The lateral antebrachial cutaneous nerve (LACN) is the sensory branch of the musculocutaneous nerve and usually innervates the lateral aspect of the forearm. Isolated lesions are rare, of varied aetiology and generally underdiagnosed. We present a retrospective descriptive study of electromyography performed at the General University Hospital of Castellón in the last 20 years with isolated NCAL lesion.

Background: The underrepresentation of women in leadership remains a pervasive issue, prompting a critical examination of support mechanisms within professional settings. Background: In standard weaning from mechanical ventilation, a successful spontaneous breathing test (SBT) consisting of 30 min 8 cmHO pressure-support ventilation (PSV8) without positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) is followed by extubation with continuous suctioning; however, these practices might promote derecruitment. Evidence supports the feasibility and safety of extubation without suctioning. Ultrasound can assess lung aeration and respiratory muscles.

Background: There are no studies assessing the evolution and patterns of genetic studies performed at diagnosis in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients. Such studies could help to identify potential gaps in our present diagnostic practices, especially in the context of increasingly complex procedures and classifications.
Methods: The REALMOL study (NCT05541224) evaluated the evolution, patterns, and clinical impact of performing main genetic and molecular studies performed at diagnosis in 7285 adult AML patients included in the PETHEMA AML registry (NCT02607059) between 2000 and 2021.

FLT3-ITD and NPM1 mutations are key to defining the genetic risk profile of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). We aimed to assess the prognostic features of the FLT3-ITD and NPM1 mutations in old and/or unfit individuals with AML treated with non-intensive therapies in the era before azacitidine-venetoclax approbation. The results of various non-intensive regimens were also compared.

Fostamatinib, a recently approved Syk inhibitor used in adult primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), has been shown to be safe and effective in this disorder. However, clinical trial results may not be similarly reproduced in clinical practice. Here, 138 patients with ITP (both primary and secondary) from 42 Spanish centers who had been treated with fostamatinib were evaluated prospectively and retrospectively.

Enteral nutrition (EN) therapy in ICU patients requiring oxygen therapy with high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and/or noninvasive mechanical ventilation (NIMV) is controversial. A prospective, cohort, observational, and multicenter study was conducted in 10 ICUs in Spain to analyze the 90-day mortality, tolerance, side effects, and infectious complications of trophic EN in patients requiring HFNC therapy and/or NIVM. A total of 149 patients were enrolled.

affects elderly people and is associated with individuals with urological-related predispositions, but can be found in a variety of locations, such as cutaneous, intraabdominal, genitourinary and surgical infections. Disseminated infections occur less frequently and are by and large related to urinary tract colonisation. This pathogen is often neglected due to growth requirements, especially in urinary tract infections.

Transcranial ultrasonography is a non-invasive, bedside technique that has become a widely implemented tool in the evaluation and management of neurocritically ill patients. It constitutes a technique in continuous growth whose fundamentals (and limitations) must be known by the intensivist. This review provides a practical approach for the intensivist, including the different sonographic windows and planes of insonation and its role in different conditions of the neurocritical patients and in critical care patients of other etiologies.
