As cancer progresses, patients may experience physical decline, which can impair their ability to carry out essential daily tasks. The aim of this study was to analyze the levels of physical activity in patients with advanced cancer undergoing systemic treatment and its relationship with sociodemographic, clinical, and psychological factors. A prospective, cross-sectional, multicenter study was carried out in 15 oncology departments in Spain.

Purpose: This phase II clinical trial evaluated the combination of ibrutinib with rituximab, gemcitabine, and oxaliplatin (R-GemOx) in patients with nongerminal center B-cell-like (non-GCB) diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).
Patients And Methods: The IBDCL trial (NCT02692248) included patients with histologic diagnosis of non-GCB DLBCL with relapsed or refractory disease and non-candidates for stem-cell transplantation. Patients received an induction treatment consisting of six or eight cycles of R-GemOx at standard doses every 2 weeks, in combination with ibrutinib (560 mg daily), followed by a maintenance treatment with ibrutinib for a maximum of 2 years.
Background: There are no studies assessing the evolution and patterns of genetic studies performed at diagnosis in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients. Such studies could help to identify potential gaps in our present diagnostic practices, especially in the context of increasingly complex procedures and classifications.
Methods: The REALMOL study (NCT05541224) evaluated the evolution, patterns, and clinical impact of performing main genetic and molecular studies performed at diagnosis in 7285 adult AML patients included in the PETHEMA AML registry (NCT02607059) between 2000 and 2021.

FLT3-ITD and NPM1 mutations are key to defining the genetic risk profile of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). We aimed to assess the prognostic features of the FLT3-ITD and NPM1 mutations in old and/or unfit individuals with AML treated with non-intensive therapies in the era before azacitidine-venetoclax approbation. The results of various non-intensive regimens were also compared.

Total body irradiation (TBI)-based conditioning regimens are generally recommended for allogeneic HSCT (allo-HSCT) in patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Recent evidence suggests that modern chemotherapy-based regimens may be as effective. This multicenter retrospective study compared the clinical outcomes of myeloablative allo-HSCT with thiotepa, busulfan, and cyclophosphamide/fludarabine (TTB) to TBI-based conditioning.

Objective: Granulocyte-monocyte apheresis (GMA) has shown to be safe and effective in ulcerative colitis (UC), also in combination with biologics, mainly with anti-TNF. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of combining GMA after primary non-response (PNR) or loss of response (LOR) to ustekinumab (UST) in patients with UC.
Patients And Methods: A retrospective study was performed in 12 IBD Units, including all patients with refractory UC or unclassified IBD (IBD-U) who received combined GMA plus UST.

Background: Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory dermatosis whose clinical and topographic distribution requires differential diagnosis, or the possible association with allergic contact dermatitis (ACD), requiring patch testing (PT) as part of the diagnostic procedure.
Objectives: To describe the epidemiological, clinical, and allergic profile of patients with a primary or secondary diagnosis of psoriasis undergoing PT and compare them with patients with a diagnosis of ACD at the end of the diagnostic process.
Methods: Cross-sectional study with data from REIDAC from 2018 through 2023 of selected patients with a diagnosis of psoriasis and/or ACD.

Background: The objective of this study was to determine whether the concomitant presence of poor health status (COPD Assessment Test, CAT ≥ 10 points) and low exercise tolerance (6-Minute Walking Test, 6MWT < 350 m) is associated with worse clinical characteristics in patients with COPD. In addition, we aimed to develop a readily applicable diagnostic model to discriminate COPD patients with these conditions.
Methods: A cross-sectional multicenter study involving 208 stable COPD patients (FEV1/FVC < 0.

Introduction: Chronic heart failure (HF) has high rates of mortality and hospitalization in patients with advanced chronic kidney disease (aCKD). However, randomized clinical trials have systematically excluded aCKD population. We have investigated current HF therapy in patients receiving clinical care in specialized aCKD units.

Objectives: This study aims to delineate the specific impact of using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and 3D virtual surgery techniques in otolaryngology surgery, focusing on their roles in enhancing the precision of nasal surgery and optimizing future patient outcomes. The central objective was to assess whether these advanced technologies could reduce variability in surgical approaches and decision-making among specialists, thereby improving the consistency and efficacy of patient care in cases of nasal obstruction.
Methods And Results: Our methodology involved a detailed analysis of pre- and post-operative scenarios using CFD feedback.

Introduction And Objectives: Stroke and bleeding risks in atrial fibrillation (AF) are often assessed at baseline to predict outcomes years later. We investigated whether dynamic changes in CHADS-VASc and HAS-BLED scores over time modify risk prediction.
Methods: We included patients with AF who were stable while taking vitamin K antagonists.

Purpose: The relationship between attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and visual impairment remains poorly understood, and the impact of visual impairment on the development of ADHD is uncertain. The aim of this study was to investigate the refractive profile and ocular biometric characteristics in patients diagnosed with ADHD and compare them with a control group. Additionally, we aimed to explore the potential influence of sex and medication intake.

Cyanacrylate is not free of complications and a more commonly used alternative in clinical practice are prostheses that have the disadvantage of migrating in these cases where there is no stenosis; however, with their fixation using a specific device, migrations are greatly reduced. A good alternative to cyanacrylate, especially in cases of orifices or large tracts in which complications may appear, are the prostheses, which are also easier to handle in clinical practice. Sometimes cancer patients have upper gastrointestinal complications no subsidiary to surgical treatment, like a tumor fistula, that contraindicate chemotherapy.

Background: Afferent innervation of shoulder joints plays a fundamental role in nociception and mechanoception and its alteration result in shoulder´s disease that course with pain and functional disability.
Methods: Joints shoulder from healthy subjects (n = 20) and with chronic pain shoulder syndromes (n = 17) were analyzed using immunohistochemistry for S100 protein to identify nerve structures (nerve fibers and sensory corpuscles), coupled with a quantification of the sensory formations. Sensory nerve formations were quantified in 13 distinct areas in healthy joint shoulder and in the available equivalent areas in the pathological joints.

Background: The availability of multiple treatments for type 1 Gaucher disease increases the need for real-life studies to evaluate treatment efficacy and safety and provide clinicians with more information to choose the best personalized therapy for their patients.
Aims: To determine whether treatment with eliglustat produces, in adult GD1 patients, ans optimal response in daily clinical practice.
Methods: We designed a real-life study with 2 years of follow-up (TRAZELGA [GEE-ELI-2017-01]) to uniformly evaluate the response and adverse events to eliglustat treatment.
