Purpose: This study evaluates the Social Return on Investment (SROI) of implementing measures to prevent fragility fractures in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis (OP) in Spain.
Methods: A group of 13 stakeholders identified necessary actions for improving refracture prevention and assessed the investment required from the Spanish National Health System (SNHS), considering direct, indirect, and intangible costs over a one-year period. Unitary costs were sourced from scientific literature and official data, and intangible costs were estimated through surveys on women's willingness to pay for better health-related quality of life.

Background And Objective: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines are extremely effective in preventing severe disease, but their real-world cost effectiveness is still an open question. We present an analysis of the cost-effectiveness and economic impact of the initial phase of the COVID-19 vaccination rollout in the Basque Country, Spain.
Methods: To calculate costs and quality-adjusted life years for the entire population of the Basque Country, dynamic modelling and a real-world data analysis were combined.

Due to population ageing and medical advances, people with advanced chronic diseases (ACD) live longer. Such patients are even more likely to face either temporary or permanent reduced functional reserve, which typically further increases their healthcare resource use and the burden of care on their caregiver(s). Accordingly, these patients and their caregiver(s) may benefit from integrated supportive care provided via digitally supported interventions.

Purpose: The objective of this study was to estimate the incidence and age of onset of mental disorders diagnosed by gender and socioeconomic status (SES) in children, adolescents, and young adults up to 30 years of age in the whole population of the Basque Country (Spain).
Methods: All mental health diagnoses documented in Basque Health Service records from 1 January 2003 to 31 December 2018, were classified into eight clusters: anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), conduct disorders, depression, psychosis/personality disorders, substance use, eating disorders, and self-harm. We calculated incidence and cumulative incidence for each cluster, disaggregated by gender, and socioeconomic status (SES).

Introduction: The effectiveness, safety, and cost-effectiveness of the use of Souvenaid for Alzheimer's disease (AD) have been previously evidenced. To complete the economic analysis, there is a need to assess whether society can afford it. The objective of this study was to carry out a budget impact analysis of the use of Souvenaid in Spain under the conditions of the LipiDidiet clinical trial from a societal perspective.

High bone mass (HBM) disorders are a clinically and genetically heterogeneous subgroup of rare skeletal dysplasias. Here we present a case of a previously unreported familial skeletal dysplasia characterized by HBM and lucent bone lesions that we aimed to clinically characterize and genetically investigate. For phenotyping, we reviewed past clinical records and imaging tests, and performed physical examination (PE), bone densitometry, and mineral panels in affected individuals, including a male proband, his son and daughter, in addition to unaffected controls, including the proband's wife and brother.

Objective: Inflammatory joint diseases cause pain and disability. The objective of this study was to measure the quality of life of patients with rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis treated with certolizumab pegol and compare the results with those of the general population.
Method: Using a cross-sectional design and sociodemographic and clinical variables, adherence to treatment and quality of life data were collected using the Euroqol-5d-5L (EQ-5D) questionnaire.

Introduction: The handling of information through digital media allows innovative approaches for identifying cases of dementia through computerised searches within the clinical databases that include systems for coding diagnoses. The aim of this study was to analyse the validity of a dementia registry in Gipuzkoa based on the administrative and clinical databases existing in the Basque Health Service.
Methods: This is a descriptive study based on the evaluation of available data sources.

COVID-19 behaves like a heterogeneous disease. Some patients may develop dyspnea-free hypoxemia during its evolution (silent hypoxemia). Pulse oximetry plays a crucial role in detecting hypoxemia in these patients, especially when they remain at home.

Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of TCZ in monotherapy (TCZ) vs. combined with conventional immunosuppressive drugs (TCZ) in Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA) in a clinical practice scenario.
Methods: Multicenter study of 134 patients with refractory GCA.
Background: The main objective of this study was to evaluate the morbidity and mortality following periprosthetic femoral fractures (PFFs) after total hip arthroplasty. The secondary objectives were to explore risk factors for mortality and compare outcomes by method of treatment.
Methods: A multicenter retrospective study was conducted (2016-2017) of all PFFs after total hip arthroplasty.

Background: The LipiDiDiet trial showed that Souvenaid, a medical food, might delay progression to dementia in prodromal Alzheimer's disease (AD). The objective of this study was to assess the cost-utility of Souvenaid compared to placebo in patients with prodromal AD under the conditions applied in that trial.
Methods: A discrete event simulation model was developed based on the LipiDiDiet trial and a literature review to assess the cost-utility of Souvenaid from a societal perspective considering direct and indirect costs.

Objectives: A potential point of concern among clinicians is whether results derived from the clinical trials can be reasonably applied or generalised to a definable group of patients seen in real world. It can be the case of the GiACTA study that is a phase III randomised controlled trial of tocilizumab (TCZ) in giant cell arteritis (GCA). To address this question, we compared the clinical features and the responses to TCZ from the GiACTA trial patients with those from a series of GCA seen in the daily clinical practice.
