The clinical presentation, diagnosis and management of anorectal malformation has been well described in the literature, however the experience with these conditions in low-and middle-income countries is often shaped in unique ways due to the social, cultural and economic factors at work in these regions. This leads to adaptation of modifications in management options for these babies that usually present as delayed cases with added poor prognostic factors like sepsis leading to need for emergency resuscitation and overall increased morbidity and mortality. This article explores the anomaly from a global surgery lens and outlines the spectrum of the anomaly, burden faced in the resource constrained environment and the management options adopted for successful management under the available circumstances.

Introduction: Oxygen is pivotal for wound healing. Its lack or hypoxia can delay this process, especially in individuals with comorbidities, potentially resulting in complex or hard-to-heal wounds. The Colombian Association of Diabetes (ACD) and the Colombian Association of Internal Medicine (ACMI) collaborated with a diverse group of experts to provide recommendations on the efficacy and best practices of continuous transdermal oxygen therapy (TOTc) in the care of such wounds.

Objectives: To evaluate the association between Colombia's third wave when the Mu variant was predominant epidemiologically (until 75%) in Colombia and COVID-19 all-cause in-hospital mortality.
Methods: In this retrospective cohort, we included hospitalized patients ≥18 years with SARS-CoV-2 infection between March 2020 to September 2021 in ten hospitals from three cities in Colombia. Description analysis, survival, and multivariate Cox regression analyses were performed to evaluate the association between the third epidemic wave and in-hospital mortality.

SHOX gene mutations or haploinsufficiency cause a wide range of phenotypes such as Leri Weill dyschondrosteosis (LWD), Turner syndrome, and disproportionate short stature (DSS). However, this gene has also been found to be mutated in cases of idiopathic short stature (ISS) with a 3-15% frequency. In this study, the multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MLPA) technique was employed to determine the frequency of SHOX gene mutations and their conserved noncoding elements (CNE) in Colombian patients with ISS.
