Efficacy and Safety of Early Administration of 4-Factor Prothrombin Complex Concentrate in Patients With Trauma at Risk of Massive Transfusion: The PROCOAG Randomized Clinical Trial.

Importance: Optimal transfusion strategies in traumatic hemorrhage are unknown. Reports suggest a beneficial effect of 4-factor prothrombin complex concentrate (4F-PCC) on blood product consumption.

Objective: To investigate the efficacy and safety of 4F-PCC administration in patients at risk of massive transfusion.

Fetal growth disorders following medically assisted reproduction: due to maternal context or techniques? A national French cohort study.

Research Question: What part do maternal context and medically assisted reproduction (MAR) techniques play in the risk of fetal growth disorders?

Design: This retrospective nationwide cohort study uses data available in the French National Health System database and focuses on the period from 2013 to 2017. Fetal growth disorders were divided into four groups according to the origin of pregnancy: fresh embryo transfer (n = 45,201), frozen embryo transfer (FET, n = 18,845), intrauterine insemination (IUI, n = 20,179) and natural conceptions (n = 3,412,868). Fetal growth disorders were defined from the percentiles of the weight distribution according to gestational age and sex: small and large for gestational age (SGA and LGA) if <10th and >90th percentiles, respectively.

Relationship of Extravascular Lung Water and Pulmonary Vascular Permeability to Respiratory Mechanics in Patients with COVID-19-Induced ARDS.

During acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), the increase in pulmonary vascular permeability and lung water induced by pulmonary inflammation may be related to altered lung compliance. A better understanding of the interactions between respiratory mechanics variables and lung water or capillary permeability would allow a more personalized monitoring and adaptation of therapies for patients with ARDS. Therefore, our main objective was to investigate the relationship between extravascular lung water (EVLW) and/or pulmonary vascular permeability index (PVPI) and respiratory mechanic variables in patients with COVID-19-induced ARDS.

Longitudinal uric acid has nonlinear association with kidney failure and mortality in chronic kidney disease.

We investigated the shape of the relationship between longitudinal uric acid (UA) and the hazard of kidney failure and death in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients, and attempted to identify thresholds associated with increased hazards. We included CKD stage 3-5 patients from the CKD-REIN cohort with one serum UA measurement at cohort entry. We used cause-specific multivariate Cox models including a spline function of current values of UA (cUA), estimated from a separate linear mixed model.

Impact of patient ancestry on heterogeneity of Sjögren's disease.

Objectives: We aimed to compare disease characteristics between primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) patients of African ancestry (AA) and Caucasian ancestry.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective, case-control study in a French national and European referral centre for pSS. All patients with pSS of AA were matched with two Caucasians patients having similar follow-up duration.

Development and validation of an electronic daily control score for asthma (e-DASTHMA): a real-world direct patient data study.

Background: Validated questionnaires are used to assess asthma control over the past 1-4 weeks from reporting. However, they do not adequately capture asthma control in patients with fluctuating symptoms. Using the Mobile Airways Sentinel Network for airway diseases (MASK-air) app, we developed and validated an electronic daily asthma control score (e-DASTHMA).

[Follow-up strategies for lung transplant recipients in France].

Background: Lung transplantation (LT) requires sustained care for a frequently polypathological condition. Follow-up is focused on three main issues: 1/stability of respiratory function; 2/comorbidity management; 3/preventive medicine. About 3000 LT patients in France are treated in 11 LT centers.
