[Use of plasmakinetics vessel sealing vs suture material in abdominal total hysterectomy].

Objective: To compare the safety and efficacy of the use of bipolar plasmakinetic vessel sealing versus standard technique when performing total abdominal hysterectomy for benign disease.

Material And Methods: Controlled randomized trial involving 94 women who underwent total abdominal hysterectomy. Fourty seven procedures were performed using bipolar plasmakinetics vessel sealing and the remaining 47 with the standard suture technique.

[Round ligament cyst, a rare condition simulating inguinal hernia. Case report].

Cysts of the inguinal cord are disorders that simulate inguinal hernias and manifest as inguinal masses and, in some cases, are accompanied by pain that can simulate a complicated inguinal hernia. We report the third case of a round ligament cyst in a 21-year-old female with a mass in the right inguinal area with intermittent pain. The patient was subjected to surgical exploration of the right inguinal area where a round ligament cyst was found.

Objective: We studied during a 12-months follow-up the effect of the eradication of Helicobacter pylori (Hp) on the recurrence of duodenal ulcer (DU).

Background: The eradication of Hp from the gastric mucosa has been the objective of numerous therapeutic trials for preventing DU recurrence; however, an optimal treatment has not yet been established.

The purpose of the present study was to determine if exposure of healthy children to different concentrations of atmospheric pollution alters morphologically the nasal respiratory epithelium.

Material And Methods: In this randomised, prospective, open clinical trial we included 71 healthy children matched for age and sex and divided them into 3 groups: Group I, 31 children from Mexico City.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of maintenance treatment with ranitidine to prevent recurrence of duodenal ulcer disease.

Background: Duodenal ulcer disease after complete healing by acid-suppression therapy, but without maintenance, recurs in about 50 to 90 percent of patients within 12 months.

Material And Methods: Fifty patients with healed duodenal ulcer confirmed by endoscopy were double blind randomized for maintenance treatment with ranitidine, 150 mg, or placebo at bed time for 12 months.

[A comparative study of insulin and glyburide versus glyburide or insulin in the chronic control of patients with type-2 diabetes].

In order to know the usefulness of a combined treatment with gliburide and NPH insulin 25 patients with well controlled type II diabetes mellitus were studied. The patients were randomly divided in to three groups: Group I just received gliburide, Group II only insulin and Group III gliburide and insulin.
