Introduction And Aim: Studies regarding asynchrony in patients in the cardiac postoperative period are still only a few. The main objective of our study was to compare asynchronies incidence and its index (AI) in 3 different modes of ventilation (volume-controlled ventilation [VCV], pressure-controlled ventilation [PCV] and pressure-support ventilation [PSV]) after ICU admission for postoperative care.

Foramen magnum (FM) meningiomas are challenging lesions. We present the case of a 38-year-old female with neck pain, dysphonia, and slight twelfth nerve palsy. Imaging workup was highly suggestive of an FM meningioma, and microsurgical resection with the aid of intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring was indicated.

Objective: to identify the prevalence of trauma in elderly people and how they accessed the health system through pre-hospital care.
Method: documentary and retrospective study at a mobile emergency care service, using a sample of 400 elderly trauma victims selected through systematic random sampling. A form validated by experts was used to collect the data.

Objective: This study was aimed at analysing health workers' social representations concerning occupational risks.
Methods: The study adopted a qualitative approach using social representation theory; it was carried out with doctors, nurses and dentists from a Natal/RN-BR hospital dealing with emergencies. A semi-structured interview was used for data collection using the following question for interviewee orientation, "What do occupational hazards mean to you?" The data was analysed by Alceste software based on a dendogram generating four classes containing statements by the subjects who were interviewed.
