Background: The treatment of multiple mandibular fractures may often be challenging. The aim of this study was to evaluate the characteristics and outcomes of multiple mandibular fractures, with a focus on triple mandibular fractures.
Material And Methods: Patients with multiple (triple) mandibular fractures were included.

Purpose: To investigate early changes in AMD by evaluating and comparing choriocapillaris (CC) flow in fellow eyes of patients with unilateral neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) and in healthy controls using swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography (SS-OCTA).
Methods: Patients with unilateral nAMD and no/early/intermediate AMD (no/e/iAMD) in their fellow eye and normal controls who underwent SS-OCT and OCTA where included. CC perfusion was assessed on MATLAB as percentage of flow deficits (FD%) in the central 4.

Introduction And Hypothesis: Obstetric anal sphincter injuries (OASIs), third- and fourth-degree lacerations, represent a severe obstetric complication. Previous studies reported a higher incidence of OASIs in Asian women in non-Asian countries. This study was aimed at establishing a different OASIs prevalence among the racial/ethnic groups in Southern European centers.

Purpose: To evaluate different quantitative non-invasive retinal biomarkers of microvascular impairment and neurodegeneration in patients affected by mild and moderate non proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) with or without macular microaneurysms (MAs).
Methods: A cross-sectional case-control study. Ninety-seven eyes with NPDR, 49 with no central MAs and 48 with central MAs, underwent color fundus photography and optical coherence tomography (OCT)/OCT-angiography (OCT-A).

Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is one of the most common morbidities of pregnancy. The impact of increased maternal blood glucose on fetoplacental hemodynamics is not fully elucidated, especially in patients with uncontrolled GDM necessitating insulin therapy. The objective of this study was to assess the impact of insulin therapy on the umbilical artery dopplers in GDM pregnancies adequate for gestational-age fetuses.

Multiple myeloma (MM) is linked to chronic NF-κB activity in myeloma cells, but this activity is generally considered a cell-autonomous property of the cancer cells. The precise extent of NF-κB activation and the contributions of the physical microenvironment and of cell-to-cell communications remain largely unknown. By quantitative immunofluorescence, we found that NF-κB is mildly and heterogeneously activated in a fraction of MM cells in human BMs, while only a minority of MM cells shows a strong activation.

Obesity has been recognized as a potential risk factor for the carcinogenesis of differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC). The aim of this observational study was to investigate the prognostic role of BMI in influencing DTC histopathological aggressiveness and the risk of tumor relapse. We enrolled 257 patients with DTC, consecutively admitted to our Institution between January 2016 and December 2023.

Purpose: Data regarding [18]FDG-PET/CT for the characterization of adrenal lesions are limited. Most of the studies proposed the tumor-to-liver maximum standardized uptake values (SUVratio) > 1.5 as the best cut off to predict malignancy.

The evaluation of estimated GFR (eGFR) is a pivotal staging step in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), and renal ultrasound plays an important role in diagnosis, prognosis and progression of CKD. The interaction between histopathological diagnosis and ultrasound parameters in eGFR determination has not been fully investigated yet. The study examined the results of native kidney biopsies performed in 48 Italian centers between 2012 and 2020.

Introduction: Catheter-related bloodstream infections are among the most critical issues associated with central venous catheters used for dialysis treatment. To reduce the incidence of this life-threatening complication, various strategies have been developed. Among these, Hub Devices have been introduced in clinical practice to prevent microbial growth at the hub of the catheter.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) systems in detecting perfusion defects (PDs). The defect perfusion index (DPI) was introduced to extend and further advance the current MPI quality metrics.
Methods: An anthropomorphic phantom simulating normal and pathological myocardial perfusion conditions was imaged by various NaI-crystal detector systems with and without corrections for scatter (SC) and attenuation (AC) (Symbia, Symbia + SC, Symbia IQ + SCAC, Symbia IQ), and cadmium-zinc-telluride detector systems without corrections (DSPECT, D530c).

Objective: Compared with standard excision with a two-dimensional histological examination, Mohs micrographic surgery offers a lower recurrence rate and a greater extent of healthy tissue sparing for the treatment of high-risk basal cell carcinoma (BCC). The aims of this study were to first quantify the healthy tissue spared through the micrographic technique compared to traditional surgery for high-risk tumours. Then, to speculate, through the analysis of the distal micrographic resection margin, the adequate width of safety margins for standard excision.

A transitional program with non-invasive telemonitoring may help sustain patients and their caregivers to timely recognize signs and symptoms of exacerbation. We will conduct a Randomized Clinical Trial (RCT) to evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of a 6-month supportive intervention for patients discharged home after cardiac decompensation.

Autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP) is a unique form of chronic pancreatitis with a multifactorial pathogenesis. Historically, it has been classified as type 1 and type 2, according to its clinical and histological features. The diagnosis of AIP is challenging and relies on a combination of clinical, histopathologic, serologic, and imaging characteristics.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder lacking reliable biomarkers for early diagnosis and disease progression monitoring. This study aimed to identify the novel biomarkers in plasmatic extracellular vesicles (EVs) isolated from ALS patients and healthy controls (HCs). A total of 61 ALS patients and 30 age-matched HCs were enrolled in the study and the protein content of circulating EVs was analyzed by shotgun proteomics.
