We report a method for using elemental sulfur to facilitate the cyclization of aryl hydrazones and aryl isothiocyanates, affording biorelated 2-imino-1,3,4-thiadiazoles. Reactions progressed in the presence of elemental sulfur, -methylmorpholine base, and DMSO solvent, while were tolerant of a wide range of functionalities including halogen, nitro, cyano, methylsulfonyl, and heterocyclic groups. The method appears to offer a general pathway for using simple, cheap, and stable reagents to afford triaryl-substituted 2-imino-1,3,4-thiadiazoles under relatively mild conditions.

The current study aimed to assess the effectiveness of biochar formed from algae in the removal of Cr(VI) through the process of impregnating brown algae Sargassum hemiphyllum with KHCO. The synthesis of KHCO-activated biochar (KBAB-3), demonstrating remarkable adsorption capabilities for Cr(VI), was accomplished utilizing a mixture of brown algae and KHCO in a mass ratio of 1:3, followed by calcination at a temperature of 700 °C. Based on the empirical evidence, it can be observed that KBAB-3 shown a significant ability to adsorb Cr(VI) within a range of 60-160 mg g across different environmental conditions.

Herein we report a method for affording 2-benzyl benzoxazoles from substituted styrenes and 2-nitrophenols. The success of this method relies on the use of simple reagents, namely elemental sulfur and DABCO. A combination of identical reagents was utilized for the annulation of styrenes with ,-dialkyl-3-nitroanilines to afford 2-benzyl benzothiazoles.

Vietnam, classified as a developing nation, encounters numerous challenges within its construction sector, including the scarcity of comprehensive and documented historical data regarding risks and a deficiency in embracing contemporary methodologies to mitigate the impact of risk factors on construction project objectives. This paper outlines initial findings from an ongoing research endeavor that centers on implementing Lean Construction (LC) techniques to enhance construction management practices specifically for marble floor finishing work within Vietnam. Therefore, this study aims to apply the construction lean principle combined with discrete-event simulation (DES) by using EZStrobe to simulate the marble floor finishing process in reality, from observing and collecting data of each activity in the actual process on the site.

Magnetite nanoparticles (FeO NPs) are among the most effective Fenton-Like heterogeneous catalysts for degrading environmental contaminants. However, FeO NPs aggregate easily and have poor dispersion stability because of their magnetic properties, which seriously decrease their catalytic efficiency. In this study, a novel environmentally friendly method for synthesising FeO@CA was proposed.

This study aimed to use oleic acid-based ultrasonic-assisted extraction (UAE) to recover carotenoids from carrot pomace and emulsify the enriched-carotenoid oleic acid using spontaneous and ultrasonic-assisted emulsification. The extraction performance of oleic acid was compared with traditional organic solvents, including hexane, acetone, and ethyl acetate. The one-factor experiments were employed to examine the impact of UAE conditions, including liquid-to-solid ratios, temperature, ultrasonic power, and time, on the extraction yield of carotenoids and to find the conditional ranges for the optimization process.

Cyanides, which are extremely toxic chemicals that are rapidly absorbed into the human body and interact with cytochrome oxidase, strongly inhibit cellular respiration to body death with convulsions. Cyanide ions that exist in many forms in nature such as those found in apricot kernels, cassava roots, and bamboo shoots as cyanogenic glycosides are inevitably used in various industries, including gold and silver mining as well as in dyes and plastic industries. In this study, for the sake of developing ultrahigh-sensitive sensors for cyanide monitoring in a simple manner, we chemically synthesize Au-Ag hybrid nanomaterials of different core/shell thicknesses for colorimetric sensors and fiber optical sensors.

One of the advantages of inkjet printing in digital manufacturing is the ability to use multiple nozzles simultaneously to improve the productivity of the processes. However, the use of multiple nozzles makes inkjet status monitoring more difficult. The jetting nozzles must be carefully selected to ensure the quality of printed products, which is challenging for most inkjet processes that use multi-nozzles.

The design of fully braced excavation of underground works, whether in rural or urban areas, is important to ensure that the design of fully braced support is safe, particularly in determining the depth of excavation and inserting the length into the clay of the wall, as well as a proportional excavation width. This study investigates the undrained basal stability of fully braced excavation in anisotropic clays with linearly increasing shear strength with depth employing upper and lower bound finite element limit analysis under symmetry plane conditions based on the AUS failure criterion. The dimensionless variables were used to examine the stability number () and the failure mechanisms selected for this problem's practical analysis.
