The impact of children's interactions with parents in the context of out-of-home placements is receiving much-needed cross-disciplinary attention. However, the paucity of instruments that can reliably represent young children's experiences of such interactions precludes a nuanced evaluation of their impact on wellbeing and development. In response to this empirical gap, the present study investigates children's relational withdrawal as a clinically salient, easily observable and conceptually valid measure of infants' and toddlers' responses to parents.

Single-anastomosis duodenoileal bypass with sleeve gastrectomy (SADI-S) is a simplified biliopancreatic diversion. The objective of this study was to develop a reproducible animal model for SADI-S. We used three techniques for duodenal exclusion and duodenoileal anastomosis: (a) surgical clip and side-to-side anastomosis, (b) ligation and side-to-side anastomosis and (c) sectioning the duodenum, closing the duodenal stump and end-to-side anastomosis.

Electronic address:
Background: The composition of gut microbiota affects antitumor immune responses, preclinical and clinical outcome following immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) in cancer. Antibiotics (ATB) alter gut microbiota diversity and composition leading to dysbiosis, which may affect effectiveness of ICI.
Patients And Methods: We examined patients with advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treated with anti-programmed cell death ligand-1 mAb monotherapy or combination at two academic institutions.
Aims: Guideline-adherent treatment is associated with improved prognosis in atrial fibrillation (AF) patients but is insufficiently implemented in clinical practice. The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) performed a multinational educational needs assessment study among cardiologists, general practitioners/family physicians (GPs/FPs), and neurologists in order to evaluate knowledge and skills of physicians and system factors related to AF care delivery.
Methods And Results: A total of 561 physicians (294 cardiologists, 131 neurologists, and 136 GPs/FPs) from six European countries participated.

Background: Infant socioemotional development is often held under informal surveillance, but a formal screening program is needed to ensure systematic identification of developmental risk. Even when screening programs exist, they are often ineffective because health care professionals do not adhere to screening guidelines, resulting in low screening prevalence rates.
Objectives: To examine feasibility and acceptability of implementing universal screening for infant socioemotional problems with the Alarm Distress Baby Scale in primary care.

Background: Rapid weight loss after bariatric surgery is associated with a high prevalence of gallstone formation. In laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGBP), the bypassed segment is not readily available for endoscopic or radiographic examination. We propose a laparoscopic Janeway gastrostomy for secondary access to excluded structures in bariatric centers with no mandatory technical equipment in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), double-balloon ERCP or spiral enteroscopy.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) targeting the PD-1/PD-L1 axis induce sustained clinical responses in a sizable minority of cancer patients. We found that primary resistance to ICIs can be attributed to abnormal gut microbiome composition. Antibiotics inhibited the clinical benefit of ICIs in patients with advanced cancer.

Background: Maple syrup urine disease (MSUD) is a rare disease that requires a protein-restricted diet for successful management. Little is known, however, about the psychosocial outcome of MSUD patients. This study investigates the relationship between metabolic and clinical parameters and psychosocial outcomes in a cohort of patients with neonatal-onset MSUD.

Aim: To evaluate outcomes and post-donation kidney function of older living kidney donors (LKD).
Methods: Retrospective analysis of prospective database including all consecutive LKD undergoing laparoscopic nephrectomy in a single center (09/1998-12/2013). LKD aged ≥60 years were compared to younger LKD.

Introduction: Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) modifies gastrointestinal substances that control hunger and satiation via the brain-gut axis. A potential mechanism implicated in weight loss is the shift in food preferences. Our aim was to assess changes in taste preferences and their relationship to weight loss.

Background: Disseminated Histoplasmosis (DH) is a rare manifestation of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) in European countries. Naso-maxillar osteolysis due to Histoplasma capsulatum var. capsulatum (Hcc) is unusual in endemic countries and has never been reported in European countries.

The present study aims to determine to which extent social withdrawal at 1 year is associated with the child's IQ at the end of the preschool period. Children (N = 1045) from the EDEN mother-child cohort were assessed for social withdrawal behaviours at 1 year by trained midwives using the Alarm Distress BaBy (ADBB) scale. Midwives also examined infants' language and motor development at 1 year.

Background.: In recent years, pathophysiology of aortic stenosis (AS) has been considered as a possibly active inflammatory process, but its determinants remain unclear. Calcium tissue deposition observed in dilaysis patients have been linked to low level of Fetuin-A, a powerful inhibitor of ectopic calcification.

Background: FTC/TAF was shown to be noninferior to FTC/TDF with advantages in markers of renal and bone safety.
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of switching to FTC/TAF from FTC/TDF by third agent (boosted protease inhibitor [PI] vs. unboosted third agent).

Background: Weight loss and overall outcomes following laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB) are more variable than with other bariatric procedures. Our aim was to investigate the predictive value of certain parameters in a cohort of 794 patients with 10 years' minimum follow-up after LAGB.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the records of 794 patients undergoing LAGB performed by the authors between April 1996 and December 2004.

Background: We evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of first interpretations of computed tomographic (CT) images and blind interpretation using predefined CT signs in patients with previous Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGBP) and acute abdominal pain.
Methods: We performed a retrospective chart review of patients with RYGBP who underwent surgical exploration from January 2009 to December 2014 for acute abdominal pain in our university institution, excluding patients without CT scan and comparing initial CT imaging interpretation with surgical findings. Two blinded radiologist specialists in bariatric imaging evaluated the CT images for seven previously reported CT signs.

Background: Our aim is to report our initial experience with a novel technique which addresses morbid obesity and gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD) simultaneously by combination of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) and simplified laparoscopic Hill repair (sLHR).
Methods: Retrospective analysis of LSG+sLHR patients >5 months postoperatively includes demographics, GERD status, proton-pump inhibitor (PPI) use, body mass index (BMI), excess BMI loss (EBMIL), complications and GERD-Health Related Quality of Life (GERD-HRQL) questionnaire. LSG+sLHR surgical technique: posterior cruroplasty, standard LSG, fixation of the esophagogastric junction to the median arcuate ligament.
Background: One of the major complications related to delivery is labor dystocia, or an arrested labor progress. Many dystocic deliveries end vaginally after administration of oxytocin, but a large numbers of women with labor dystocia will undergo a long and unsafe parturition. As a result of the exertion required in labor, the uterus produces lactate.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common arrhythmia in patients with aortic stenosis. When these patients are treated medically or by surgical aortic valve replacement, AF is associated with increased risk of adverse events including death. Growing evidence suggests a significant impact of AF on outcomes also in patients with aortic valve stenosis undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI).
