Background: The prognosis for patients with stage Ib (second English edition of the Japanese classification of gastric carcinoma) gastric cancer is promising, with an expected 5-year survival of 90%. Purpose: During conservative therapy of infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis (IHPS) with atropine sulfate, there are many patients who do not achieve normal values of pyloric wall thickness and canal length even though they are clinically cured (vomiting has ceased); an objective criterion for cure has not yet been established. The aim of this study was to examine whether the appearance of pyloric wall stratification can be used as a criterion for cure.

Methods: Twenty infants with IHPS who were treated conservatively were enrolled.

To measure the narrow beam used in stereotactic irradiation, installation of the ionization chamber parallel to the X-ray beam axis has been used instead of perpendicular installation. However, the definition of the effective point is a major problem in the parallel installation. Growth arrest in the epiphyseal plate during childhood often causes both periarticular deformities and limb length discrepancy, leading to compartmental osteoarthrosis and gait disturbance or spinal disorders, respectively. Distraction osteogenesis using external fixators with hinge systems appears to be useful for the simultaneous correction of deformity and shortening. In this paper, we evaluated cases of lower limbs with periarticular deformities and limb length discrepancy after epiphyseal plate injury that has been treated by distraction osteogenesis using external fixators.

According to the MRI findings, the lesions extended into the pre-supplementary motor area (pre-SMA).
