Background/objectives: Anastomotic leakage (AL) is one of the most concerning complications following gastrectomy. The aim of this study was to assess and compare the predictive accuracy of C-reactive protein (CRP), procalcitonin (PCT), the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), the platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), fibrinogen, and the mean platelet volume (MPV) in the early diagnosis of post-gastrectomy AL.
Methods: A prospective bicentric observational study was conducted including all patients undergoing elective gastrectomy between August 2018 and December 2022.

: Sodium glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors have emerged as integral therapeutic tools in the management of patients with cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) syndrome. In addition to their well-documented effects on lowering glucose levels and cardiovascular- and reno-protective actions, SGLT-2 inhibitors, through a reduction in body weight (BW), generate changes in the body composition and volume status that have not been clearly studied. : This retrospective, observational longitudinal cohort, single-center study analyzed and compared body composition and fluid status measured by bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) from weeks 0 to 12 after the initiation of the cardiac rehabilitation (CR) program for coronary artery disease and heart failure in 59 patients who started treatment with SGLT-2 inhibitors (SGLT-2iG) and 112 patients without SGLT-2 inhibitors (non-SGLT-2iG).

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) light sources must match their emission spectrum with the absorption spectrum of the photosensitizer, provide precise treatment definition, deliver adequate irradiance, avoid thermal damage, and minimize treatment duration. Additionally, they should be adaptable to different photosensitizers, easy to manipulate, and cost-effective. Current LED sources are difficult to customize, rigid, and primarily designed for broad-area treatments.

: hypochloremia is an emerging risk factor for mortality in patients with chronic kidney disease. The pathophysiological mechanisms of this finding are not very clear. Some studies suggest the influence of inflammation as a synergistic factor, so we set out to analyse the association of a novel C-reactive protein-to-serum chloride ratio (CRP/Cl) with the prognosis of maintenance haemodialysis patients and to assess its relationship with fluid status and body composition measured by bioimpedance.

Introduction: Genetic variations impact drug response, driving the need for personalised medicine through pre-emptive pharmacogenetic testing. However, the adoption of pre-emptive pharmacogenetic testing for commonly prescribed drugs, such as statins, outside of tertiary hospitals is limited due to a lack of pharmacoeconomic evidence to support widespread implementation by healthcare policy-makers. The Spanish Consortium for the Implementation of Pharmacogenetics (iPHARMGx Consortium) addresses this by developing a clinical trial master protocol that will govern multiple nested adaptive clinical trials that compare genotype-guided treatments to standard care in specific drug-gene-population triads, asses their cost-efficacy and identify novel biomarkers through advanced sequencing techniques.

: Primary dysmenorrhea is a leading cause of chronic cyclic pelvic pain, contributing to a reduced quality of life and sleep disturbances in women. The objective of this study was to assess the effectiveness of transcutaneous tibial nerve stimulation (TTNS) in improving the quality of life, sleep, and overall health perceptions of participants compared to a control group of women with dysmenorrhea over short-term, medium-term, and long-term periods. : A single-blind, controlled clinical trial was conducted, with participants randomly assigned to an experimental group (receiving TTNS) or a control group (receiving sham TTNS).

Background: Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ACVD) is worsened by chronic inflammatory diseases. Interleukin receptor antagonists (IL-RAs) and tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF) inhibitors have been studied to see if they can prevent cardiovascular events.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to assess the clinical benefits and harms of IL-RAs and TNF inhibitors in the primary and secondary prevention of ACVD.

: Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is a renal replacement therapy modality in which the dialysis dose can be individually adapted according to the patients' residual kidney function (RKF). RKF is a crucial factor for technique and patient survival. Pharmacological strategies aimed at slowing the loss of RKF in patients on PD are limited.

Primary malignancies of the central nervous system account for 2% of all cancers in adults and almost 15% in children under 15 years of age. The prognosis of brain anaplastic cancers and glioblastomas remains extremely poor, with devastating survival expectative, and new molecular markers and therapeutic targets are essential. Epigenetic changes constitute an extensive field for the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.

Plasma cells known as "Mott cells" present non-secretable accumulations of immunoglobulins called "Russell bodies". Its presence is related to hematological neoplasms, but it can appear in chronic inflammatory processes. The most common occurrence within the digestive tract is the gastric antrum associated with H.
