There are lack of indicators of quality of care in resuscitation units of emergency departments. With the aim of proposing a series of indicators to evaluate the quality of care delivered in hospital resuscitation areas, we conducted a descriptive study of 7579 admissions to the resuscitation unit of an emergency department at a Spanish hospital between 2012 and 2016. The proposed indicators were the percentage of patients attending to the emergency department admitted to the resuscitation area by level of triage, the length of stay, the percentage of patients moved to intensive care and surgery at disposition, the mortality in the area or in the emergency department within 24 hours of disposition, and the data completeness.

Purpose: Docetaxel improves survival in patients with metastatic prostate cancer. This randomized phase 2 trial aimed to assess the activity of weekly docetaxel with radiation therapy (RT) plus androgen deprivation in patients with high-risk localized prostate cancer. The study examined the benefit of 9 weekly docetaxel administrations to RT plus 3 years of luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone analogues.

Biological medicines nowadays have a great impact, as they offer treatment for diverse diseases and suppose a high cost for health system. Biosimilar medicines contain a version of an active substance already authorized as an original biotechnological medicine, whose patent has expired, and they comply with the guidelines published by the European Medicines Agency. These guidelines, where biosimilarity criteria are established, guarantee comparability between biosimilar product and reference one.

Introduction: Circulating tumor cell (CTC) count and cytokeratin 19 (CK19) mRNA expression have a prognostic value for patients with metastatic breast cancer (MBC), but their clinical utility remains controversial. We studied CTC count and CK19 mRNA expression in the peripheral blood samples from heavily pretreated patients with MBC and their correlations with prognosis and response to the subsequent line of therapy.
Methods: This prospective observational study included 67 consecutive patients with MBC who were on progression to systemic therapy, and criteria for a new line of systemic treatment were proposed outside a clinical trial.

Background: There is limited and inconclusive information regarding the influence of the modality of renal replacement therapy on the atherosclerotic burden of patients on dialysis. The aim of this study was to compare the prevalence of asymptomatic atheromatous carotid disease, as also its rate of progression and cardiovascular outcomes, in two matched populations of patients treated with hemodialysis (HD) and peritoneal dialysis (PD).
Methods: Following a prospective, observational and multicenter design, we compared 237 PD and 237 HD patients without previous cardiovascular disease, included in the NEFRONA study, and matched for age, sex, diabetes and time on dialysis.

Background: Docetaxel-cyclophosphamide (TC) has become a common regimen in moderate-high-risk early breast cancer (EBC), but the incidence of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) with this regimen is not well established. This trial investigates the effect of guideline-consistent prophylaxis on CINV related to TC regimen and explores the efficacy of aprepitant among resistant patients.
Patients And Methods: This prospective multicentre study enrolled 212 chemotherapy-naïve EBC patients receiving T-75 mg/m(2) and C-600 mg/m(2).

Background: Subgroup analyses of clinical studies suggest that bevacizumab plus XELOX is effective and tolerable in elderly patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). The prospective BECOX study examined the efficacy and safety of bevacizumab plus XELOX, followed by bevacizumab plus capecitabine in elderly patients with mCRC.
Methods: Patients aged ⩾70 years with Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status 0 out of 1 and confirmed mCRC were included.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that flow cytometric measurement of DNA content and cell proliferation is useful and provides significant information about the diagnosis and prognosis of non Hodgkin lymphoma.
Patients And Methods: Clinical and histologic information of 66 lymphoma patients was registered at diagnosis. Fifty thick sections of lymphoma samples and 67 control samples were deparaffined, rehydrated, dissected and DNA stained using a modification of the method described by Hedley.
