Introduction: SCLC is characterized by aggressiveness and limited treatment options, especially in extensive-stage SCLC (ES-SCLC). Immunotherapy added to the platinum-etoposide combination has recently become standard in this setting. This retrospective study aims to evaluate the real-world effectiveness of chemo-immunotherapy in patients with ES-SCLC, focusing on subpopulations excluded from clinical trials.

A 65-year-old woman with a history of ductal mammary carcinoma and recent autonomic dysfunction underwent a Rb-82 chloride (RbCl) cardiac PET/CT scan that showed no ischemia or scarring, but significantly reduced myocardial flow reserve (MFR) (global: 1.5) and a CAC-Score of 0. The patient's chemotherapy history (paclitaxel, carboplatin, epirubicin, pembrolizumab 2 years before) with elevated Troponin T and NT-pro-BNP levels at that time, and now reduced MFR with 0 CAC suggests cancer-therapy-related cardiotoxicity.

Background: The introduction of quantitative SPECT/CT allows more objective assessments of tracer accumulation in SPECT. However standardized uptake values (SUV) still do not play a big role for orthopedic or oncologic questions. With a more reliable normalization, the use of quantitative measures might also be of use for a more objective assessment of lesions.

Background: There is limited information about psychological distress in adults who underwent kidney replacement therapy (KRT) during childhood. This study aimed to describe psychological distress in adults after KRT during childhood in comparison to the Swiss general population and to evaluate associations with sociodemographic and clinical characteristics.
Methods: We sent a questionnaire to 143 people from the Swiss Pediatric Renal Registry (SPRR), who were alive, over 18 years old, started KRT before the age of 18 years, and were German speakers.

In this randomized controlled trial, we assessed the non-inferiority of buddy taping to splinting after reduction of displaced extra-articular proximal and middle phalangeal finger fractures in children. The primary outcome was the rate of secondary fracture displacements; the secondary outcomes were patient comfort, analgesic efficacy and total range of active motion 6 months after injury. Eighty-one patients participated: 43 with taping and 38 with splinting.

Somatic variant testing through next-generation sequencing (NGS) is well integrated into Swiss molecular pathology laboratories and has become a standard diagnostic method for numerous indications in cancer patient care. Currently, there is a wide variation in reporting practices within our country, and as patients move between different hospitals, it is increasingly necessary to standardize NGS reports to ease their reinterpretation. Additionally, as many different stakeholders-oncologists, hematologists, geneticists, pathologists, and patients-have access to the NGS report, it needs to contain comprehensive and detailed information in order to answer the questions of experts and avoid misinterpretation by non-experts.

Introduction: Small cell transformation (SCT) is a typical mechanism of adaptive resistance to third generation epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitors (EGFRi) which have become the standard of care for EGFR-driven non-small cell lung cancer (EGFR+ NSCLC). Little is known about the optimal management of SCT patients. This study aimed to compare outcomes under platinum/etoposide chemotherapy alone (chemo) or in combination with EGFR inhibitors (EGFRi+chemo) or immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI+chemo).

Background: Continuously improving cancer-specific survival puts a growing proportion of cancer patients at risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), but tailored tools for cardiovascular risk prediction remain unavailable.
Objectives: To assess a broad panel of cardiovascular biomarkers and risk factors for the prediction of MACE and cardiovascular death in cancer patients.
Methods: In total, 2192 patients with newly diagnosed or recurrent cancer were followed prospectively for the occurrence of 2-year MACE and 5-year cardiovascular death.

Accumulation of senescent endothelial cells (ECs) with age is a pivotal driver of cardiovascular diseases in aging. However, little is known about the mechanisms and signaling pathways that regulate EC senescence. In this report, we delineate a previously unrecognized role of aquaporin 1 (AQP1) in orchestrating extracellular hydrogen peroxide (HO)-induced cellular senescence in aortic ECs.

Purpose: TMPRSS2:ERG gene fusion negatively regulates PSMA expression in prostate adenocarcinoma (PCa) cell lines. Therefore, immunohistochemical (IHC) ERG expression, a surrogate for an underlying ERG rearrangement, and PSMA expression patterns in radical prostatectomy (RPE) specimens of primary PCa, including corresponding PSMA-PET scans were investigated.
Methods: Two cohorts of RPE samples (total n=148): In cohort #1 (n=62 patients) with available RPE and preoperative [Ga]Ga-PSMA-11 PET, WHO/ISUP grade groups, IHC-ERG (positive vs.

Objectives: In our study, we aimed to characterise adult childhood cancer survivors (ACCS), assess their health issues, gauge health-related quality of life (HRQOL) and evaluate visit satisfaction.
Design: Prospective cohort study using data from clinical visits and questionnaires.
Setting: Interdisciplinary follow-up programme for ACCS based on the long-term follow-up (LTFU) guidelines of the Children's Oncology Group and overseen by internists in two Swiss hospitals.

Background: We previously demonstrated that the human amniotic fluid (hAF) from II trimester of gestation is a feasible source of stromal progenitors (human amniotic fluid stem cells, hAFSC), with significant paracrine potential for regenerative medicine. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) separated and concentrated from hAFSC secretome can deliver pro-survival, proliferative, anti-fibrotic and cardioprotective effects in preclinical models of skeletal and cardiac muscle injury. While hAFSC-EVs isolation can be significantly influenced by in vitro cell culture, here we profiled EVs directly concentrated from hAF as an alternative option and investigated their paracrine potential against oxidative stress.

Background: Symptom-checkers have become important tools for self-triage, assisting patients to determine the urgency of medical care. To be safe and effective, these tools must be validated, particularly to avoid potentially hazardous undertriage without leading to inefficient overtriage. Only limited safety data from studies including small sample sizes have been available so far.
