The first derivatives of gelatin and type I collagen fluorescence spectra were characterized in order to describe the effect of free radicals on pyridinoline (PYD) cross-links. The different gas saturation conditions were used to investigate the effect of different free radicals. An analysis of first derivative fluorescence spectra suggests that PYD cross-link fluorescence emission is composed of three peaks in gelatin, but only two in type I collagen.

Many kinds of fibrosis are related to the content of pyridinoline cross-linking in type 1 collagen. In this study, ZIF-8 (zeolitic imidazolate framework), a metal organic framework (MOF), and ZIF8-hypocrellin B (ZIF8-HB), which combined the merits of hypocrellin B and the properties of ZIF-8, were prepared and applied to the photodegradation of the pyridinoline cross-linking. The effects of O2 and H2O2 in the photodynamic action were investigated.

An alkaliphilic and halophilic actinomycete strain, designated EGI 80537T, was isolated from a saline-alkali soil sample of Xinjiang, north-west China and subjected to a taxonomic characterization using a polyphasic approach. Strain EGI 80537T formed reticulate long aerial hyphae. Whole-cell hydrolysates of the isolate contained meso-diaminopimelic acid as the cell-wall diamino acid and mannose as the diagnostic sugar.

We aim to investigate the effects of Hodgkin's lymphoma and the chemotherapy for treating the disease on the human milk microbiome through integrated network and community diversity analyses. Our analyses suggest that Hodgkin's lymphoma seems to have a suppressing effect on the milk microbiome by lowering the milk microbial community diversity, as measured by the Hill numbers profiles. Although the diversity analysis did not reveal an effect of chemotherapy on community diversity, bacterial species interaction network analysis shows that chemotherapy may help to slightly restore the milk microbiome impacted by Hodgkin's lymphoma through its influence on the interactions among species (or OTUs).

Background: Platycodon grandiflorum is the only species in the genus Platycodon of the family Campanulaceae, which has been traditionally used as a medicinal plant for its lung-heat-clearing, antitussive, and expectorant properties in China, Japanese, and Korean. Oleanane-type triterpenoid saponins were the main chemical components of P. grandiflorum and platycodin D was the abundant and main bioactive component, but little is known about their biosynthesis in plants.

Cytochrome P450nor catalyzes an unusual reaction that transfers electrons from NADP/NADPH to bound heme directly. To improve the expression level of P450nor2 from Cylindrocarpon tonkinense (C.P450nor2), Escherichia coli system was utilized to substitute the yeast system we constructed for expression of the P450nor2 gene, and the protein was purified in soluble form using Ni(+)-NTA affinity chromatography.

An efficient method for the degradation of the dye Rhodamine B (RhB) is reported. A SiO2 -hypocrellin B (SiO2 -HB) complex was found to work as a catalyst to degrade RhB in aqueous solution at room temperature and atmospheric pressure, over the pH range 1-10, under indoor light conditions. This method is capable of removing 82.

As a member of the POU-domain family, the POU1F1 is a positive regulator for growth hormone, prolactin and thyroid-stimulating hormone b, by binding to target DNA promoters as a dimer in mammals. This study described the polymorphisms at the goat POU1F1-DdeI locus and analyzed the distribution of alleles in 15 indigenous Chinese goat breeds. The PCR-RFLP analysis showed a predominance of the D1D1 genotype and the D1 allele, with average frequencies of 0.

Autophagy and apoptosis, which could be induced by common stimuli, play crucial roles in development and disease. The functional relationship between autophagy and apoptosis is complex, due to the dual effects of autophagy. In the Bombyx Bm-12 cells, 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E) treatment or starvation-induced cell death, with autophagy preceding apoptosis.
