Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic inflammatory esophageal disorder. The lack of non-invasive biomarkers currently results in dependency on endoscopy with biopsies for its diagnosis and monitoring. We aimed to identify potential non-invasive biomarkers using microRNAs (miRNAs) in plasma-derived extracellular vesicles (pEVs).

Aim: The use of oral anticoagulants has increased due to the rising prevalence of auricular fibrillation, a condition that raises the risk of thromboembolic events. These drugs are effective in preventing such events, but their success depends on therapeutic adherence, which requires validated tools for assessment. The aim of this study is to evaluate the suitability of the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale-8 (MMAS-8) questionnaire in its adapted version for the Spanish population.

Background: Inflammatory markers play a pivotal role in schizophrenia, as they provide insight into the neuroinflammatory processes occurring in the context of the disorder. Elevated levels of these markers, particularly C-reactive protein (CRP), can indicate an underlying immune system dysregulation, potentially influencing symptom severity and progression. Recognizing these markers has led to investigate the use of probiotics as an adjuvant to improve the treatment of schizophrenia.

Background: Postpartum haemorrhage is a preventable cause of maternal mortality that commonly occurs during the third stage of labour. Skin-to-skin contact is an intervention that can support the physiological processes of labour by increasing oxytocin levels, which can accelerate placental expulsion and enhance uterine contractions, thereby contributing to the prevention of postpartum haemorrhage.
Objective: This systematic review aims to evaluate the impact of skin-to-skin contact on key maternal variables during the third stage of labour, including the duration of this stage, placental integrity, the need for manual placental extraction, the administration of therapeutic uterotonics, and the position of the uterine fundus.

Introduction: Direct vision internal urethrotomy (DVIU) is usually the first treatment offered to patients with bulbar urethral strictures (US). Advances in devices and surgical techniques have contributed to reducing associated complications. Despite the favorable success rate of DVIU, various factors predicting better outcomes have been studied, including patient characteristics, stricture features, and procedural aspects.

Cellular Communication Network Factor 2 (CCN2) is a matricellular protein implicated in cell communication and microenvironmental signaling. Overexpression of CCN2 has been documented in various cardiovascular pathologies, wherein it may exert either deleterious or protective effects depending on the pathological context, thereby suggesting that its role in the cardiovascular system is not yet fully elucidated. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of gene deletion on the progression of acute cardiac injury induced by doxorubicin (DOX), a widely utilized chemotherapeutic agent.

Introduction: The lung immune prognostic index (LIPI) is a biomarker that combines the lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) value and the derived neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (dNLR). Its prognostic ability has been reported in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with immunotherapy. In the context of extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC) with chemoimmunotherapy, its role remains to be determined.
