Absence of Pericarditis Recurrence in Rilonacept-Treated Patients With COVID-19 and SARS-CoV-2 Vaccination: Results From the RHAPSODY Long-term Extension.

Background: Rilonacept inhibits the interleukin-1 pathway, and extended treatment in patients with recurrent pericarditis (RP) reduced recurrence risk by 98% in the phase 3 trial, RHAPSODY long-term extension (LTE). Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)-CoV-2 vaccination and/or infection may trigger pericarditis recurrence, and in clinical practice, it is unknown whether to continue rilonacept during SARS-CoV-2 infection. This post-hoc analysis of the RHAPSODY LTE aimed to inform rilonacept management in RP patients vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 or who contract COVID-19.

Methods: We conducted a planned secondary analysis of CHAP, an open-label, multicenter, randomized trial of antihypertensive treatment compared with standard care (no treatment unless severe hypertension developed) in pregnant patients with mild chronic hypertension (blood pressure 140-159/90-104 mm Hg before 20 weeks of gestation) and singleton pregnancies. We performed three comparisons based on medications prescribed at enrollment: labetalol compared with standard care, nifedipine compared with standard care, and labetalol compared with nifedipine.

Hypertension disparities persist and remain high among racial and ethnic minority populations in the United States (US). Data-driven approaches based on electronic health records (EHRs) in primary care are seen as a strong opportunity to address this situation. This qualitative study evaluated the development, sustainability, and usability of an EHR-integrated hypertension disparities dashboard for health care professionals in primary care.

Validation of a Vaginal Birth After Cesarean Delivery Prediction Model Without Race and Ethnicity in Individuals With Two Prior Cesarean Deliveries.

Previous models for prediction of vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) relied on race and ethnicity, raising concern for bias. In response, the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units Network (MFMU) created a new prediction model without race and ethnicity for individuals with one prior cesarean delivery. We performed a secondary analysis of the MFMU Cesarean Registry database to evaluate whether the MFMU VBAC prediction model without race and ethnicity could accurately predict VBAC for individuals with two prior cesarean deliveries.

The Acceptability of Relationship-Centered Communication Partner Training for Couples Impacted by Aphasia: A Mixed-Methods Pilot Investigation.

Purpose: This study explored the acceptability and impact of relationship-centered communication partner training (RC-CPT) in couples impacted by aphasia. In particular, couples considered whether discussing their relationship roles and responsibilities was important and relevant to the changes they desire. Preliminary quasi-experimental data regarding perceived communication confidence and the marriage relationship were also obtained.

An Automated Approach for Identifying Erroneous IS-A Relations in SNOMED CT.

SNOMED CT is the most comprehensive clinical terminology employed worldwide and enhancing its accuracy is of utmost importance. In this work, we introduce an automated approach to identifying erroneous IS-A relations in SNOMED CT. We first extract linked concept-pairs from which we generate Term Difference Pairs (TDPs) that contain differences between the concepts.

Rapid Progression of Malignant Peritoneal Mesothelioma Mimicking a Postoperative Complication in a Young Woman: A Case Report.

BACKGROUND Malignant peritoneal mesothelioma is a rare disease with a poor prognosis that often presents with vague symptoms and inconclusive laboratory test results. Causes include industrial pollutants, primarily asbestos, and certain genetic mutations, such as BAP1. Due to the nonspecific symptoms, it is often incidentally diagnosed during or after other surgical procedures.
