Introduction: Wilms' tumor (WT) is the most frequent renal tumor in childhood. Therapeutic management progression has increased survival rates, and as a result, long-term adverse effects.

Pseudoaneurysm as an unusual complication in bone lengthening.

One of the risks of distraction osteogenesis-based techniques is the development of vascular complications, such as pseudoaneurysms associated with the osteotomies performed or the fixation elements of the external fixator used in the procedure. Pseudoaneurysm are formed when the tunica adventitia of the artery is injured, resulting in a gradual and persistent blood extravasation into the surrounding tissues that is encapsulated and connected to the arterial lumen. This report describes a rare case of a late-presentation pseudoaneurysm in the anterior tibial artery resulting from a tibial lengthening procedure aimed at addressing a leg length discrepancy in a 57-year-old female with severe peripheral neuropathy resulting from long-standing poorly controlled diabetes mellitus.

[Approach to Childhood Obesity in Spain. A comparison among autonomies].

Objective: Childhood obesity represents a serious public health problem and given its multifactorial nature and its consequences; it is necessary to carry out an effective approach. The Spanish system of autonomies, with delegated powers, could accentuate inequality in its approach. The objective of the study was to know the existence or not of these inequalities.

Cut-off value for β-trace protein (β-TP) as a rapid diagnostic of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak detection.

Objective: To find an adequate cut-off point for beta trace protein (β-TP) in nasal secretion (NS) and validate this diagnostic test with a large sample of patients. Likewise, we evaluated β-TP test efficacy to confirm the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage closure after treatment.

Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis with 207 samples from 162 patients with suspected CSF leakage received in the Hospital Universitario Virgen de la Arrixaca between 2010 and 2016.

Physics-based tissue simulator to model multicellular systems: A study of liver regeneration and hepatocellular carcinoma recurrence.

We present a multiagent-based model that captures the interactions between different types of cells with their microenvironment, and enables the analysis of the emergent global behavior during tissue regeneration and tumor development. Using this model, we are able to reproduce the temporal dynamics of regular healthy cells and cancer cells, as well as the evolution of their three-dimensional spatial distributions. By tuning the system with the characteristics of the individual patients, our model reproduces a variety of spatial patterns of tissue regeneration and tumor growth, resembling those found in clinical imaging or biopsies.

[COVID-19 exposure setting, social and gender determinants in a mediterranean region.].

Objective: Knowledge of social and gender determinants, which influence the places where people are exposed to COVID-19, may be relevant in the development of preventive and control strategies. The aim of this paper was to determine the context in which COVID-19 cases were infected (household, work/labor, health, social-health, and social-leisure settings) according to country of origin, occupational social class and gender, which is essential in order to designing public health strategies.

Methods: A cross-sectional study of an epidemiological registry of 56,628 COVID-19 incident cases was made, whose exposure/contagion setting was studied according to the previous variables from June 15 to December 23, 2020, in the Region of Murcia (Spain).

Oral Co-Supplementation of Curcumin, Quercetin, and Vitamin D3 as an Adjuvant Therapy for Mild to Moderate Symptoms of COVID-19-Results From a Pilot Open-Label, Randomized Controlled Trial.

Curcumin, quercetin, and vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) are common natural ingredients of human nutrition and reportedly exhibit promising anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, broad-spectrum antiviral, and antioxidant activities. The present study aimed to investigate the possible therapeutic benefits of a single oral formulation containing supplements curcumin, quercetin, and cholecalciferol (combinedly referred to here as CQC) as an adjuvant therapy for early-stage of symptomatic coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in a pilot open-label, randomized controlled trial conducted at Mayo Hospital, King Edward Medical University, Lahore, Pakistan. Dolutegravir plus rilpivirine: benefits beyond viral suppression: DORIPEX retrospective study.

Switching dual therapy with dolutegravir (DTG) plus rilpivirine (RPV) was assessed in the SWORD-1 and SWORD-2 studies. Real-life data regarding the immunological impact of this approach on CD4+ and CD8+ T lymphocyte counts and the CD4/CD8 ratio are scarce. We evaluated this strategy on the basis of clinical practice data.

Long-term humoral immunity and its protective role in liver transplantation (LT) patients have not been elucidated. We performed a prospective multicenter study to assess the persistence of immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies in LT recipients 12 months after coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). A total of 65 LT recipients were matched with 65 nontransplanted patients by a propensity score including variables with recognized impact on COVID-19.

International Population Study in Spain, Cuba, and the United States of Attitudes Toward Organ Donation Among the Cuban Population.

Cuban immigrants constitute an important group in both the United States and Spain, with different behaviors toward organ donation having been described among the different Latin American nationalities. We analyzed the attitude toward organ donation among the Cuban populations in Cuba, Spain, and Florida. The study population was Cuban immigrants over 15 years of age residing in Cuba, Spain, and Florida, with samples randomly stratified by age and sex.

Cavity shaving for invasive breast cancer conservative surgery: Reduced specimen volume and margin positive rates.

Introduction: The cavity shaving (CS) technique was described in breast conserving surgery to reduce the rate of reoperation avoiding the need for intraoperative margin analysis. This study assesses differences in the rates of involvement of the surgical margin (requiring further surgery) and volume of surgical specimens, depending on the use or not of this technique.

Material And Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted in patients with breast carcinoma who underwent breast conserving surgery between 2013 and 2019.

[Beginnings, evolution and current situation of the Newborn Screening Programs in Spain.].

Newborn Screening Programs (NSP) in Spain were born in the city of Granada in 1968. Till the 1980s, they were developed around the so-called "National Plan for Preventing Subnormality", covering up to 30% of the Spanish newborns. From 1982, when the health system management was transferred to the different autonomous regions, the NSP began to expand, and the bases to transform them into an organized and multidisciplinary activity, integrated and coordinated from the National Health System were settled.

[When to think about pediatric congenital pseudoarthrosis of the clavicle? Presentation of 2 cases].

The congenital pseudoarthrosis of the clavicle is a rare and benign malformation, characterized by the absence of the middle third of the clavicle. It is usually unilateral and the majority on the right side. The etiology is unknown, postulating diverse etiopathogenic theories (vascular, embryological and genetic).

Background: transit times in the gastric cavity and the small bowel can be easily calculated using capsule endoscopy software. The factors that can influence these times and impact on diagnostic yield have not been completely assessed.

Methods: Retrospective study about WT patients treated in 1993-2017, according to SIOP protocols. Mortality, glomerular filtration rate (GFR), prevalence of hypertension and requirement of dialysis and renal transplant were evaluated.

Aim Of The Study: To present our results with transanal irrigation (TAI) for management of fecal incontinence and fecal constipation without response to other treatments.

Methods: Retrospective study of patients with fecal constipation and/or fecal incontinence treated with TAI between 2013 and 2017. A Rintala questionnaire(1) was carried out comparing pre and post-treatment results.

Role of age and comorbidities in mortality of patients with infective endocarditis.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyse the characteristics of patients with IE in three groups of age and to assess the ability of age and the Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) to predict mortality.

Methods: Prospective cohort study of all patients with IE included in the GAMES Spanish database between 2008 and 2015.Patients were stratified into three age groups:<65 years,65 to 80 years,and ≥ 80 years.
