Objectives: One main challenge for textile implants is to limit the foreign body reaction (FBR) and in particular the fibrosis development once the device is implanted. Fibrotic tissue in-growth depends on the fiber size, the pore size, and the organization of the fibrous construction. Basically, non-woven fibrous assemblies present a more favorable interface to biological tissues than do woven structures.

Introduction: Toll-like receptors play crucial roles in the sepsis-induced systemic inflammatory response. Septic shock mortality correlates with overexpression of neutrophilic TLR2 and TLR9, while the role of TLR4 overexpression remains a debate. In addition, TLRs are involved in the pathogenesis of viral infections such as COVID-19, where the single-stranded RNA of SARS-CoV-2 is recognized by TLR7 and TLR8, and the spike protein activates TLR4.

Background: Knee periprosthetic femoral fractures (KPPFF) are becoming more frequent due to the increasing number of arthroplasties and the aging population, for whom maintaining autonomy and function remains a challenge. The use of locking plates has improved functional results and promoted the development of "minimally invasive" surgical (MIS) approaches. Despite the availability of literature comparing between different types of osteosynthesis for KPPFF, there is a paucity of information available on the complications of osteosynthesis using locking plates, depending on the approach.

Background: Sjögren's disease is a heterogenous autoimmune disease with a wide range of symptoms-including dryness, fatigue, and pain-in addition to systemic manifestations and an increased risk of lymphoma. We aimed to identify distinct subgroups of the disease, using cluster analysis based on subjective symptoms and clinical and biological manifestations, and to compare the prognoses of patients in these subgroups.
Methods: This study included patients with Sjögren's disease from two independent cohorts in France: the cross-sectional Paris-Saclay cohort and the prospective Assessment of Systemic Signs and Evolution of Sjögren's Syndrome (ASSESS) cohort.

Background: Although the group of paroxysmal kinesigenic dyskinesia (PKD) genes is expanding, the molecular cause remains elusive in more than 50% of cases.
Objective: The aim is to identify the missing genetic causes of PKD.
Methods: Phenotypic characterization, whole exome sequencing and association test were performed among 53 PKD cases.

Introduction: After rotator cuff repair (RCR), return to work and return to sports is affected by various psychosocial factors. The role of one of these factors - mood and anxiety disorders (MAD) - is still not clear. The primary objective of this study was to determine the influence of prior MAD on the return to work and return to sports after RCR.

Central nervous system (CNS) dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVF) have been reported in PTEN-related hamartoma tumor syndrome (PHTS). However, PHTS-associated DAVF remain an underexplored field of the PHTS clinical landscape. Here, we studied cases with a PTEN pathogenic variant identified between 2007 and 2020 in our laboratory (n = 58), and for whom brain imaging was available.

Introduction: The global SARS-CoV-2 pandemic led to an increased incidence of post-intubation laryngeal injuries in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). The primary objective of this study was to identify risk factors for symptomatic laryngeal lesions in patients with Covid-19-related ARDS. The secondary objective was to analyze the progression of these laryngeal lesions.

Background: French medical graduates undertake a national examination at the end of their studies with a subsequent national ranking. Specialty is then chosen by each candidate according to their ranking. This study aims to describe the attractiveness of surgical specialties and the evolution of the male-female distribution among French medical graduates (FMG) from 2017 to 2022.

Background: No randomised controlled trial has ever been done in patients with metastatic phaeochromocytomas and paragangliomas. Preclinical and first clinical evidence suggested beneficial effects of sunitinib. We aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of sunitinib in patients with metastatic phaeochromocytomas and paragangliomas.

Background: The effects of pharmacological therapy on cardiogenic shock (CS) survivors have not been extensively studied. Thus, this study investigated the association between guideline-directed heart failure (HF) medical therapy (GDMT) and one-year survival rate in patients who are post-CS.
Methods And Results: FRENSHOCK (French Observatory on the Management of Cardiogenic Shock in 2016) registry was a prospective multicenter observational survey, conducted in metropolitan French intensive care units and intensive cardiac care units.

Background: One of the major challenges in managing allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis remains consistent and reproducible assessment of response to treatment.
Research Question: What are the most relevant changes in CT scan parameters over time for assessing response to treatment?
Study Design And Methods: In this ancillary study of a randomized clinical trial (NebuLamB), patients with asthma with available CT scan and without exacerbation during a 4-month allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis exacerbation treatment period (corticosteroids and itraconazole) were included. Changed CT scan parameters were assessed by systematic analyses of CT scan findings at initiation and end of treatment.

Hard tissue regenerative mesoporous bioactive glass (MBG) has traditionally been synthesized using costly and toxic alkoxysilane agents and harsh conditions. In this study, MBG was synthesized using the cheaper reagent SiOby using a co-precipitation approach. The surface properties of MBG ceramic were tailored by functionalizing with amino and carboxylic groups, aiming to develop an efficient drug delivery system for treating bone infections occurring during or after reconstruction surgeries.

Background: High acinar pancreatic contents are associated with a higher rate of postpancreatectomy acute pancreatitis and pancreatic fistula formation (POPF). Predicting acinar contents preoperatively might identify those at high risk of developing postoperative complications.
Methods: A multivariable analysis was performed to identify radiological factors associated with high pancreatic acinar content at histology in patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy.
