Parity-time (PT) symmetry is a fundamental concept in non-Hermitian physics that has recently gained attention for its potential in engineering advanced electronic systems and achieving robust wireless power transfer (WPT) even in the presence of disturbances, through the incorporation of nonlinearity. However, the current PT-symmetric scheme falls short of achieving the theoretical maximum efficiency of WPT and faces challenges when applied to non-resistive loads. In this study, we propose a theoretical framework and provide experimental evidence demonstrating that asymmetric resonance, based on dispersive gain, can greatly enhance the efficiency of WPT beyond the limits of symmetric approaches.

Aryl quinolone derivatives can target the cytochrome bc complex of Plasmodium falciparum, exhibiting excellent in vitro and in vivo antimalarial activity. However, their clinical development has been hindered due to their poor aqueous solubility profiles. In this study, a series of bioisosteres containing saturated heterocycles fused to a 4-pyridone ring were designed to replace the inherently poorly soluble quinolone core in antimalarial quinolones with the aim to reduce π-π stacking interactions in the crystal packing solid state, and a synthetic route was developed to prepare these alternative core derivatives.

Introduction: Adolescents' information management behaviors involve calibrating interactions between the self and parents, which could serve as either risk or protective factors for self-esteem. Since a sense of control over life outcomes is a protective factor for overall well-being, it might account for links between youth information management and self-esteem. This longitudinal study examined whether youth's sense of control mediated associations between concealment and voluntary disclosure and their self-esteem, at both the between- and within-person levels.

The lack of a robust system to reproducibly propagate HRV-C, a family of viruses refractory to cultivation in standard cell lines, has substantially hindered our understanding of this common respiratory pathogen. We sought to develop an organoid-based system to reproducibly propagate HRV-C, and characterize virus-host interaction using respiratory organoids. We demonstrate that airway organoids sustain serial virus passage with the aid of CYT387-mediated immunosuppression, whereas nasal organoids that more closely simulate the upper airway achieve this without any intervention.

Macrocyclization is a vital process in the biosynthesis of ribosomally synthesized and post-translationally modified peptides (RiPPs), significantly enhancing their structural diversity and biological activity. Universally found in living organisms, cytochrome P450 enzymes (P450s) are versatile catalysts that facilitate a wide array of chemical transformations and have recently been discovered to contribute to the expansion and complexity of the chemical spectrum of RiPPs. Particularly, P450-catalyzed biaryl-bridged RiPPs, characterized by highly modified structures, represent an intriguing but underexplored class of natural products, as demonstrated by the recent discovery of tryptorubin A, biarylitide and cittilin.

Background: Many countries have developed their country/nation-wide multidimensional area-based index on deprivation or socioeconomic status for resource allocation, service planning and research. However, whether each geographical unit proxied by a single index is sufficiently small to contain a relatively homogeneous population remains questionable. Globally, this is the first study that presents the distribution of domestic households by the territory-wide economic status index decile groups within each of the 2,252 small subunit groups (SSUGs) throughout Hong Kong, with a median study population of 1,300 and a median area of 42,400 m.

Developing highly efficient bimetallic metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as catalysts for Fenton-like reactions holds significant promise for decontamination processes. Although MOFs with excellent decontamination capabilities are achievable, ensuring their long-term stability, especially in the organoarsenic harmless treatment, remains a formidable challenge. Herein, we proposed a unique nanoconfinement strategy using graphene oxide (GO)-supported Prussian blue analogs (PBA) as catalytic membrane, which modulated the peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation in p-arsanilic acid (p-ASA) degradation from traditional radical pathways to a synergy of both radical and non-radical pathways.
