Survival benefit of ixazomib, lenalidomide and dexamethasone (IRD) over lenalidomide and dexamethasone (Rd) in relapsed and refractory multiple myeloma patients in routine clinical practice.

Background: We have performed a head to head comparison of all-oral triplet combination of ixazomib, lenalidomide and dexamethasone (IRD) versus lenalidomide and dexamethasone (RD) in patients with relapsed and refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM) in the routine clinical practice.

Methods: A total of 344 patients treated with IRD (N = 127) or RD (N = 217) were selected for analysis from the Czech Registry of Monoclonal Gammopathies (RMG). Descriptive statistics were used to assess patient's characteristics associated with the respective therapy.

Classification and standardized reporting of percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL): International Alliance of Urolithiasis (IAU) Consensus Statements.

Background: The aim of this study was to reach a consensus in the classification and standardized reporting for the different types of PCNLs.

Methods: The RAND/UCLA appropriateness methodology was used to reach a consensus. Thirty-two statements were formulated reviewing the literature on guidelines and consensus on PCNLs, and included procedure specific details, outcome measurements and a classification for PCNLs.

The impact of cesarean and vaginal delivery on cognitive development was analyzed in 5 year old children. : Two cohorts of 5 year old children born in the years 2013 and 2014 in Karvina (Northern Moravia) and Ceske Budejovice (Southern Bohemia) were studied for their cognitive development related to vaginal ( = 117) and cesarean types of delivery ( = 51). The Bender Visual Motor Gestalt Test (BG test) and the Raven Colored Progressive Matrices (RCPM test) were used as psychological tests.

Thrombectomy vs medical management in low NIHSS acute anterior circulation stroke.

Objective: To undertake an effectiveness and safety analysis of EVT in patients with LVO and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score ≤6 using datasets of multicenter and multinational nature.

Methods: We pooled patients with anterior circulation occlusion from 3 prospective international cohorts. Patients were eligible if presentation occurred within 12 hours from last known well and baseline NIHSS ≤6.

Effect of individual allergen sensitization on omalizumab treatment outcomes in patients with severe allergic asthma determined using data from the Czech Anti-IgE Registry.

Background: Omalizumab is an efficient drug for patients with uncontrolled severe allergic asthma (SAA). However, little is known about the differences in omalizumab treatment outcomes among patients with different types of atopic sensitization. Here, we assessed the effect of sensitization to individual allergens or their combinations on the outcomes of anti-IgE therapy in patients with SAA.

Effect of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons Exposure on Cognitive Development in 5 Years Old Children.

To analyze the impact of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in ambient air at the time of delivery and five years of age on cognitive development in five year old children. Two cohorts of children born in the years 2013 and 2014 from Karvina (Northern Moravia, = 70) and Ceske Budejovice (Southern Bohemia, = 99) were studied at the age of five years for their cognitive development related to the exposure to PAHs, determined in the ambient air as the concentration of benzo[a]pyrene (B[a]P) and OH-PAH (hydroxy-PAH) metabolites in urine of the newborns at the time of delivery. Sentinel lymph node mapping and intraoperative assessment in a prospective, international, multicentre, observational trial of patients with cervical cancer: The SENTIX trial.

Background: SENTIX (ENGOT-CX2/CEEGOG-CX1) is an international, multicentre, prospective observational trial evaluating sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy without pelvic lymph node dissection in patients with early-stage cervical cancer. We report the final preplanned analysis of the secondary end-points: SLN mapping and outcomes of intraoperative SLN pathology.

Methods: Forty-seven sites (18 countries) with experience of SLN biopsy participated in SENTIX.

Rituximab maintenance significantly reduces early follicular lymphoma progressions in patients treated with frontline R-CHOP.

The association of a reduced susceptibility to moxifloxacin in causative Clostridium (Clostridioides) difficile strain with the clinical outcome of patients.

Methods: Between October and December 2017, 16 hospitals collected epidemiological data according to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) surveillance protocol for CDI.

The interval between progression and therapy initiation is the key prognostic parameter in relapsing diffuse large B cell lymphoma: analysis from the Czech Lymphoma Study Group database (NIHIL).

Relapsing diffuse large B cell lymphomas (rDLBCL) represent a heterogeneous disease. This heterogeneity should be recognized and reflected, because it can deform the interpretation of clinical trial results. DLBCL patients with the first relapse and without CNS involvement were identified in the Czech Lymphoma Study Group (CLSG) database.

Central Pathology Review in SENTIX, A Prospective Observational International Study on Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy in Patients with Early-Stage Cervical Cancer (ENGOT-CX2).

The quality of pathological assessment is crucial for the safety of patients with cervical cancer if pelvic lymph node dissection is to be replaced by sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy. Central pathology review of SLN pathological ultrastaging was conducted in the prospective SENTIX/European Network of Gynaecological Oncological Trial (ENGOT)-CX2 study. All specimens from at least two patients per site were submitted for the central review.

Blood Flow Volume Measurement in Cervical and Intracranial Arteries using Quantitative Magnetic Resonance Angiography and Duplex Sonography (Bocaccia) - A Prospective Observational Study.

Purpose:  Cerebral blood flow volume is an important factor for the accurate diagnosis of neurovascular diseases and treatment indication. This study aims to assess correlations of blood flow volume measurements in cervical and intracranial arteries between duplex sonography and quantitative magnetic resonance angiography (qMRA).

Materials And Methods:  Consecutive patients with suspicion of cerebral vascular pathology underwent qMRA and duplex sonography of cervical and intracranial arteries with measurement of blood flow volume in bilateral common (CCA), internal (ICA) and external carotid arteries, vertebral and basilar arteries, middle, anterior, posterior cerebral and posterior communicating arteries using 2 different ultrasound machines.

Vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) is based on the use of formalin-inactivated, culture-derived whole-virus vaccines. Immune response following vaccination is primarily directed to the viral envelope (E) protein, the major viral surface antigen. In Europe, two TBE vaccines are available in adult and pediatric formulations, namely FSME-IMMUN (Pfizer) and Encepur (GlaxoSmithKline).

Five years of improving diabetes control in Czech children after the establishment of the population-based childhood diabetes register ČENDA.

Objectives: The Czech National Childhood Diabetes Register (ČENDA) is a web-based nationwide database that collects treatment and outcome data in children and adolescents with diabetes. Here, we present data from the first 5 years of ČENDA (2013-2017).

Methods: Data include characteristics of disease onset and annual summaries of key clinical care parameters from every patient treated by participating pediatric diabetes outpatient clinics.

Methods: The analysis focused on patients who started their first DMD, either with first-line or second-line medication and was based on reimbursement criteria set by Czech regulators.

Association of Baseline Hyperglycemia With Outcomes of Patients With and Without Diabetes With Acute Ischemic Stroke Treated With Intravenous Thrombolysis: A Propensity Score-Matched Analysis From the SITS-ISTR Registry.

Available data from observational studies on the association of admission hyperglycemia (aHG) with outcomes of patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) treated with intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) are contradictory, especially when stratified by diabetes mellitus (DM) history. We assessed the association of aHG (≥144 mg/dL) with outcomes stratified by DM history using propensity score-matched (PSM) data from the SITS-ISTR. The primary safety outcome was symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (SICH); 3-month functional independence (FI) (modified Rankin Scale [mRS] scores 0-2) represented the primary efficacy outcome.

Urgent Middle Cerebral Artery Embolectomy of Calcified Embolus After Intravenous Thrombolysis: 2-Dimensional Operative Video.

This video shows an urgent microsurgical embolectomy of the inferior division of the left middle cerebral artery in a patient treated by intravenous thrombolysis (IVT).
