Background: Recent studies have revealed the correlation between serum vitamin D (VD) level and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), but the causality and specific mechanisms remain uncertain.
Objective: We aimed to investigate the cause-effect relationship between serum VD and PCOS, and the role of testosterone in the related pathological mechanisms.
Methods: We assessed the causality between serum VD and PCOS by using genome-wide association studies (GWAS) data in a bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomization (TS-MR) analysis.

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most common type of kidney cancer associated with poor prognosis, and accounts for the majority of RCC-related deaths. The lack of comprehensive diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers has limited further understanding of the pathophysiology of ccRCC. Super-enhancers (SEs) are congregated enhancer clusters that have a key role in tumor processes such as epithelial-mesenchymal transition, metabolic reprogramming, immune escape and resistance to apoptosis.

This study aimed to investigate the effect and underlying mechanism of Poria cocos polysaccharides(PCP) on myocardial cell apoptosis in the rat model of myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury(MI/RI). Male SPF-grade SD rats were randomly divided into a sham group(saline), a model group(saline), low-and high-dose PCP groups(100 and 200 mg·kg~(-1)), and a fasudil group(10 mg·kg~(-1)), with 16 rats in each group. Except for the sham group, the other four groups underwent left anterior descending coronary artery ligation for 30 min followed by reperfusion for 2 h to establish the MI/RI model.

Gastrectomy is a technically demanding procedure for gastric cancer patients that is associated with different degrees of postoperative complications (POCs). Perioperative traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) nursing intervention presents benefits for improving the survival of patients with gastric cancer. However, the effects of TCM nursing intervention on POCs and the prognosis of patients with gastric cancer following surgery are far from clear.

Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations are the most common oncogenic driver in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Epidermal growth factor receptor-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) are widely used in the treatment of lung cancer, especially in the first-line treatment of advanced NSCLC, and EGFR-TKIs monotherapy has achieved better efficacy and tolerability compared with standard chemotherapy. However, acquired resistance to EGFR-TKIs and associated adverse events pose a significant obstacle to targeted lung cancer therapy.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of high-quality nursing on inflammation and prognosis in postoperative patients with advanced nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Methods: A total of 372 patients with NSCLC were enrolled between the May 2014 and June 2016.

The abnormal proliferation, migration, and epithelial-mesenchymal transformation (EMT) of lens epithelial cells (LECs) are the main reasons for vision loss caused by posterior capsular opacification (PCO) after cataract surgery. Insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) was found to be associated with the pathogenesis of cataracts, but its biological role in PCO is poorly understood. In the present study, IGF-1 overexpression facilitated the proliferation, migration, and EMT, whereas knockdown of IGF-1 markedly suppressed the proliferation, migration, and TGF-2-induced EMT of LECs.

This work aimed to research the function of MARVEL domain-containing protein 1 (MARVELD1) in glioma as well as its functioning mode. Bioinformatics analysis was utilized to assess the MARVELD1 expression in glioma tissues and its relationship with grade and prognosis, based on The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx), and Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas (CGGA) databases. Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8), colony formation, and Transwell assays were carried out to determine the impact of MARVELD1 on malignant biological behavior of glioma, such as proliferation, invasion, and migration.

Osteosarcoma (OS) is a primary malignant tumor characterized by a high metastatic potential and poor prognosis. The dysregulation of miR-588 has been demonstrated to serve crucial roles in the progression of numerous types of cancer. The present study aimed to investigate the expression and function of miR-588 in the development of OS.

Introduction: Cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury (CI/R) is associated with high mortality and remains a large challenge in the clinic. Syringin is a bioactive compound with anti-inflammation, antioxidant, as well as neuroprotective effects. Nevertheless, whether syringin could protect against CI/R injury and its potential mechanism was still unclear.

Background: The high-temperature requirement factor A1 (HTRA1) gene located at 10q26 locus has been associated with age-related macular degenerative (AMD), with the significantly related polymorphism being (rs11200638, -625G/A), however, above association is not consistent. We investigated a comprehensive analysis to evaluate the correlations between rs11200638 polymorphism and AMD susceptibility thoroughly addressing this issue.
Methods: An identification was covered from the PubMed and Wanfang databases until 27th Jan, 2020.

Objective: To identify the mRNAs associated with bladder cancer (BC) recurrence.
Methods: The transcription profile of GSE31684 including 39 recurrent BC tumor samples and 54 non-recurrent BC tumor samples as well as transcription profile of GSE13507 including 36 recurrent BC tumor samples and 67 non-recurrent BC tumor samples were downlaoded from the Gene Expression Omnibus. Then, the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified using linear models for microarray data (limma) and the intersections of DEGs from the two datasets were further screened.

Statins, a class of hyperlipidemic drugs, are widely used cholesterol lowering drugs that selectively inhibit 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl CoA reductase, which is the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis, leading to decreasing of cholesterol biosynthesis. Statins exert anti-tumoral effects on various cancer, including breast cancer. However, the molecular mechanisms for the actions were not fully elucidated.

Diagnostic value of urinary retinol binding protein (RBP), albumin (ALB) and aquaporin-2 (AQP2) in neonatal hydronephrosis and their relationship with the expression of monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 (MCP-1) in the prenatal maternal peripheral blood was investigated. Forty-six child patients with hydronephrosis admitted to Hongqi Hospital Affiliated to Mudanjiang Medical College from December 2016 to November 2017 were selected as the observation group and the control included 46 normal newborn infants. The urinary RBP, ALB, AQP2 and the expression of MCP-1 in the prenatal maternal peripheral blood in the two groups were compared.
