Real-world evidence of adjuvant immunotherapy in resected stage III and IV melanoma patients: CADIM trial final results. Experience from 2 tertiary referral centers.

Introduction: Clinical trials have validated the use of nivolumab and pembrolizumab as adjuvant therapies regarding relapse-free survival (RFS) in patients with resected stage III and IV melanoma. Evidence in real-world patients is currently limited.

Material And Method: The CADIM trial (Characterization of adjuvant immunotherapy in melanoma patients) recruited a total of 81 patients with resected stage III and IV melanoma on nivolumab or pembrolizumab as adjuvant therapy from February 2018 through December 2022.

Posterolateral Elbow Dislocation: An All-Arthroscopic Reconstruction of the Lateral Ulnar Collateral Ligament.

The elbow is one of the most commonly dislocated joints. Although simple dislocations of the elbow usually resolve with conservative management, certain patients can experience residual chronic instability. Posterolateral rotational instability accounts for approximately 80% of elbow chronic instability cases.

Reusing zebrafish facility equipment: Planning, investment and what we have learned.

The purpose of this study is to provide a detailed account of our successful experience in establishing a functional zebrafish holding facility by repurposing materials from a previous installation. On the eve of the start-up of our new animal facility we were notified that a research centre was putting part of its zebrafish holding facility (29 racks, accessories, water treatment unit) up for sale. Although the originally planned room was designed for six double racks, but encouraged by the increasing use of the zebrafish model, we decided to seize the opportunity, purchase the equipment and utilize it to create a larger configuration and an independent quarantine to protect the main facility.

Perioperative transfusion management in craniotomies: A national survey, a starting point for the evaluation of improvements in health care.

Objective: To assess the perioperative management of haemostasis and transfusion practices in adult patients undergoing craniotomies.

Method: Online questionnaire addressed to Spanish anaesthesiologists and promoted by the Neurosciences and Haemostasis, Transfusion Medicine and Fluid Therapy Sections of SEDAR. The questionnaire was sent by email and social media, and was active between June and October 2022.

Background: Heart failure (HF) often occurs in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF), with a major impact on prognosis. Few data are available on the effect of integrated treatment strategies to improve prognosis in patients with AF. We aimed to evaluate the association between HF (according to left ventricular ejection fraction [LVEF]), HF optimal medical therapy and adherence to the Atrial Fibrillation Better Care pathway, and major outcomes in patients with AF.

Adult height in girls with idiopathic central precocious puberty treated with triptorelin.

Objective: Idiopathic central precocious puberty (CPP) precipitates epiphyseal fusion of growth plates in long bones, leading to reduced adult stature. Gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogues (GnRHa) are the treatment of choice for idiopathic CPP, but their benefit on height gain is unclear. We aimed to elucidate the effects of GnRHa treatment on adult height in girls with idiopathic CPP.

Safety and Efficacy of BioMime Sirolimus-Eluting Stent System in All-Comers Real-World Population With Coronary Artery Stenosis: MILES Global Registry.

Background: This study evaluated the safety and efficacy of BioMime sirolimus-eluting stent (SES) system, with an ultra-low strut thickness (65 µm), in real-world all-comers population with coronary artery stenosis (CAD).

Methods: This was a post-marketing, multicenter, single-arm, observational clinical registry among patients undergoing intervention for CAD. Patients were clinically followed up at 1, 9, 12, and 24 months after the index percutaneous coronary intervention.

Heavy metals screening model in primary care: Experience in the Sierra Minera de Cartagena (Spain).

Introduction: Soils contaminated by heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, and arsenic represent a significant health risk. The Sierra Minera of Cartagena (Spain) is an area historically contaminated by mining activities. This study evaluates the exposure to heavy metals and proposes a clinical screening model for its management in primary care.

Improvements in quality of life of patients with multiple sclerosis receiving alemtuzumab in clinical practice: the LEMVIDA study.

Background: Alemtuzumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody approved for the treatment of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). Its efficacy and safety have been widely demonstrated in clinical trials, but experience from real-world cohorts is also needed to support its clinical use. Quality of life (QoL) outcomes are an important complement to the clinical benefits of treatment, offering a patient-centered perspective on how the drug contributes to general well-being.

Background And Aims: Parenteral nutrition (PN) composition could play a role in the management of systemic inflammatory response and intestinal barrier disruption. We aimed to evaluate changes in biomarkers of inflammation, oxidative status and intestinal permeability in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) who received different PN lipid formulas.

Methods: This was a prospective study, including 94 patients with T2DM who received omega (n)-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA)-enriched PN, a mixture of medium and long chain triglycerides (MCT/LCT) PN, or an olive oil-based PN.

Methods: Three DOOR systems with five, six and seven categories, respectively were developed. Safety and efficacy were prioritised in all rankings, but step down to oral therapy and exposure to antibiotics with lower ecological impact were also considered in DOOR-6 and DOOR-7.

Introduction: Patients with achondroplasia present, in addition to disproportionate short stature, multiple manifestations that require a comprehensive approach. The present consensus of experts in Spain responds to the need to establish clear guidelines for the management of achondroplasia with the introduction of a new treatment, vosoritide.

An Educational Digital Tool to Improve the Implementation of Switching to a Biosimilar (Rapid Switch Trainer): Tool Development and Validation Study.

Background: Switching to biosimilars is an effective and safe practice in treating inflammatory diseases; however, a nocebo effect may arise as a result of the way in which the switch is communicated to a given patient.

Objective: We aimed to design a gaming-based digital educational tool (including a discussion algorithm) to support the training of health care professionals in efficiently communicating the switch to biosimilars, minimizing the generation of a nocebo effect and thus serving as an implementation strategy for the recommended switch.

Methods: The tool was developed based on interviews and focus group discussions with key stakeholders, both patients and health care professionals.

Biomarkers of response to ocrelizumab in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis.

Objective: To ascertain the changes of serum neurofilament light chain (sNfL) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (sGFAP) values in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) patients treated with ocrelizumab and their association with treatment response.

Methods: Multicenter prospective study including 115 RRMS patients initiating ocrelizumab treatment between February 2020 and March 2022 followed during a year. Serum samples were collected at baseline and every 3 months to measure sNfL and sGFAP levels using single-molecule array (SIMOA) technology.
