One of the risks of distraction osteogenesis-based techniques is the development of vascular complications, such as pseudoaneurysms associated with the osteotomies performed or the fixation elements of the external fixator used in the procedure. Pseudoaneurysm are formed when the tunica adventitia of the artery is injured, resulting in a gradual and persistent blood extravasation into the surrounding tissues that is encapsulated and connected to the arterial lumen. This report describes a rare case of a late-presentation pseudoaneurysm in the anterior tibial artery resulting from a tibial lengthening procedure aimed at addressing a leg length discrepancy in a 57-year-old female with severe peripheral neuropathy resulting from long-standing poorly controlled diabetes mellitus.

Objective: To find an adequate cut-off point for beta trace protein (β-TP) in nasal secretion (NS) and validate this diagnostic test with a large sample of patients. Likewise, we evaluated β-TP test efficacy to confirm the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage closure after treatment.
Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis with 207 samples from 162 patients with suspected CSF leakage received in the Hospital Universitario Virgen de la Arrixaca between 2010 and 2016.

We present a multiagent-based model that captures the interactions between different types of cells with their microenvironment, and enables the analysis of the emergent global behavior during tissue regeneration and tumor development. Using this model, we are able to reproduce the temporal dynamics of regular healthy cells and cancer cells, as well as the evolution of their three-dimensional spatial distributions. By tuning the system with the characteristics of the individual patients, our model reproduces a variety of spatial patterns of tissue regeneration and tumor growth, resembling those found in clinical imaging or biopsies.

Objective: Knowledge of social and gender determinants, which influence the places where people are exposed to COVID-19, may be relevant in the development of preventive and control strategies. The aim of this paper was to determine the context in which COVID-19 cases were infected (household, work/labor, health, social-health, and social-leisure settings) according to country of origin, occupational social class and gender, which is essential in order to designing public health strategies.
Methods: A cross-sectional study of an epidemiological registry of 56,628 COVID-19 incident cases was made, whose exposure/contagion setting was studied according to the previous variables from June 15 to December 23, 2020, in the Region of Murcia (Spain).

Curcumin, quercetin, and vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) are common natural ingredients of human nutrition and reportedly exhibit promising anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, broad-spectrum antiviral, and antioxidant activities. The present study aimed to investigate the possible therapeutic benefits of a single oral formulation containing supplements curcumin, quercetin, and cholecalciferol (combinedly referred to here as CQC) as an adjuvant therapy for early-stage of symptomatic coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in a pilot open-label, randomized controlled trial conducted at Mayo Hospital, King Edward Medical University, Lahore, Pakistan. Reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) confirmed, mild to moderate symptomatic COVID-19 outpatients were randomized to receive either the standard of care (SOC) ( = 25) (control arm) or a daily oral co-supplementation of 168 mg curcumin, 260 mg quercetin, and 9 µg (360 IU) of cholecalciferol, as two oral soft capsules b.

Switching dual therapy with dolutegravir (DTG) plus rilpivirine (RPV) was assessed in the SWORD-1 and SWORD-2 studies. Real-life data regarding the immunological impact of this approach on CD4+ and CD8+ T lymphocyte counts and the CD4/CD8 ratio are scarce. We evaluated this strategy on the basis of clinical practice data.

Long-term humoral immunity and its protective role in liver transplantation (LT) patients have not been elucidated. We performed a prospective multicenter study to assess the persistence of immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies in LT recipients 12 months after coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). A total of 65 LT recipients were matched with 65 nontransplanted patients by a propensity score including variables with recognized impact on COVID-19.

Introduction: The cavity shaving (CS) technique was described in breast conserving surgery to reduce the rate of reoperation avoiding the need for intraoperative margin analysis. This study assesses differences in the rates of involvement of the surgical margin (requiring further surgery) and volume of surgical specimens, depending on the use or not of this technique.
Material And Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted in patients with breast carcinoma who underwent breast conserving surgery between 2013 and 2019.

Till the 1980s, they were developed around the so-called "National Plan for Preventing Subnormality", covering up to 30% of the Spanish newborns. From 1982, when the health system management was transferred to the different autonomous regions, the NSP began to expand, and the bases to transform them into an organized and multidisciplinary activity, integrated and coordinated from the National Health System were settled.

We aim to describe the time-to-delivery interval and maternal and perinatal outcomes when such values are demonstrated while assessing suspected or confirmed placental dysfunction based on clinical or sonographic criteria. Methods and Results A multicenter retrospective cohort study was performed on 237 singleton gestations between 20+0 and 37+0 weeks included at the time of first demonstrating a sFlt-1/PlGF ratio >655.

Background: transit times in the gastric cavity and the small bowel can be easily calculated using capsule endoscopy software. The factors that can influence these times and impact on diagnostic yield have not been completely assessed.
Aims: to analyze the influence of demographic and clinical features on transit times and the impact on diagnostic yield.
Objetive: To evaluate long-term renal function and morbimortality in non-syndromic Wilms tumor (WT) survivors.
Methods: Retrospective study about WT patients treated in 1993-2017, according to SIOP protocols. Mortality, glomerular filtration rate (GFR), prevalence of hypertension and requirement of dialysis and renal transplant were evaluated.
Aim Of The Study: To present our results with transanal irrigation (TAI) for management of fecal incontinence and fecal constipation without response to other treatments.
Methods: Retrospective study of patients with fecal constipation and/or fecal incontinence treated with TAI between 2013 and 2017. A Rintala questionnaire(1) was carried out comparing pre and post-treatment results.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyse the characteristics of patients with IE in three groups of age and to assess the ability of age and the Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) to predict mortality.
Methods: Prospective cohort study of all patients with IE included in the GAMES Spanish database between 2008 and 2015.Patients were stratified into three age groups:<65 years,65 to 80 years, and ≥ 80 years.
