Endovascular strategies for stroke management after subacute in-stent thrombosis.

J Clin Neurosci

November 2020

University of Washington School of Medicine, Department of Neurological Surgery, and Stroke & Applied Neuroscience Center, United States. Electronic address:

Subacute in-stent thrombosis is a rare but potentially fatal condition that can occur after treatment for intracranial aneurysms or stenosis. While immediate and late thromboembolic post-stent complications are well-described, subacute (2-30 days post-intervention) thrombosis is unusual. The administration of peri-operative dual anti-platelet therapy (DAPT) has significantly reduced the risk for thrombosis, but questions remain as to the choice of agents and treatment of thromboembolic complications in this setting.

Internal carotid dissection is the most common cause of stroke in the young population. Stroke, the presence of a pseudoaneurysm, and decreased artery lumen with cerebral flow impairment are indications for treatment. Medical therapy with antithrombotic drugs and endovascular therapy with stenting are the main available options.

Objective: To evaluate the performance of the 2019 European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR)/American College of Rheumatology (ACR) systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) criteria in terms of earlier patients' classification in comparison to the 1982/1997 ACR or the 2012 Systemic Lupus International Collaborating Clinics (SLICC) criteria.

Materials And Methods: Patients from a Latin America, multiethnic, multicentre cohort, where SLE was defined using the physicians' diagnosis, were included. To calculate the sensitivity of the 2019 EULAR/ACR criteria, the 1982/1997 ACR criteria were considered the gold standard.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) lacks prognostic and predictive markers. Here, we use high-throughput phosphoproteomics to build a functional TNBC taxonomy. A cluster of 159 phosphosites is upregulated in relapsed cases of a training set (n = 34 patients), with 11 hyperactive kinases accounting for this phosphoprofile.

Mucosal leishmaniasis (ML) is associated with progressive tissue destruction and granuloma formation, often after a considerable period of latency from an initial cutaneous infection. We report a case of recurrent epistaxis of 3 years duration and nasopharyngeal obstruction in a woman with treated cutaneous leishmaniasis nearly 30 years before and with no further exposure to Leishmania. Computed tomography revealed nasal septal perforation and histopathology demonstrated chronic inflammation.
