Background: In patients with severe asthma, treatment with anti-interleukin-5 (IL-5) biologics can lead to a reduction in fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) in some patients. The clinical implications of varying FeNO responses to anti-IL-5 biologics remain unclear. This study aims to categorise patients based on their FeNO response to anti-IL-5 biologics and evaluate the association of these categories with clinical outcomes.

Background: Good outcomes in stroke care require swift diagnostics, for which magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as first-line brain imaging is superior to computed tomography scans. Reduced length of stay (LOS) in hospital and emergency departments (ED) may optimize resource use. Fast-track stroke MRI was implemented as the primary imaging technique for suspected stroke, in the ED at Copenhagen University Hospital-Herlev and Gentofte in 2020.

Background: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) cerebral blood volume (CBV) measurements improve the diagnosis of recurrent gliomas. The study investigated the prognostic value of dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) CBV imaging in treated IDH wildtype glioblastoma when added to MRI or amino acid positron emission tomography (PET).
Methods: Hybrid [F]FET PET/MRI with 2CXM (2-compartment exchange model) DCE from 86 adult patients with suspected recurrent or residual glioblastoma were retrospectively analyzed.

Objectives: To test whether haemochromatosis C282Y homozygotes have increased risk of diabetes, liver disease, and heart disease even when they have normal plasma iron, transferrin saturation, or ferritin concentrations and to test whether C282Y homozygotes with diabetes, liver disease, or heart disease have increased mortality compared with non-carriers with these diseases.
Design: Prospective cohort study.
Setting: Three Danish general population cohorts: the Copenhagen City Heart Study, the Copenhagen General Population Study, and the Danish General Suburban Population Study.

Objectives: Previous studies have indicated that maternal occupational psychosocial stressors may affect the risk of asthma in the offspring, but their results are inconsistent. Maternal occupational ergonomic strain is associated with predictors of fetal lung development, including preterm birth and low birthweight; however, it is not known, whether ergonomic strain during pregnancy is a risk factor for asthma in offspring. The aim was to investigate maternal psychosocial stressors and ergonomic strain during pregnancy relative to the risk of offspring asthma.

While genetic predisposition and immune dysregulation are recognized as key contributors to the development of hidradenitis suppurativa, accumulating research points to the influence of extrinsic factors in the pathogenesis of this condition. This review explores the roles of mechanical stress, altered skin and gut microbiome, tobacco smoking, diet, and paradoxical drug reactions as drivers of hidradenitis suppurativa onset and progression. A holistic management approach addressing these factors may be encouraged to improve disease outcomes.

Aims: A number of studies have suggested that pancreatic α cells produce intact GLP-1, thereby constituting a gut-independent paracrine incretin system. However, the debate on whether human α cells contain intact GLP-1 and whether this relates to the presence of diabetes is still ongoing. This study aimed to determine the presence of proglucagon-derived peptides, including GLP-1 isoforms, in pancreas biopsies obtained during partial pancreatectomy from metabolically profiled human donors, stratified according to pre-surgery glucose tolerance.

Dopaminergic nigrostriatal denervation in Parkinson's disease (PD) disrupts the functional balance between striatal projecting neurons, leading to aberrant activity in the cortico-basal ganglia circuit and characteristic motor symptoms. While genetic and toxin-based animal models are commonly used to mimic PD pathology and behaviour, they have limitations when combined with circuit manipulation tools. This highlights the need for complementary approaches, particularly when combined with viral-based circuit targeting of specific neuronal subpopulations involved in PD circuit dysfunction.

Background: Dyslipidemia with elevated concentrations of triacylglycerol-rich lipoproteins (TRLs), small-dense LDL, and reduced HDL is linked to hepatic steatosis and promotes atherogenesis in type 2 diabetes (T2D).
Objectives: We aimed to analyze whether moderate carbohydrate restriction reduces liver fat in T2D independent of changes in body weight and whether this is accompanied by parallel improvements in plasma lipoprotein subclasses.
Methods: We determined the density profile of circulating lipoproteins in patients with T2D from 2 previous randomized controlled trials.
Purpose: To translate and cross-cultural adapt the Anterior Cruciate Ligament-Return To Sport After Injury (ACL-RSI) questionnaire into Danish (ACL-RSI-DK) and evaluate the psychometric properties with the purpose to identify the psychological readiness on returning to sport (RTS).
Methods: The ACL-RSI-DK followed a six-step translation and cultural-adaptation process. Statistical analysis included correlation for construct validity of the ACL-R-DK with the Lysholm, KOOS and K-SES.

Intratelencephalic neurons are a crucial class of cortical principal neurons that heavily innervate the striatum and cortical areas bilaterally. Their extensive cortico-cortical and cortico-striatal connectivity enables sensorimotor integration within the telencephalon, but their role in motor control remains poorly understood. Here, we used a chemogenetic approach to explore the role of intratelencephalic neurons in spontaneous locomotor activity.

Introduction: Both liraglutide and colesevelam improve bile acid diarrhea symptoms. Colesevelam binds excess amounts of diarrhea-causing bile acids in the colon, whereas the mode of action for liraglutide remains elusive. In this article, we examined the impact of colesevelam and liraglutide treatment on the concentrations of bile acids in serum and feces and the fecal microbiota composition to better understand the 2 drugs' modes of action.

Background: Elexacaftor/tezacaftor/ivacaftor (ETI) has been effective in improving several outcomes in people living with cystic fibrosis (pwCF). Although clinical guidance regarding maintenance therapies has not changed, staff reports indicate that individuals reduce some therapies. This study aimed to evaluate ETI's effect on utilization of routine therapies among pwCF in Denmark.

Parkinson's disease (PD) can be effectively treated with levodopa and dopamine agonists but leads to levodopa-induced dyskinesia (LID) in most patients in the long run. Various functional brain mapping techniques are used to explore alterations in motor networks associated with LID. This pre-registered review (PROSPERO: CRD42022320830) summarizes the motor network abnormalities reported in functional brain mapping studies of patients with LID.

To investigate the effect of moderate or heavy slow resistance training on structural and mechanical properties of patellar and Achilles tendons in older men, in vivo. Healthy older men (n = 27) undertook a 12-week resistance training program (3 times/week) of triceps surae and quadriceps muscle-tendon complexes. Participants were randomly assigned to either a moderate load of 55% 1RM (O55, n = 13, age: 70.
