Oral garenoxacin in the treatment of acute bacterial maxillary sinusitis: a Phase II, multicenter, noncomparative, open-label study in adult patients undergoing sinus aspiration.

Background: Garenoxacin is a des-F(6)-quinolone with in vitro activity against key respiratory pathogens, including Streptococcus pneumoniae, Hemophilus influenzae, Staphylococcus aureus, and Moraxella catarrhalis. Limited data are available regarding the effect of garenoxacin in the treatment of acute bacterial sinusitis.

Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy and tolerability of garenoxacin in adults with acute bacterial maxillary sinusitis undergoing a pre-treatment diagnostic sinus aspirate.

Synovial tissue is a highly specialized tissue that keeps the articular joint well lubricated, and at the same time provides nutrients to the articular surface. A joint needs a small amount of synovial fluid to work. Although the tissue structure is simple, its function is highly sophisticated.

Nuchal fibrocartilaginous pseudotumor in a 10-year-old girl.

We report a case of a 10-year-old girl who, 4 years after a trauma to the neck, developed a soft tissue mass in the midline at the C5-6 level. The lesion was not attached to the bone and was composed of fibrocartilaginous tissue, similar to the nuchal fibrocartilaginous pseudotumor, a rare, recently reported condition that has been described in the medical literature in only 4 cases, all of them adults.
