Caudal epidural block is a simple and safe technique with a low complication rate commonly used for pediatric anesthesia and treatment of chronic lumbosacral pain. However, it is not exempt from some risks that, although infrequent, should be known. We describe the case of a 48-year-old female with chronic lumbosacral radicular pain who underwent caudal epidural infiltration.

Patients aged 50 or above diagnosed with myeloid neoplasms (MNs) are typically not candidates for germline testing. However, approximately 8% carry pathogenic germline variants. Allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (alloHSCT) remains an option for those aged over 50; neglecting germline testing could mask the risk for relative donor cell-derived MN.

Background: Belantamab mafodotin (belamaf) has shown promising antimyeloma activity in relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM) as a single agent. It was hypothesized that its multimodal activity may be enhanced by programmed cell death protein 1 pathway inhibition and activation of T cell-mediated antitumor responses. This study investigated the efficacy and safety of belamaf with pembrolizumab in patients with RRMM.

Parsaclisib, a potent and highly selective phosphoinositide 3-kinase δ inhibitor, has shown clinical activity in relapsed/refractory (R/R) B-cell lymphoma. The phase 1 CITADEL-112 (NCT03424122) study assessed safety and efficacy of parsaclisib in combination with investigator choice standard of care (SOC; rituximab [Treatment A], rituximab plus bendamustine [Treatment B], or ibrutinib [Treatment C]) in 50 patients with R/R B-cell lymphoma. The most common treatment-emergent adverse events included neutropenia (62.

To date, no differences have been found between stroke subtype and time distribution throughout the day. The present study aims to compare the seasonal and circadian rhythm of symptoms onset in ischemic, hemorrhagic, and stroke mimic patients.

Introduction: We aimed to identify the incidence and risk factors of spontaneous preterm birth in pessary carriers with singleton pregnancies and a short cervix in the mid-trimester of pregnancy.
Material And Methods: Patient data were obtained from the PECEP Trial. We analyzed singleton pregnancies in pessary carriers with a short cervix (≤25 mm) between 18 and 22 gestational weeks.

Background: Nursing students need to learn about sexually transmitted infections and preeclampsia. Cinenureducation is a rigorous method that uses materials from commercial movies or television series to teach health sciences students.
Objectives: Using content analysis of the television series Call the Midwife, design a cinenureducation activity teaching nursing students about sexually transmitted infections and preeclampsia.

Background: Pneumonia is a major public health problem with an impact on morbidity and mortality. Its management still represents a challenge. The aim was to determine whether a new diagnostic algorithm combining lung ultrasound (LUS) and procalcitonin (PCT) improved pneumonia management regarding antibiotic use, radiation exposure, and associated costs, in critically ill pediatric patients with suspected bacterial pneumonia (BP).

Background: Observational data suggest that the subset of patients with heart failure related CS (HF-CS) now predominate critical care admissions for CS. There are no dedicated HF-CS randomised control trials completed to date which reliably inform clinical practice or clinical guidelines. We sought to identify aspects of HF-CS care where both consensus and uncertainty may exist to guide clinical practice and future clinical trial design, with a specific focus on HF-CS due to acute decompensated chronic HF.

Among myeloid regulatory cells (MRCs), some particular subsets termed myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) have been described. They are suppressor myeloid cells characterized by their ability to regulate innate and adaptive immune responses and known to accumulate in the context of chronic diseases and cancer. The lack of specific markers makes their classification difficult and requires functional studies to distinguish them from other myeloid cells.

Background: The benefits of reverse shoulder arthroplasty compared to nonoperative treatment for patients presenting with complex proximal fractures have been rarely explored. The aim of this prospective study was to compare the functional results of reverse shoulder arthroplasty with those of nonsurgical treatment in patients with displaced proximal humeral fractures.
Methods: A multicentric prospective randomized control trial of patients older than 70 years who sustained an acute proximal humeral fracture (3 or 4 parts), with less than 3 weeks of evolution, and had no previous condition or surgery on the affected shoulder was conducted.

Introduction: Obesity is a chronic condition associated with low-grade inflammation mainly due to immune cell infiltration of white adipose tissue (WAT). WAT is distributed into two main depots: subcutaneous WAT (sWAT) and visceral WAT (vWAT), each with different biochemical features and metabolic roles. Proinflammatory cytokines including interleukin (IL)-16 are secreted by both adipocytes and infiltrated immune cells to upregulate inflammation.

The efficacy of anti-viral T-cell vaccines may greatly depend on their ability to generate high-magnitude responses targeting a broad range of different epitopes. Recently, we created the HIV T-cell immunogen HTI, designed to generate T-cell responses to protein fragments more frequently targeted by HIV controllers. In the present study, we aim to maximize the breadth and magnitude of the T-cell responses generated by HTI by combining different vaccine vectors expressing HTI.

This paper presents baseline results from the NutriEcoMuscle study, a multicenter observational study conducted in Spain which focused on changes in nutritional status, body composition, and functionality in post-intensive care unit (ICU) COVID-19 patients following a nutritional intervention. Assessments at hospital discharge included Subjective Global Assessment (SGA), Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) criteria, the Barthel index, handgrip strength (HGS) and the Timed Up-and-Go test, bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), and nutritional ultrasound (US). The study involved 96 patients (71.
