Tuberculosis is an ancient disease that has accompanied humanity for the last three thousand years and is considered the oldest infectious disease that still exists. The Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacillus was spread worldwide due to human migrations, and there is archaeological evidence of spinal tuberculosis cases in Egyptian and Andean mummies, as well as texts that attributed the disease to social factors before suspecting its infectious nature. Throughout its history, humans have dealt with this pathology by developing unusual and ineffective therapies, leading to a significant increase in the disease's mortality.

Myxoid endometriosis, a rare entity, is part of the histological changes that can occur in endometriosis. Pathologists must know the histological guidelines for the morphological recognition of this entity, as well as the histochemical and immunohistochemical techniques that support diagnosis, and define the morphological characteristics of myxoid endometriosis. In the present work, we propose diagnostic guidelines and primary differential diagnoses using special histochemical techniques and immunohistochemical reactions to recognize this entity.

Facultad de Quimica, Posgrado Química Clínica Diagnóstica, Universidad Autonoma de Queretaro, México. Electronic address:

Background: The early diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy (DN) is essential for improving the prognosis and effectively manage patients affected with this disease. The standard biomarkers, including albuminuria and glomerular filtration rate, are not very precise. New molecular biomarkers are needed to more accurately identify DN and better predict disease progression.
