There is growing evidence that liver transplantation (LT) is the most effective treatment for acute-on-chronic liver failure grade-3 (ACLF-3). This study examines whether and how this evidence translates into practice by analyzing the variability in intensive care unit (ICU) admissions, listing strategies, and LT activity for patients with ACLF-3 across transplantation centers in Europe. Consecutive patients who were admitted to the ICU with ACLF-3, whether or not they were listed and/or transplanted with ACLF-3, between 2018 and 2019 were included across 20 transplantation centers.

Background: Different techniques to reshape the posterior skull vault have been developed in the last decades, all sharing the same goals of increasing the skull volume, decreasing the intracranial pressure (ICP), correcting the cranial dysmorphy, and contributing to a better growth of the skull. Though over the last years most refinements in these techniques have focused on the use of hardware as distractors or springs, the fixed posterior vault expansion remains a valuable procedure for cranial remodeling.
Methods: We describe in details the technique used for fixed posterior vault expansion in children that is applied at the French Referral center for Craniosynostosis of Lyon, France.

EA 7426 PI3 (Pathophysiology of Injury-induced Immunosuppression), Hospices Civils de Lyon/University of Lyon/bioMérieux, Hôpital E. Herriot.
Introduction: Brain injuries can cause systemic immunosuppression, which in turn can lead to infections that adversely affect the injured brain and worsen clinical outcomes. This study aimed to investigate whether systemic infection, such as ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), induce intracranial inflammation in patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH).
Methods: This prospective, observational study included 16 adults with SAH treated in the neuro-intensive care unit.

: An important variability of anaesthetic standards of care was discovered in the obstetric departments of many European Union countries. After discussing this issue in various meetings of the European Society of Anaesthesiology (ESA) board and its obstetric subcommittee, European Board of Anaesthesiology of the European Union of Medical Specialists (EBA-UEMS) executive members, ESA obstetric subcommittee members and European experts in obstetric anaesthesiology have participated in the elaboration of this document. This experts' opinion is focused mainly on obstetric patients and safety concerns in terms of minimum standards of practice.
