respiratory symptoms and often remain asymptomatic, little attention has been paid to explore the immune response in pediatric COVID-19. Here, we analyzed the phenotype and function of circulating neutrophils from children with COVID-19.

Methods: An observational study including 182 children with COVID-19, 21 children with multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C), and 40 healthy children was performed in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Stereotactic radiosurgery has shown effectiveness in the multimodal treatment of skull base tumors, however it is suggested that in radiobiologically sensitive areas (eg. optic nerves and brainstem) the radiation dose should be reduced due to radiotoxic effects. To avoid the consequent therapeutic ineffectiveness, a recently implemented alternative is multisession radiosurgery (RCH).

Research Question: Can carnosic acid, (CA) rosmarinic acid (RA) and wogonin (WG) inhibit the growth of cultured human endometrial stromal cells and endometriotic-like lesions induced in a BALB/c model of endometriosis?

Design: Primary stromal cell cultures were established from endometrial biopsies from women with endometriosis and controls. The human endometrial stromal cell line T-HESC was also used for in-vitro experiments. Endometriosis was surgically induced in BALB/c mice, which were randomly assigned to CA 2 mg/kg/day (n = 11); CA 20 mg/kg/day (n = 10); RA 1 mg/kg/day (n = 11); RA 3 mg/kg/day (n = 10); WG 20 mg/kg/day (n = 12); intraperitoneal vehicle control (n = 8) or oral vehicle control (n = 11).

The aim of this investigation was to evaluate the results of antifungal susceptibility for various Candida species using the Vitek 2 semi-automated system (AST-YSO1 cards, bioMérieux), and to compare them with those obtained by the CLSI (Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute) broth microdilution reference method (Document M27-A3,2008). The essential agreement (EA) was > 90%, except for Candida glabrata against voriconazole (VCZ); and for Candida krusei against fluconazole (FCZ). The overall categorical agreement (CA) was > 90% when FCZ was evaluated and 89.

A total of 115 unique clinical isolates of Neisseria gonorrhoeae and 54 strains of other genera and species included in the database of the NH card were tested by the Vitek 2C System (bioMèrieux, Marcy L'Etoile, Francia). The gonoccocal isolates had been previously identified by conventional biochemical tests and by the latex agglutination test with monoclonal antibodies using the Phadebact Monoclonal GC Test (Bactus AB, Sweden). The NH card correctly identified 111 (96.

A prospective observational study was conducted in two hospitals of Buenos Aires city (Argentina); 191 clinically significant monomicrobial gram-negative bloodstream infections were included in the study, which combined the Bact-Alert System Blood culture machine and the Vitek 2C System. Organism identification and susceptibility results directly from blood culture bottles were compared with those obtained from cards inoculated with a standardized bacterial suspension obtained following subculture on agar. By comparing the results obtained from pure cultures with those by the Vitek 2C System as reference method, the agreement between the reference method and the direct identification from positive blood cultures was 99 %.
