Introduction: In the Netherlands, half of the adult population is overweight. Combined Lifestyle Interventions guide overweight clients towards a healthy lifestyle. In addition to the face-to face sessions with clients, lifestyle professionals can use digital coaching tools to guide their clients remotely.

Health professionals' experiences with the PEDI-UG: What do Ugandan occupational therapists say about the utility and value of the Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory (PEDI-UG) for children with disabilities?

Background: The Uganda version of Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory (PEDI-UG) was culturally adapted and validated from the PEDI-US, a tool used to evaluate the functional capability of children with or without disability aged 6 months to 7.5 years in the areas of self-care, mobility and social domains. A group of Ugandan occupational therapists with experience of using PEDI-UG participated in this study to explore the question: What do Ugandan occupational therapists say about the utility and value of the PEDI-UG for children with disabilities?

Methods: A qualitative research design was chosen to explore the participants' viewpoints concerning the utility and value of the PEDI-UG for children with disabilities.

Measurement tools to assess activities of daily living in patients with Parkinson's disease: A systematic review.

Introduction: Parkinson's disease (PD) is associated with a progressive inability to accomplish essential activities of daily living (ADL) resulting in a loss of autonomy and quality of life. Accurate measurement of ADL in PD is important to monitor disease progression and optimize care. Despite its relevance, it is still unclear which measurement instruments are the most suitable for evaluating ADL in people with PD.

Returning of antiretroviral medication dispensed over a period of 8 months suggests non-adherence despite full adherence according to real time medication monitoring.

Real-time medication monitoring (RTMM) may potentially enhance adherence to antiretroviral treatment (ART). We describe a participant in an ongoing trial who, shortly after completing trial participation, died of cryptococcal meningitis despite high levels of adherence according to self-report, pill-counts and RTMM (> 99%). However, she evidenced consistently high HIV viral load throughout the 48-week study follow-up.

Technical and Psychosocial Challenges of mHealth Usage for Antiretroviral Therapy Adherence Among People Living With HIV in a Resource-Limited Setting: Case Series.

Background: Mobile communication has been found to improve antiretroviral therapy (ART) adherence among people living with HIV. In an ongoing randomized clinical trial, 2 mobile communication strategies (ie, sending SMS text messages and real-time medication monitoring [RTMM]) were used to improve adherence to ART among people living with HIV in Tanzania. We noticed remarkable discrepancies between self-reported adherence and adherence recorded by SMS text messaging or RTMM among some of the first trial participants.

Inclusive early childhood education and care: a longitudinal study into the growth of interprofessional collaboration.

Inclusive early childhood education and care (ECEC) requires interprofessional collaboration between professionals with diverse professional backgrounds. Following developments in human services, there is a growing interest in the role of interprofessional teams in community-based settings for young children. In a three-year longitudinal study, we investigated interprofessional collaboration (IPC) between staff from childcare, education and youth care.

A scarcity mindset alters neural processing underlying consumer decision making.

Not having enough of what one needs has long been shown to have detrimental consequences for decision making. Recent work suggests that the experience of insufficient resources can create a "scarcity" mindset; increasing attention toward the scarce resource itself, but at the cost of attention for unrelated aspects. To investigate the effects of a scarcity mindset on consumer choice behavior, as well as its underlying neural mechanisms, we used an experimental manipulation to induce both a scarcity and an abundance mindset within participants and examined the effects of both mindsets on participants' willingness to pay for familiar food items while being scanned using fMRI.

Targeting relevant sampling areas for human biological traces: Where to sample displaced bodies for offender DNA?

Sampling strategy is one of the deciding factors in DNA typing success rates. Small amounts of bodily fluid traces and (skin) contact traces are currently not visualized in standard forensic practice. Trace recovery is usually based on the information available in a particular case and on the experience and 'forensic common sense' applied by the trace recovery expert.

Surplus vitamin B use does not reduce fatigue in patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome or inflammatory bowel disease: A randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial.

Objective: In non-conventional care, high doses of vitamin B supplementation are used for the treatment of fatigue even in case of normal vitamin B blood levels. We performed a randomized placebo controlled trial to investigate the effect of surplus oral vitamin B supplementation on fatigue in patients with IBS or IBD.

Methods: This randomized double-blind, placebo-controlled trial included 95 out-clinic IBS and IBD patients with deactivating fatigue and normal vitamin B blood levels (≥150 pmol/l) aged 18-65 years.

[Education within the Dutch National Care for the Elderly Programme].

The Netherlands Organisation of Health Research and Development started in 2008 the Dutch National Care for the Elderly Programme (in Dutch abbreviated as NPO) with the aim to improve the quality of life for the frail older people through better quality of care (health, social, community) which is tailored to the needs and wants of older people. The delivery of good care is related with competent professional behaviour which is inextricably linked to the education of professionals. This article presents an overview of 32 educational programmes developed within the NPO.

Purpose: Establishing construct validity of the ACS-NL in individuals with Parkinson's disease (PD).

Method: Discriminative validity was established in 191 community-dwelling individuals with PD using an extreme groups design (Hoehn and Yahr stages 1 and 3). Convergent validity was determined by relating the performance scores of the ACS-NL to the scores of the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) and the Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire (PDQ-39) scores, and relating ACS-NL satisfaction scores to the COPM scores and to the Utrecht Scale for Evaluation of Rehabilitation Participation (USER-P).

Smoking cessation after an acute coronary syndrome: immediate quitters are successful quitters.

Background: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention guidelines stress the importance of smoking cessation and recommend intensive follow-up. To guide the development of such cessation support strategies, we analysed the characteristics that are associated with successful smoking cessation after an acute coronary syndrome (ACS).

Methods: We used data from the Randomised Evaluation of Secondary Prevention for ACS patients coordinated by Outpatient Nurse SpEcialists (RESPONSE) trial (n = 754).

Catheter-related bloodstream infection (CRBSI) is associated with high rates of morbidity. This systematic review assesses the efficacy of antibiotic-based lock solutions to prevent CRBSI. A secondary goal of our review is to determine which antibiotic-based lock solution is most effective in reducing CRBSI.

Greater Mediterranean diet adherence is observed in Dutch compared with Greek university students.

Background And Aims: Research has demonstrated that Mediterranean youth appear to abandon the traditional diet. The present study aimed to assess Mediterranean diet (MD) adherence in Greek university students, compared with a non-Mediterranean (Dutch) population.
