Background: Sarcopenia is a clinical syndrome characterized by the loss of muscle mass and strength. Hormonal changes that occur early in women may influence protein synthesis and promote muscle atrophy, leading to probable sarcopenia, defined as a loss of muscle strength without an obvious decrease in muscle mass. Various types of exercise have already proven effective in treating sarcopenia.

Although steatotic liver onset after natural menopause has been reported, evidence on the clinical course and treatment options for steatotic liver after surgical menopause is scarce. A 34-year-old woman with a history of severe obesity presented to our department with liver dysfunction following total hysterectomy and bilateral oophorectomy. Her serum estradiol level was notably low at 22 pg/mL, and a liver biopsy revealed significant fatty degeneration, lobular inflammation, hepatocyte ballooning, and stage F1 fibrosis.

Pathological scars are classified into hypertrophic scars and keloids, and currently have poor treatment outcomes and high recurrence rates. Bleomycin has received widespread attention in scar treatment in recent years, but there is currently no exploration on its real-world data. PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane databases were searched, and eight retrospective studies on the use of bleomycin for treatment were included, covering a total of 562 patients with keloids and hypertrophic scars.

Organized sports are governed by specific rules which aim to create or preserve fair play. An unfair advantage can be obtained by the use of specific substances or methods, also referred to as doping. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) leads the international doping-free sport movement and annually publishes the List of Prohibited Substances and Methods (List), that is used by most sport federations and organizations around the world.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is infamous for its aggressive phenotype and poorer prognosis when compared to other breast cancer subtypes. One factor contributing to this poor prognosis is that TNBC lacks expression of the receptors that available hormonal or molecular-oriented therapies attack. New treatments that exploit biological targets specific to TNBC are desperately needed to improve patient outcomes.

Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is an immune-mediated chronic fibro-inflammatory condition, that can involve multiple systems. Immunoglobulin G4-related respiratory disease (IgG4-RRD) is relatively rare, with non-specific clinical symptoms. Hemoptysis is a rare clinical symptom of IgG4-RRD, and cases of massive hemoptysis in adults have not been reported.

Male breast cancer (MBC) is a rare type of cancer that affects men, accounting for only 1% of all cancers in men and all breast cancer cases worldwide. Its rarity is due to the differences in male endocrine function and the smaller amount of mammary tissue in males. Due to its infrequency, there is limited knowledge about the disease, and treatment recommendations are often based on extrapolation from clinical trial data involving female breast cancer patients.

Purpose: Current management for clinically localized prostate cancer in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) includes surgery, external beam radiation therapy (EBRT), and brachytherapy either alone or in combination, with plus or minus hormone therapy. The toxicity profiles and oncological outcomes of these treatment modalities vary. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to determine the prevalence of treatment-related outcomes and toxicities for men diagnosed with localized prostate cancer in LMICs.

Endometriosis affects about 10 percent women in the reproductive age group globally and approximately 42 million in India. Managing the patient's pain symptoms associated with endometriosis appears to be the cornerstone in endometriosis disease management. The ideal medical treatment in endometriosis would be suppressing estradiol enough to alleviate symptoms of endometriosis but maintain sufficient levels to mitigate hypoestrogenic side effects.

Introduction: While there is some data on the bone health of transgender individuals, less is known about their fracture patterns. The authors of this study aimed to describe the anatomic locations of fractures and the prevalence of select comorbidities among transgender patients who presented with fractures at a single institution.
Methods: The authors conducted a retrospective chart review of patients with fractures at a single institution between January 2020 and January 2021.

Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate the ability of Ramulus Mori (Sangzhi) alkaloid tablets (SZ-A) to ameliorate obesity and lipid metabolism disorders in rats subjected to a high-fat diet (HFD) through metagenomics, untargeted lipidomics, targeted metabolism of bile acid (BA), and BA pathways, providing a novel perspective on the management of metabolic disorders.
Methods: In this research, HFD-fed rats were concurrently administered SZ-A orally. We measured changes in body weight (BW), blood lipid profiles, and liver function to assess therapeutic effects.

The use of video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) has increased in recent years. We herein report a case wherein suspected intramammary lymph node (IM) recurrence of breast cancer was treated using the thoracic approach (VATS). A 53-year-old woman had undergone right total mastectomy, axillary lymph node dissection, and implant-based reconstruction for right breast cancer 19 years ago.

Purpose: We aimed to assess the changes in body fat distribution, intraorgan lipid accumulation, and cardiometabolic risk factors after 6 months of gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) in transgender men (TM) and transgender women (TW).
Methods: Conducted at the Medical University of Vienna between 2019 and 2022, the study included 15 TW and 20 TM. We conducted magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy to determine the visceral (VAT) and subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) amounts, the VAT/SAT ratio, and the intraorgan lipid content (liver, pancreas, myocardium), bloodwork, and an oral glucose tolerance test at baseline and after 6 months of GAHT.

Background: Hair thinning in men is a prevalent issue for which treatment oftentimes consists of a multi-modal approach. Targeting key root causes of hair thinning, such as hormones, stress, and metabolism through vitamins, minerals, and botanicals, has been shown to be effective in improving hair growth and quality in women. This approach could also be effective in improving hair growth and quality in men with thinning hair.

Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder affecting both sexes, but differences exist between male and female in clinical manifestations, functional impact of symptoms and hormonal influences. Therefore, representativeness of females in PD trials indirectly determines the external validity of the clinical research in this field.
Objective: To estimate the representativeness of female in infusion therapy trials for advanced PD.

Objective: Ghrelin is emerging as a promising therapeutic option for heart failure (HF) due to its potent inotropic, anabolic, and cardioprotective properties. This review aims to critically examine the available clinical evidence on ghrelin therapy in HF, while also incorporating key findings from preclinical studies that support its therapeutic potential.
Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted in PubMed and the Cochrane Library up to September 15, 2024, using the keywords "heart failure" and "ghrelin.

BACKGROUND Although hypomagnesemia is common in type 2 diabetes, clinical presentations with severe hypomagnesemia are rare. A number of oral blood glucose-lowering medications can reduce serum magnesium concentrations, and several severe cases have been reported in the presence of marked glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1RA)-associated gastrointestinal adverse effects. In the present case, an acute presentation with severe hypomagnesemia was likely due to polypharmacy including semaglutide, albeit with a delayed relationship to discontinuation of this GLP-1RA, due to nausea and vomiting.

The nature of somatotroph adenomas has not been clearly revealed in studies. We consider that there are macroscopic differences in intraoperative tumor consistency in acromegaly patients. We aimed to determine whether there is a relationship between intraoperative tumor consistency and histopathological subtypes by planning a prospective study to determine whether these differences are significant.
