Background: Sulcus Vocalis (SV) is a voice disorder characterized by the parallel invagination of the vocal fold epithelium that adheres to the vocal ligament. This condition disrupts the vibratory function, leading to glottal incompetence, hoarseness, and vocal impairment. Despite various proposed surgical techniques, a standardized treatment approach remains elusive.

Article Synopsis
  • - Group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) are similar to type 2 helper T cells and play a role in immune responses and tissue health by producing type 2 cytokines, but their metabolism and regulation are not well understood.
  • - Research shows that 'naive' ILC2s have higher oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) levels compared to natural killer (NK) cells, and these cells are significantly reduced in patients with mitochondrial diseases affecting OXPHOS.
  • - When ILC2s are activated by interleukin-33 (IL-33), they switch to rely on glycolysis and mTOR for producing IL-13, while still using amino acids to fuel OXPH

Objectives: Inherent technical aspects of pulmonary lobectomy by video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) may limit surgeons' ability to deal with factors predisposing to complications. We analysed complication rates after VATS lobectomy in a prospectively maintained nationwide registry.

Methods: The registry was queried for all consecutive VATS lobectomy procedures from 49 Italian Thoracic Units.

Evidence supporting the use of second generation antipsychotics (SGAs) in the treatment of acute depression with mixed features (MFs) associated with bipolar disorder (BD) is scarce and equivocal. Therefore, we conducted a systematic review and preliminary meta-analysis investigating SGAs in the treatment of acute BD depression with MFs. Two authors independently searched major electronic databases from 1990 until September 2015 for randomized (placebo-) controlled trials (RCTs) or open-label clinical trials investigating the efficacy of SGAs in the treatment of acute bipolar depression with MFs.
