Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects about 5% of the world's population and generates high health and social costs. Proper management of the disease requires a correct diagnosis, based on objective measures of functional impairment, as well as symptom control and assessment of the future risk of exacerbations. It has been estimated that 18% of asthma patients in Western Europe have severe asthma and approximately 50% of them have poor control.

Introduction: Teriflunomide is a once-daily oral immunomodulator approved for relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS) or relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS; depending on the local label), based on extensive evidence from clinical trials and a real-world setting on efficacy, tolerability and patient-reported benefits. The TERICARE study assessed the impact of teriflunomide treatment over 2 years on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and some of the most common and disabling symptoms of MS, such as fatigue and depression.
Methods: This prospective observational study in Spain included RRMS patients treated with teriflunomide for ≤ 4 weeks.

Objective: Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is considered the initial step in the invasion-metastasis cascade. The aim of this systematic review was to study the signature of genes involved in the EMT process in oral cancer (OC) confirmed by protein expression and its possible relationship with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) prognostic variables.
Materials And Methods: A search of the scientific literature was carried out with no start date restriction until 17 September 2020 in the electronic databases Pubmed/MEDLINE, Web of Science, Cochrane Library and Scopus, following specific eligibility criteria.

Objectives: To describe neonatal and maternal characteristics of the largest prospective cohort of newborns from mothers with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the data of which were prospectively collected from the nationwide registry of the Spanish Society of Neonatology.
Methods: Between March 8, 2020, and May 26, 2020, the data of 503 neonates born to 497 mothers diagnosed with COVID-19 during pregnancy or at the time of delivery were collected by 79 hospitals throughout Spain.
Results: Maternal symptoms were similar to that of the general population, with 5% of severe forms.
Background: Anxiety during pregnancy is one of the most common mental health problems and a significant risk factor for postpartum depression. The Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) is one of the most widely used self-report measures of anxiety symptoms available in multiple languages. This study evaluates the psychometric properties and underlying factor structures of the Spanish GAD-7 among pregnant women in Spain.

Iron is an essential element for cell growth and division. Recent experiments have linked a deregulation of iron's metabolism with breast cancer progression, aggressiveness and recurrence. In fact, it is conceived that chronic failure in the redox balance due to the presence of a high intracellular concentration of this metal has the potential to modulate specific signaling networks associated with cancer malignancy.

Chromosomal translocations are rare in the myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML). With the exception of t(3q), translocations are not explicitly considered in the cytogenetic classification of the IPSS-R and their impact on disease progression and patient survival is unknown. The present study was aimed at determining the prognostic impact of translocations in the context of the cytogenetic classification of the IPSS-R.

Background: The aim of this study was to analyze patient satisfaction and adherence in a sample of renal transplant patients living with a working allograft.
Methods: An epidemiological cross-sectional multicenter study was carried out with renal recipients who had received a transplant 6-24 months before and were undergoing immunosuppressant therapy (IT). Sociodemographic and clinical variables registered were dosage, allograft functioning, number of medications, health-related quality of life (HRQoL by SF-6D), patients' satisfaction (SAT-Q) and adherence to medication (abnormal levels of immunosuppressant in blood tests [ALIBT] and clinical impression).

Purpose: We attempted to analyze the parameters of the urine flow chart in children.
Material And Methods: We evaluated 1,361 uroflowmetry tests of healthy boys and girls, analyzed voided volume in relation to age and body surface area, and made a descriptive study of flow chart parameters. Analysis of variance was used for comparative study of these parameters in sex, age and body surface area groups.

We analyzed allelic loss at the p53 gene (17p13) and at chromosome region 9p21 in 35 primary head and neck squamous cell carcinomas. Loss of heterozygosity (LOH) at p53 and 9p21 was found in 50 and 75% of informative cases, respectively. LOH at the p53 gene did not increase significantly with tumor stage, but was more frequent in moderately and poorly differentiated tumors than in well-differentiated tumors.

Background: Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the most common autosomic-recessive inherited disorder. More than 300 different mutations in the CF gene (CFTR) have been described, being delta F508 and G542X the most common in the Spanish population. The frequencies of these mutations vary between the different European populations.

Tongue necrosis is a rare complication in giant cell arteritis, an entity in which both temporal arteritis and rheumatic polymyalgia may be included as two different manifestations of the same pathologic process. The case of a 79-year-old patient who had tongue necrosis 3 hours after ingestion of 2 mg of ergotamine tartrate is presented. This complication was the basis for the diagnosis of temporal arteritis.

We have determined the blood lead levels of 1,242 children, from newborn to 14 years old, and 79 young mothers in a period of 10 months in Asturias (Spain). All of them were selected at random among those who consulted one of the three main hospitals in Asturias, but none were diagnosed as lead poisoning. We have found a mean blood lead level of 22.
