Background: Real-world data on the effectiveness of upadacitinib for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are limited.
Aims: To assess upadacitinib persistence, effectiveness, and safety in a real-world scenario.
Methods: Retrospective multicentre study of IBD patients who received upadacitinib before 31st December 2022 and at least 12 weeks before the recruitment date.

Background: Severe aortic stenosis (AS) coexists with coronary artery disease (CAD) in approximately 50% of patients. The preferred treatment is combined surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) and coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). However, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) along with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has emerged as a viable alternative.

Malnutrition is common in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients and is associated with worse lung function and greater severity. This review by the Andalusian Group for Nutrition Reflection and Investigation (GARIN) addresses the nutritional management of adult COPD patients, focusing on Morphofunctional Nutritional Assessment and intervention in clinical practice. A systematic literature search was performed using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) methodology, followed by critical appraisal based on Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) guidelines.

Introduction And Aims: Fabry disease (FD) causes glycosphingolipid accumulation in the vascular endothelium, with predominantly cardiac and renal involvement. Its prevalence in patients with concomitant involvement of these two organs is unknown. The objective of the study was to determine the prevalence of FD in patients with left ventricular hypertrophy and any degree of chronic kidney disease.

Background And Objectives: Cardiac amyloidosis (CA) is a common pathology in elderly patients that usually presents as heart failure (HF). However, it is not clear whether CA associated with HF has a worse prognosis compared with HF due to other etiologies.
Material And Methods: Prospective, observational cohort study that recruited patients ≥65 years of age with HF in 30 Spanish centers.
Introduction: malnutrition is a very frequent problem in oncology patients and may have serious repercussions. Adequate nutritional management is cost-effective in terms of health and survival in this population, but it requires multidisciplinary coordination, specific training, and continuous follow-up. Objective: to validate the applicability and efficacy of a multidisciplinary nutritional support protocol in oncology patients.

The elderly population frequently consults the emergency department (ED). This population could have greater use of EDs and hospital health resources. The EDEN cohort of patients aged 65 years or older visiting the ED allowed this association to be investigated.

However, these comorbidities have been reported less frequently than expected. Chronic treatment with inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) may impact the clinical course of COVID-19.

This article reviews the role of fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23) protein in phosphate metabolism, highlighting its regulation of vitamin D, parathyroid hormone, and bone metabolism. Although it was traditionally thought that phosphate-calcium homeostasis was controlled exclusively by parathyroid hormone (PTH) and calcitriol, pathophysiological studies revealed the influence of FGF23. This protein, expressed mainly in bone, inhibits the renal reabsorption of phosphate and calcitriol formation, mediated by the α-klotho co-receptor.

Recent systematic reviews suggest that pharmacists' interventions in asthma patients have a positive impact on health-related outcomes. Nevertheless, the association is not well established, and the role of clinical pharmacists is poorly represented. The aim of this overview of systematic reviews is to identify published systematic reviews assessing the impact of pharmacists' interventions on health-related outcomes measured in asthma patients.

Purpose: HER2-targeted therapies have dramatically improved outcomes of patients with HER2-positive breast cancer (BC), as demonstrated in neoadjuvant trials. This study aims to provide real-world evidence on the use and effectiveness of combined pertuzumab, trastuzumab and chemotherapy (CT) in early-stage HER2-positive BC.
Methods: A retrospective, multicentre study was conducted on patients diagnosed with HER2-positive early BC treated with neoadjuvant pertuzumab and trastuzumab plus CT at 13 Spanish sites.

Introduction: To establish whether glycemic variability (GV) parameters used when gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) has been diagnosed could help predict the probability that a patient will need pharmacological treatment, and to analyze the link of these parameters to the development of maternal-fetal complications.
Materials And Methods: A prospective study of 87 women with GDM who underwent retrospective continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) for six days between weeks 26 and 32 of gestation, following diagnosis. The mean glycemia levels and GV variables were analyzed together with their link to maternal-fetal complications, and the need for pharmacological treatment.

The treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has undergone a change because of the advancement of new therapies, like immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), including pembrolizumab. A 64-year-old woman received a kidney transplant in 2012 because of chronic kidney disease secondary to glomerulosclerosis, diagnosed in 2020 with stage IV NSCLC because of metastasis in the contralateral lung, with programmed death ligand 1programmed death ligand 1 expression of 98%, starting treatment with ICIs, despite presenting a graft rejection risk around 40%. After three ICIs cycles, the patient presented a partial response, with good tolerance to treatment and no signs of graft failure.

Introduction And Objectives: Sedation is used in intensive care units (ICU) to improve comfort and tolerance during mechanical ventilation, invasive interventions, and nursing care. In recent years, the use of inhalation anaesthetics for this purpose has increased. Our objective was to obtain and summarise the best evidence on inhaled sedation in adult patients in the ICU, and use this to help physicians choose the most appropriate approach in terms of the impact of sedation on clinical outcomes and the risk-benefit of the chosen strategy.
