Purpose Of Review: Most children and adolescents with allergic rhinitis (AR) present extra-nasal multimorbid conditions, including conjunctivitis, asthma, atopic dermatitis, rhinosinusitis, or seromucous otitis. Additionally, they may present nasal obstructive disorders, such as septal deformity, turbinate enlargement, and adenoidal hyperplasia, which worsen nasal symptoms, especially nasal obstruction. This is a narrative review on the current state of the concomitant presence of AR and one or more multimorbidities.

Aims: Alcoholic hepatitis (AH) is a life-threatening complication of alcohol use disorder (AUD). Alcohol abstinence is the main predictor of the long-term prognosis of AH. It is unknown whether AUD treatment retention (TR) after an AH episode impacts alcohol relapse and mortality or what baseline factors influence TR.

This open-label extension study evaluated the long-term safety and tolerability of idalopirdine 60 mg/day as adjunctive therapy in patients with mild-moderate Alzheimer's disease (AD). This extension study was a continuation of Studies 1 and 2 of the Phase III development program for idalopirdine and comprised a 28-week open-label treatment period ("OLEX") and a subsequent 24-week open-label treatment period with memantine ("MEMOLEX") in selected patients. The previous studies had shown no evidence of efficacy with idalopirdine as adjunctive treatment to donepezil but with good tolerability (of 1,791 patients randomized, 1,609 [90%] completed the double-blind studies).

Introduction: In this multicenter study on subjective cognitive decline (SCD) in community-based and memory clinic settings, we assessed the (1) incidence of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and non-AD dementia and (2) determinants of progression to dementia.
Methods: Eleven cohorts provided 2978 participants with SCD and 1391 controls. We estimated dementia incidence and identified risk factors using Cox proportional hazards models.

Auditory "oddball" event-related potentials (aoERPs), resting state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rsfMRI) connectivity, and electroencephalographic (rsEEG) rhythms were tested as longitudinal functional biomarkers of prodromal Alzheimer's disease (AD). Data were collected at baseline and four follow-ups at 6, 12, 18, and 24 months in amnesic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) patients classified in two groups: "positive" (i.e.

Aims: The aim was to evaluate the effectiveness of sensor-augmented pump therapy with predictive low-glucose suspend function (SAP-PLGS) in real-world use in children and adults with type 1 diabetes (T1D).
Methods: Patients with T1D treated with the MiniMed 640G pump with PLGS function at three referral hospitals were retrospectively evaluated. Hb at baseline and at 6, 12, 18, and 24 months was analyzed.

Background: The criteria for kidney suitability in uncontrolled donors after circulatory death (uDCD) procured after regional normothermic perfusion are based on macroscopic appearance and renal haemodynamic values with final renal resistance (FRR). However, these criteria have not been analysed to predict the future graft function. This study presents a model to predict the outcome in uDCD kidneys and define the predictive FRR value.

Objective: There is scarce information regarding the performance of a specific, structured education program addressed to patients with type 1 diabetes (T1D) using continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) including both routine use of the therapy and patient experience evaluation. We aimed to assess the routine use of CSII and patient's experience and satisfaction regarding a specific structured patient self-management education and care program.
Methods: A retrospective, observational, cross-sectional study collecting CSII routine use downloaded data.

Antipsychotics are an essential component in the treatment of schizophrenia. Long-acting injectable formulations (LAI) arose to improve adherence with the associated potential of reducing the risk of relapse. The objective of this article is to analyze the use of LAI antipsychotics in Spain, which is similar to other European countries but with a predominance of the use of second generation LAI, to discuss the possible causes of prescribing differences with respect to other countries (including organizational aspects, attitudes of psychiatrists, patients and family members, and clinical practice guidelines), and to discuss their use in acute psychiatric units, first episode, and in children and adolescents.

Objective: To compare the cost-effectiveness of sensor-augmented pump therapy (SAP) [continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) plus real-time continuous glucose monitoring (RT-CGM)] with low glucose suspend (MiniMed™ Veo™) and CSII alone in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) at high risk of hypoglycemia in Spain.
Methods: The IQVIA CORE Diabetes Model was used to estimate healthcare outcomes as life-years gained (LYGs) and quality-adjusted life years (QALYs), and to project lifetime costs. Information about efficacy, resource utilization, and unit costs (€2016) was taken from published sources and validated by an expert panel.

This document is an update to the clinical practice recommendations for the management of cardiovascular risk factors in diabetes mellitus. The consensus is made by members of the Cardiovascular Risk Group of the Spanish Diabetes Society. We have proposed and updated interventions on lifestyle, pharmacological treatment indicated to achieve therapeutic objectives according to the levels of HbA1c, degree of obesity, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, heart failure, platelet antiagregation, renal insufficiency, and diabetes in the elderly, as well as new biomarkers of interest in the evaluation of cardiovascular risk in individuals with diabetes mellitus.

Benzodiazepines (BZDs) are central nervous system (CNS) depressants which are widely used to treat insomnia and anxiety, despite having long-term adverse side effects. (Fortea González, Oriolo, Balcells Oliveró, Sánchez Del Valle & Castellvi, 2017). As with alcohol, continued use can lead to tolerance and dependence phenomena.

Nasal obstruction (NO) is defined as the subjective perception of discomfort or difficulty in the passage of air through the nostrils. It is a common reason for consultation in primary and specialized care and may affect up to 30%-40% of the population. It affects quality of life (especially sleep) and lowers work efficiency.

Objectives: Many insulin-treated patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) do not reach hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) < 7%, but have clinically relevant HbA1c reductions. Using an integrated database (IDB) of 53 insulin lispro clinical trials and a real-world evidence (RWE) database of T2D patients initiating insulin therapy, an expanded HbA1c measure was used to identify responders to insulin therapy.
Methods: Analysis included 4,908 patients (IDB) and 1,134 patients (RWE) with T2D treated with any insulin regimen with a baseline and ≥1 post-baseline HbA1c.

Objective: Hypoglycemia is one of the most common complications to achieve a good metabolic control, and has been listed by several scientific associations as a common indication to start treatment with continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII). Use of CSII is still residual in Spain as compared to neighbouring countries, and cost of acquisition cost is one of the main reasons. This study estimates the budget impact of treatment with CSII, as compared to multiple daily insulin injections, of patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus who experience recurrent severe hypoglycemia episodes from the National Healthcare System perspective.
