Telepharmacy is defined as the practice of remote pharmaceutical care, using information and communication technologies. Given its growing importance in outpatient pharmaceutical care, the Spanish Society of Hospital Pharmacy developed a consensus document, Guía de entrevista telemática en atención farmacéutica, as part of its strategy for the development and expansion of telepharmacy, with key recommendations for effective pharmacotherapeutic monitoring and informed dispensing and delivery of medications through telematic interviews. The document was developed by a working group of hospital pharmacists with experience in the field.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined how clinical management of nonST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) differs between men and women, focusing on in-hospital events based on biological sex.
  • A total of 1,020 patients were enrolled, with women being older and frailer on average; they were less likely to undergo timely coronary angiography compared to men.
  • Despite differences in prescribed antithrombotic therapies, there were no significant disparities in the rates of coronary revascularization or in-hospital cardiovascular events between the sexes.

Introduction And Objectives: The optimal timing of coronary angiography in patients admitted with non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTEACS) as well as the need for pretreatment are controversial. The main objective of the IMPACT-TIMING-GO registry was to assess the proportion of patients undergoing an early invasive strategy (0-24hours) without dual antiplatelet therapy (no pretreatment strategy) in Spain.

Methods: This observational, prospective, and multicenter study included consecutive patients with NSTEACS who underwent coronary angiography that identified a culprit lesion.

Background: At present, we did not find any articles that studied seroprevalence and its persistence several months later in lung cancer patients in the setting of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. Most patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) go on to develop antibodies (Abs) against viral proteins. However, it is not known how long these Abs last nor whether cancer treatments could affect the duration of immune response.

Objectives: This multicenter cross-sectional study was conducted to assess the psychosocial impact of COVID-19 on patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in Spain during lockdown and the first wave of the pandemic.

Patients And Methods: A self-report questionnaire that integrated the Spanish version of the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale-21 items (DASS-21) and the Perceived Stress Questionnaire (PSS) was designed to gather sociodemographic data and information related to the effects of lockdown on the lives of IBD patients. Twelve IBD units invited their patients to answer the anonymous online survey between the 1st July and the 25th August 2020.

One-Step Nucleic Acid Amplification (OSNA) of Sentinel Lymph Node in Early-Stage Endometrial Cancer: Spanish Multicenter Study (ENDO-OSNA).

Cancers (Basel)

September 2021

Department of Pathology, Hospital Universitario La Paz, Molecular Pathology and Therapeutic Targets Group, Hospital La Paz Institute for Health Research (IdiPAZ), Center for Biomedical Research in the Cancer Network (Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red de Cáncer, CIBERONC), Instituto de Salud Carlos III, Faculty of Medicine, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, 28046 Madrid, Spain.

Article Synopsis
  • The study assessed the effectiveness of one-step nucleic acid amplification (OSNA) compared to traditional pathological ultrastaging for detecting sentinel lymph node metastasis in early-stage endometrial cancer patients.
  • A total of 526 sentinel lymph nodes from 191 patients were analyzed, revealing that OSNA identified metastasis in 19.7% of cases, while ultrastaging detected it in only 8.8%.
  • OSNA demonstrated high sensitivity (92%) and resulted in a reclassification of disease stage for some patients, highlighting its potential to better determine the need for additional treatment upon diagnosis.

Background: Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is an esophageal disorder predominantly triggered by food antigens. A six-food group elimination diet (SFGED) achieves remission in more than 70% of adult patients with EoE. After individual food reintroduction, just 1 or 2 food triggers for EoE can be identified in 65% to 85% of the patients, so some dietary restrictions and endoscopies after food challenge may be unnecessary.
