Pregnancy and newborn outcomes after exposure to bisphosphonates: a case-control study.

Osteoporos Int

January 2019

Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP), Hôpitaux Universitaires Paris-Sud, Department of Rheumatology, Hôpital Bicêtre Université Paris-Sud, INSERM U1184, 78 rue du Général Leclerc, 94275, Le Kremlin Bicêtre, France.

Unlabelled: We analyzed women and newborn outcome after maternal exposure to BPs. BPs have no teratogenic effect on the 36 analyzed pregnancies compared to unexposed controls matched on women underlying diseases (either systemic disease, either "bone" disease) but some outcome differed: neonatal complications rate in systemic diseases and live birth rate in bone diseases).

Introduction: The effect of bisphosphonates (BPs) during pregnancy remains unclear.

Service d'oncologie digestive et médicale, hôpital Beaujon, AP-HP, 100, boulevard du Géneral-Leclerc, 92110 Clichy, France; Université Paris Diderot, 100, boulevard du Géneral-Leclerc, 92110 Clichy, France.

At diagnosis, about 15% of patients with pancreatic cancer present with a resectable tumour, 50% have a metastatic tumour, and 25% a locally advanced tumor (non-metastatic but unresectable due to vascular invasion) or borderline resectable. Despite the technical progress made in the field of radiation therapy and the improvement of the efficacy of chemotherapy, the prognosis of these patients remains very poor. Recently, the role of radiation therapy in the management of pancreatic cancer has been much debated.

Background: Reducing acute pain in premature infants during neonatal care improves their neurophysiological development. The use of pharmacological and non-pharmacological analgesia, such as sucrose, is limited per day, particularly for very preterm infants. Thus, the usual practice of non-nutritive sucking is often used alone.

An estimated 990,000 new cases of gastric cancer are diagnosed worldwide each year. Surgical excision, the only chance for prolonged survival, is feasible in about 20% of cases. Even after surgery, the median survival is limited to 12 to 20 months due to the frequency of locoregional and/or metastatic recurrences.

Updated clinical models for VTE prediction in hospitalized medical patients.

Thromb Res

April 2018

Service d'Hématologie Biologique Hôpital Tenon, Hôpitaux Universitaires Est Parisien, Assistance Publique Hôpitaux de Paris, France; Cancer Biology and Therapeutics, Centre de Recherche Saint-Antoine, INSERM U938, Institut Universitaire de Cancérologie (IUC), Université Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC) Faculté de Médecine, Sorbonne Universities, Paris, France.

Venous thromboembolism (VTE) occurring in hospitalized medical patients is associated with increased length of hospitalization, high rate of acute care hospital transfer, longer inpatient rehabilitation and multiplication of health-care costs. Identification of acutely ill hospitalized medical patients eligible for thromboprophylaxis is a sophisticated process. Global VTE risk stems from the combination of predictors related with the acute medical illness, comorbidities, associated treatments and patients' intrinsic risk factors.

To determine whether the current F-FDG PET response criterion for skeletal involvement in Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) is suitable, we performed a systematic evaluation of the different types of skeletal involvement and their response on PET after 2 cycles of chemotherapy (PET-2). A secondary objective was to observe the influence of the initial uptake intensity (measured as qPET) and initial metabolic tumor volume (MTV) of skeletal lesions on the PET-2 response. The initial PET scans of 1,068 pediatric HL patients from the EuroNet-PHL-C1 trial were evaluated for skeletal involvement by central review.
