Background & Aims: Malnutrition, sarcopenia, and frailty are prevalent in cirrhosis. We aimed to assess the correlation between assessment tools for malnutrition, sarcopenia, and frailty in patients on the liver transplant (LT) waiting list (WL), and to identify a predictive model for acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) development.
Methods: This prospective single-center study enrolled consecutive patients with cirrhosis on the WL for LT (May 2019-November 2021).

Background: Cystatin C (CysC) is an early biomarker of renal dysfunction scarcely studied in patients awaiting liver transplantation (LT). Sarcopenia is frequent in cirrhosis and impacts prognosis. We aimed to assess the capability of these factors to predict survival and acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) in patients awaiting LT, as well as early post-LT outcomes.

Unlabelled: Host resistance has precluded clinical islet transplantation from becoming a consistent therapy for type I diabetic patients, mainly due to both specific and nonspecific processes. O-glycosylated proteins have a primary role in immunologic synapses. Therefore, we investigated the effects of a putative immunomodulatory effect of the cleavage of these molecules on islet allotransplantation.

As there is an increased incidence of gastroesophageal reflux (GER) in asthmatic patients compared with the normal population, in the present trial we have tried to establish the following: 1) Possible differences in pH-metric variables between patients with GER and asthma, and asthmatic patients with or without GER 2) The usefulness of simultaneous evaluation and correlation of reflux episodes with the respiratory peak flow (EPF) in asthmatic patients. 31 patients divided in four groups were compared. A) 16 patients with typical symptoms of GER without respiratory symptoms.
