After a number of failed drug studies on Alzheimer's disease (AD) over the past decade, clinical trials of AD started to show encouraging results and were approved or pending approval for clinical use. However, controversies on the clinically meaningful benefits and risks of brain edema and microhemorrhages have reminded us to think further about monitoring treatment and developing new drug targets. The goal of this review is to find insights from clinical trials that aimed at two key pathological features of AD, i.

Losing either type of cochlear sensory hair cells leads to hearing impairment. Inner hair cells act as primary mechanoelectrical transducers, while outer hair cells enhance sound-induced vibrations within the organ of Corti. Established inner ear damage models, such as systemic administration of ototoxic aminoglycosides, yield inconsistent and variable hair cell death in mice.

Understanding the complex pathologies associated with hearing loss is a significant motivation for conducting inner ear research. Lifelong exposure to loud noise, ototoxic drugs, genetic diversity, sex, and aging collectively contribute to human hearing loss. Replicating this pathology in research animals is challenging because hearing impairment has varied causes and different manifestations.

This document is the outcome of a group of experts brought together at the request of the French Society of Sleep Research and Medicine to provide recommendations for the management of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome type 1 (OSA) in children. The recommendations are based on shared experience and published literature. OSA is suspected when several nighttime respiratory symptoms related to upper airway obstruction are identified on clinical history taking.

Background: Cangrelor is an intravenous P2Y12 inhibitor with rapid onset and fast offset of antiplatelet action. Dose adjusted cangrelor based on platelet function testing is suggested to be advantageous for use during neuroendovascular procedures. In this study, we aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of this strategy.

Background: Although wisdom-tooth extraction is a routine intervention, the postoperative period remains marked by local inflammation classically manifesting as pain, edema and trismus. Furthermore, there is no consensus on the best operative techniques, particularly for the mucosal closure stage on impacted mandibular wisdom teeth.
Methods: This parallel, randomized, non-blinded study compared pain following removal of impacted third molars, with and without sutures.

Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the implementation of France's neonatal hearing loss screening programme years after its launch, and to estimate permanent bilateral neonatal hearing loss (PBNHL) prevalence and distribution by severity.
Methods: This descriptive study used aggregated regional data on all births in France in 2015-2016. Screening coverage, refusal rate, positive predictive value (PPV), proportion of children with suspected PBNHL, PBNHL prevalence and distribution by severity were calculated.
Background: There are many scales for screening the impact of a disease. These scales are generally used to diagnose or assess the type and severity of a disease and are carried out by doctors. The chatbot helps patients suffering from primary headache disorders through personalized text messages.

According to the World Health Organization, half the adult population around the world suffers from headaches. Even though this condition remains in most cases innocuous, it can have a major impact on the patient's quality of life but also on public health expenditure. Moreover, most patients manage their headaches on their own, without consulting a doctor.

Background: Air pollution exposure is one of the modifiable risk factors of cognitive decline. We aimed to test the association between exposure to several outdoor air pollutants and domain-specific cognitive performance.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, we used data from the enrolment phase of the French CONSTANCES cohort.

Introduction: No evidence exists about the impact of air pollution reduction on incidence of dementia. The aim of this study was to quantify how air quality improvement leads to dementia-incidence benefits.
Methods: In the French Three-City cohort (12 years of follow-up), we used parametric g-computation to quantify the expected number of prevented dementia cases under different hypothetical interventions with particulate matter measuring <2.

Objectives: The aim of our study was to describe clinical presentations, bacteriological results, and therapeutic management in a pediatric population presenting with acute pharyngeal suppuration. A further aim was to identify clinical, bacteriological, and radiological predictors of success associated with exclusive medical treatment.
Method: A retrospective study was carried out including patients under 18 years of age hospitalized between January 1, 2015 and December 31, 2017 in our center for acute pharyngeal suppuration.

Background And Objectives: To our knowledge, no study has investigated the effect of exposure to formaldehyde on cognition in the general population. Our objective was to examine the association between occupational exposure to formaldehyde and cognitive impairment in middle-aged and young-old adults (≥45 years).
Methods: In the French CONSTANCES cohort, cognitive function was assessed with a standardized battery of 7 cognitive tests to evaluate global cognitive function, episodic verbal memory, language abilities, and executive functions (e.

Objective: Intra-procedural WEB device migration is a scarcely reported complication that necessitates prompt intervention.
Case Presentation: Endovascular treatment of two broad necked flow-related aneurysms was planned aided by WEB-SL (Woven EndoBridge-single layer) devices in a 71-year-old female with known left temporal arteriovenous malformation. Inadvertent distal migration occurred while performing a control angiogram with an automated iodine injector.

The G4C2-repeat expansion in C9orf72 is the most common cause of frontotemporal dementia and of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The variability of age at onset and phenotypic presentations is a hallmark of C9orf72 disease. In this study, we aimed to identify modifying factors of disease onset in C9orf72 carriers using a family-based approach, in pairs of C9orf72 carrier relatives with concordant or discordant age at onset.

Importance: Mechanical thrombectomy using a stent retriever or contact aspiration is widely used for treatment of patients with acute ischemic stroke due to anterior circulation large vessel occlusion, but the additional benefit of combining contact aspiration with stent retriever is uncertain.
Objective: To determine whether mechanical thrombectomy for treatment of anterior circulation large vessel occlusion stroke with initial contact aspiration and stent retriever combined results in better final angiographic outcome than with standard stent retriever alone.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This trial was a multicenter randomized, open-label, blinded end point evaluation that enrolled 408 patients from October 16, 2017, to May 29, 2018, in 11 French comprehensive stroke centers, with a 12-month outcome follow-up.
