However, most of the biomass-derived CDs only show bright fluorescence in diluted solution because of aggregation-induced quenching effect, hence cannot exhibit solid-state long-lived room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) in ambient conditions. Herein, matrix-free solid-state RTP with an average lifetime of 0.

Manganese-based materials are considered as one of the most promising cathodes in zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) for large-scale energy storage applications owing to their cost-effectiveness, natural availability, low toxicity, multivalent states, high operation voltage, and satisfactory capacity. However, their intricate energy storage mechanisms coupled with unsatisfactory cycling stability hinder their commercial applications. Previous reviews have primarily focused on optimization strategies for achieving high capacity and fast reaction kinetics, while overlooking capacity fluctuation and lacking a systematic discussion on strategies to enhance the cycling stability of these materials.

In the clinical photodynamic combat of bacteria, one critical issue is to avoid the potential damage to the host since the reactive oxygen species produced by photosensitizers are also harmful to mammalian cells. In this work, we report an aggregation-induced-emission-active bacterial inhibitor and photosensitizer, OEO-TPE-MEM (OTM), for the imaging, killing, and light-enhanced inactivation of bacteria.

Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) are new energy collection devices that have the characteristics of high efficiency, low cost, miniaturization capability, and convenient manufacture. TENGs mainly utilize the triboelectric effect to obtain mechanical energy from organisms or the environment, and this mechanical energy is then converted into and output as electrical energy. Bioelectricity is a phenomenon that widely exists in various cellular processes, including cell proliferation, senescence, apoptosis, as well as adjacent cells' communication and coordination.

It shows a great potential for axial vertebral rotation (AVR) evaluation, yet its validity and reliability need to be further demonstrated.
Materials And Methods: Twenty patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) (coronal Cobb: 26.
Objective: This methodological research aimed to investigate and compare the sensitivity and specificity of conventional and new face validation in identifying incomprehensible items empirically.
Methods: A purposive sample of 15 older people living in three residential care homes (RCHs) in Hong Kong was used to evaluate a newly developed 106 items covering seven quality-of-life dimensions. The abbreviated Mental Test (Hong Kong version; AMT) was used as a screening tool for excluding those with impaired cognition.
W-BiO composites were fabricated using the hot isostatic pressing technique for the first time. The duration of the samples sintering was 3 minutes under conditions of high pressure and temperature. The study of microstructural features and chemical composition of sintered samples was carried out using scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, respectively.

A shortage of physiotherapist (PT) manpower is a barrier for providing better rehabilitation service in Hong Kong. Quality training can benefit patients with better recovery, on the contrary, insufficient training may cause a longer length of stay, readmission, and thus the burden of healthcare system. The estimated cost for PT services in Hospital Authority was HK$7.

This study investigates a series of binary and ternary phosphides predominantly composed of cobalt and nickel employed for photocatalytic dye-sensitized hydrogen evolution. Under the optimal dye-to-catalyst mass ratio, CoNiP exhibited the highest hydrogen evolution activity (12.

Objective: Infectious diseases are global health challenge, impacted the communities worldwide particularly in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic. The need of rapid and accurate automated systems for detecting pathogens of concern has always been critical. Ideally, such systems shall detect a large panel of pathogens simultaneously regardless of well-equipped facilities and highly trained operators, thus realizing on-site diagnosis for frontline healthcare providers and in critical locations such as borders and airports.

Hydrogels are one type of materials that are widely exploited for bioactive agent delivery, partly owing to their high biocompatibility and low toxicity. When hydrogels are used as carriers, their performance in agent loading and sustained agent release are predominately determined by the gel structure, which can be largely affected by variations during gel preparation. Till now, effective and easy methods to enable monitoring of such variations in real time have been lacking, making quality control of the generated gel-based carrier technically challenging.

It is a challenging task to directly apply emulsified silicone oil to the surface of cotton fabric to obtain superhydrophobic properties. In this work, a temperature-responsive microgel was first synthesized and the particle size and distribution of the microgel, thermo-responsiveness, and hydrophobicity of the microgel membrane were investigated. Then, through an emulsifying PMHS/water system with microgels as a Pickering emulsifier, a series of Pickering emulsions were obtained.

Cancer is a life-threatening disease worldwide. Although several approaches, such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, have been proven effective for many patients in clinics, they usually suffer from drug resistance, severe toxic-side effects, patient discomfort, and sometimes, unsatisfactory efficacies. In recent years, phototherapy, as a less invasive but effective therapeutic method, has brought hope for cancer treatment.

Introduction: Cognitive frailty is the co-existence of mild cognitive impairment and physical frailty that increases the risk of adverse health outcomes. The existing systematic reviews on cognitive frailty in the literature have focused only on identifying associated factors and adverse outcomes, and their relationship with frailty and cognition. This study aimed to examine the effects of interventions on cognitive functions, frailty, and physical functions and provide an overview of intervention components used in older people with cognitive frailty.

ONs impact NO concentrations and consequently ozone formation while also contributing to secondary organic aerosol. Here we show that the ONs with the chemical formula CHNO are a significant fraction of isoprene-derived ONs, based on chamber experiments and ambient measurements from different sites around the globe.

Copper selenide is widely considered to be a promising candidate for high-performance flexible thermoelectrics; however, most of the reported values of copper selenides are unsatisfactory at a relatively low temperature range. Herein, we utilized some wet chemical methods to synthesize a series of copper selenides. XRD, SEM and TEM characterizations revealed that CuSe, CuSe and Cu Se were prepared successfully and possessed different morphologies and sizes.
